    South Africans call these Gem Squash. They are delicious steamed and served halved with a knob of butter and a light sprinkle of paprika - YUM! Great video 👍

    When I watched this video last year, I knew I had to plant eight ball squash this year. I planted it and it's one of the best tasting summer squash I have ever had. Thank you so much for your videos.

      Wonderful to hear it. Absolutely agree with you, these are one of the tastiest squashes to grow. And of course you did a great job to grow them that tasty. Happy gardening and as always, thank you so much for leaving a comment!

    I really love your garden Chanel I have two questions one of them where do you keep the seedlings after planting under the lights or or in the shade the second question is what’s the point of planting two seeds in 1 pot if they will all germinate

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 2 lety +2

      I have a shed like room in my backyard where I keep my seed trays until the seedlings sprout. As soon as they pop out, I move them outside in indirect sunlight (under a patio umbrella), or 3-4 hours of direct early morning sunlight. And the reason for sowing 2 seed is simply to have a higher germination rate. Specially if you have short growing season, you don't want to miss it by a week or so because of poor germination. It may seem all my seeds germinate, but I can guarantee you that is not always the case and I had seeds with poor germination. I am delighted that you love my channel and thank you so much or your comment!

  • @gabrielac1954

    Can I plant the seeds directly into the ground? Of course when the soil is warm enough for planting. And if so, how many seeds per hole? Thank you in advance for your help and reply!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před rokem +2

      Yes, you can. Use the same method, sow 2 seeds and keep the strongest seedling. Keep in mind that by sowing directly in soil, it is possible that seeds won't germinate due to mold or other fungal issues. Also, the chances of "damping off" which is a disease effecting young seedlings will be higher. Happy growing and thank you for your comment!

    How do they taste compared to a standard green courgette/zucchini? Do they taste more or less the same?

    • @TowardGarden

    What size are your pretty terra cotta colored containers-sorry if I missed that? Also I know this is unrelated, but how do you get so many tiny holes in the cap to make the water bottle watering ‘can’? I’d love to make me a couple of those caps.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 2 lety

      These are Bloem 16 in. Dia. pots. And for the holes, I punch hole with push pins used on clipboards (the small ones with plastic heads). You only need 5-6 holes on the cap. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting.

    How do you avoid pickling worms and squash boars?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Před 3 měsíci

      We don't have many problems with squash vine borer. But the best is to prevent borers from laying eggs. Barriers such as covering lower stems with aluminum foils helps. For worms and caterpillars, spray B.T. or spinosad (both organic). amzn.to/3yR0SBg , amzn.to/4bLoBRO . Thank you for your comment!

    Спасибо хорошее видео, но у меня есть несколько вопросов. Это я как понимаю потернокарпический цукини или обычный? Я пробовала вырастить цукини но не получилось, наверное потому что не правильно кормила, тут названия удобрений другие,а на Украине другие.
