Thanks for pointing out the first video had a resolution issue! We've fixed it, and now let's get back to showing off all the new improvements to Imperator: Rome!
Imperator: Rome wasn't built in one update.
Jokes aside, despite what the game was like at launch, it looks amazing now. Can't wait to play!
I bought it on steam sale and have been really enjoying it. Nowhere near as bad as everyone says it is. I do hope that PDX start releasing updates again soon though and don't abandon this game completely. This game has so much potential
Hey folks, Surreal here. I often cover games from a story focused perspective so it was an awesome and unique opportunity to create some guides for the upcoming Imperator: Rome update. I hope that you enjoy these videos and they've proved to be informative.
No, bad Finn Harper.
Just subscribed to your Channel!
Good job like usual SurrealBeliefs.
Thanks and hope to see a Roleplaying Let's play from you!
I was very surprised to hear your voice in this xD
By the dark gods its... its the most realistic and grounded military mechanics since vicky 2......
Not only will levies be tied to pops and cost money to be raised, but they will also directly influence how much money you make and if they die are removed.
We have done it people. Friendship ended with victoria, imperator rome my new best friend.
So which Viicky 2 mod is this Imperator thing?
It's insane how much different the game now looks from launch. Hope this update gets the recognition it deserves!
VERY NICE
Thank you OPB!
Friendship ended with -TOTAL WAR- , now Paradox Grand Strategy Games are my best friends
lmao
Don't get 2 cozy. You never know when a company will fall to the dark side.
Even after the WH3 announcement trailer? HERESY! Where are the witch hunters?
@@doctor93144 not really fan of fantasy in tw. Ca catered to fantasy fans nowadays.
@@PauloGarcia-sp5ws they already fell to the dark side by releasing this half ass game at launch. Will wait for this atleast a year for all the updates. Been enjoying ck3 for now
Did not expect to see Surreal Beliefs to be covering IR, hope he does more and a Role Play let's play for sure!!
Me too!
@@SurrealBeliefs how did you got that kind of voice?
He's done a few campaigns before in imperator, it's how I found his channel
This is it. This is the reason I'll try and dive back into this.
I really want to like this game. The time period is my bread and butter.
I love how this makes the game more historically accurate and reduces the amount of cheese that one could use to immediately counter every enemy they would face because of the preferred unit type of certain culture groups.
Literally game changing
love the new update and the historical rework.
Ah man, no more trading for Elephants then throwing out several Elephant forces :(
An objectively good thing.
the first professional roman armies were the Marian Legions, so it's pretty fitting to call it the Marius update
Oh man, this changes everything. Fitting that this update is called Marius!
Ain’t he the guy who reformed the Roman army?
Like it. Its more dynamic and related to the countrys economy and direction.
What a solid overhaul
It's been a long time since I got excited with any Paradox DD and this one feels me with long desired thrill and urge to play it right now!
Very nicely put together video :)
Not played since launch ... i may have to give it another go
Likewise.
I encourage you to give it another go it comes out soon only 5 days, they have been working on this for months
Friend, I missed the launch completely only got in around Archimedes update (1.3, March of last year) and I love this game. To be fair, it was my first PDX game so I didn't really know what it *should* play like but I've sunk 200 hours into it since then. I implore you to try it again!
Ok, that's comeback as soon as this patch releases
My favorite CZcamsr
Surreal holysh*t
Hi!
@@SurrealBeliefs hi!
Some Feedback: Legions mechanic should have a culture agnostic name like "Standing Army" or "Professional Army". And then have culture specific names for it such as "Legion" etc. Just seems weird being a Germanic or African nation with "Legions". With that said, looking forward to 2.0!
Levy is also Latin
"Immortals" for the Persians. "Sacred band" for...Thebes was it, or Sparta? they had such names for their bestest bros.
Legion is not that specific to rome many nations have used it and the Romans and Latins also used it as a generic description for a military unit of a given size. So its not that unreasonable to just call them legions.
I like these changes a lot.
Man that music is iconic. Great update too
I started reading the dev diaries for Marius since the forts rework and loved everything since now I can’t wait till it comes out😃
Freue mich darauf das neue Update spielen, aufnehmen & streamen zu können
I got this game thanks to Humble Choice and haven't really delved into it as much as I'd like to, but I'm glad to see it's not dead! I thought Paradox had somewhat abandoned this one since it didn't seem to get the recognition that it should have, but I'm glad I was wrong. Now, if only I could figure out how to be somewhat decent at any Paradox game outside of Stellaris lol
Exciting!
These tutorials made me believe in I:R again. Just wanna commend the entire team on stepping up and doing something great with the game. Keep it up with developing I:R's unique identity!
Looks intriguing =3
I really like this, felt like there was not alot of use to intergrating cultures. Now it has more use
Totally exciting! When we can expect the next tutorial for warfare?
