    I've made this several times with my daughter,we gave up refined sugar for 30days so this was a staple in our home for snacks and a healthy dessert.
    The only thing I would say to make this even better is I warm up some coconut oil and add it to the mixture. It maked it more moist and easier to form also :)
    Such a great recipe!

After you make them can you put them in a sealed container and leave them out of the refrigerator overnight! I want to make them and take them the next day to a church function! The first ones I made I did put in the refrigerator and they were excellent but I like the consistency when you first make them as opposed to being so cold from refrigeration! Is it safe?

    I've made these or things very like them but I use regular date as they are far cheaper and work fine after they are soaked.I also grind my oats and nuts up first so that the pieces are smaller and more consistent through out.When I'm bad I dip them in dark chocolate these make fine chocolate centres,the bites are good on their own but covered in chocolate they're chocolates,not boring,healthy,energy bites with out breaking the bank for what is and isn't good for you.

    people can use avocados, banana's, mission figs, or Greel dried Kalamata figs, or turkish ones, rice cakes (they come in all different flavors instead of the oats) even cold rice instead of coconut would work, can always use just a bit of honey for sticky, different butters out there, almond, peanut, sun flower seed, so many substitutes to make it your own. Hope this helps someone. Like your videos on food, thank you.

    Hi! I made the PB chocolate energy ball (kind of because I swapped the PB for almond butter and the peanuts for almonds) and they turned out great! Very delicious and very easy to make. The only thing was that it was kind of hard to shape them into balls as they kept crumbling (although I think that was my fault since I wasn’t patient enough to soak the dates for 15 min ; I left them soaking for 5 min instead 😂). Thank you for the recipe! I’ll definitely try the other ones too

      @Peaceinloveandeath Před 7 lety +5

      lorken22 honestly, I hate dates too. But I have made granola bars in the same process and I added enough cocoa powder and honey that I couldn't tastes the dates at all. I'd try a small batch to see if you can hide the taste as well because they really are delicious

    • @thedomesticgeek1
      @thedomesticgeek1  Před 7 lety +17

      I promise, you can't taste the dates at all. They're just the glue that holds everything together. You could potentially use apricots but I'm not sure they'd be quite as sticky. If you try it, please let me know how it turns out :)

      The Domestic Geek. Hi I jus wanted to tell you that I thought that your energy bits look amazing. Since I live in Brasil and dates are virtually impossible to find I made my own take with dried prunes. It worked out just fine, the prunes were sticky enough to hold the whole thing together

    • @sallybilly1
      @sallybilly1 Před 7 lety +5

      Yes I tried them with dried apricots before and consistency wise, it worked fine!!!! Though taste wise was a lil odd given that apricots are a lil more sour-ish than just sweet so play around with the flavour a bit (I won't recommend chocolate and apricot though your taste buds might differ from mine). My next experiment is with dried figs - I'm pretty confident it might work just the same :)

    How long can these be kept for? how do I store them to prevent them from being mouldy considering there's moisture content from the soaked dates?