Hopefully very soon!
Nice to see.
Will give it another try after that update.
Epirus is gonna be op due to its +10 discipline in light infantry
TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY
gonna be interessting how it affects garrisons and unrest. i loved spamming light infantry to keep unrest down
@Paradox, really enjoying the game now! Thank you so much. A couple of things though: Can't assign monarchs or consuls to lead the legions...and the legions can't be assigned to a given province which would help out alot with stabilising disloyal territories. Please add these features back, they're all that's missing now...
oh those are some great changes!
A lot of good improvements. I've got a lot more ideas for combat and military.
thanks for making sparta have to raise levies. glad i got all this flavour with the Magna Graecia DLC
That new UI looks incredible.
HYPE!!
I think it's time to finally buy this game.
Now I think the game is worth for another try. I will play it again after the update.
This is gonna be sweeeeeeeet
Surreal hurray 🎉🎉
looks nice
That's. SO. Cool.
hopefully all updates to imperator rome will be ported over to ck3
Just bought this game after waiting nearly two years for all the issues to be fixed. Got nearly 80% discount at Green Man Gaming. What a deal and now can't wait to get into it :)
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee buddyyyyyyyyy
this game have the best music.. make me wants to live in classical era..
Fingers crossed that the devs have fixed the crashing problem on MacOS.
Let's hope this game is good now. if not then we might have to wait until 3.0
Oh right, this game existed.
So I noticed that you can change fighting stance in each force levies, does this stack on eachother or does one stance override the other like if one force is in Shock and other is in Envelope witch is being used?
When you add another time scenario
I'd really appreciate captions.
I keep forgetting this game exists.
thanks. Im still confused on how to increase the number of governor/generals and their levy army (the tutorial starts you with 2, how do I increase that?)
yes i definitely understand 100% no doubt :(
Oh this is complicated.
It seems similar to crusader king 3 system? I didn't play in a while, but it was good
I'm proud of you guys to take care of this game and actually listen to the community. Thanks a lot
I wonder how the levies will change the way we play city states. They can't really change much about their forces, just like their neighbors. So I am very curious how early conflicts will play out. I hope it won't just be a question of who got the better ally.
Hey Marius that's me!
So the army will be like in CK III where you need to raise levies in order to fight and need to be disbanded after a fight? No more permanent troops on the map? Cool!
do you still need iron to have heavy inf?
When?
I'm seriously considering to buy this game now, so sad that starting new paradox's games is so hard, due to the endless list of dlc's...
Well this one has bugger all in the way of DLC right now so jump on in
how do i use my king ( Pyrrhus) as a general?
I haven't played since 1.1, it's looking a lot better. Has trade changed since then?
Not much.
There are massive changes coming in this update and a lot has been improved already. This update is totally reworking military and also the UI. There are a ton of other changes. Its looking very good now.
seems like crossover from CK and HOI games, legion designer is like division designer in HOI4
Damn they really fixed the UI now it looks like something
Neat
So...hold middle mouse and slide to access the rest of the tech tree...great..unless you use a track ball...what's wrong with holding left and dragging? And before the Wise Ones say.. 'why don't you buy a mouse'...this isn't Flight sim where you use peddles and a flight stick...please fix this...
Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
Can you please tell us when youre going to add chat to lobbies in multiplayer? I have left a bad review specifically for this feature, and I know many others who are very much irked by this.
Coming from EU4, what keeps a community alive in the long term is multiplayer, and having no chat means that practically not possible to have a real multiplayer experience.
I know a singular mod that exists for this which would require everyone to download it, and so if a modder can create a chat function certainly you guys can.
May fix the lags?
Are the legions renamed to something else while playing Hellenics for example? If not, then that's sad on my part.
what is the name of the intro music?
👍
Haven't played since release, is this a good game yet?
Yes it has greatly improved😃
This is going to be a big help for my let’s play
Feels like they just remade the game
song at start?
I dont even know how to get new levys and i have HUNDREDS of hours in Paradox games
i forgot this game exists lol
I’m more interested in how politics has been changed. How do you manage families differently?
Pog
Is this game good yet? How similar to CK3 is it? I've played a bit of EU also but I sucked at it
It include some parts of EU, CK and Victoria in a more new player friendly way
If only they had RTS battles as an option, so not everything was decided with a dice roll.
Love it for the update, i can't create mega army again 😂😂
If only combat was visually interesting
Based
and, here it ends all the fun of military, now it will take us hours to become slightly more powerful than our neighbours
holy shit... I never bothered with this game cuz it looked like crap at launch. What a difference! I kinda wanna play it now
Instead of supplying levies with provisions, we can simply "exempt them from starvation" now... Jokes aside, this looks very promising
