I'm on 100 mg & it doesn't work at all! I took 200 mg one night & all it did was put me in a weird trance. I've been on ambien, lunesta & everything out there. The only thing that knocks me out is Xanax. I have major PTSD & clinical depression. My doctor wants to put me in a sleep clinic. Once I was up for 7 days straight. Insomnia is horrible & how can anyone even work if you never sleep??? Insomnia needs to be taken more seriously.

My X who I live with got upset when I took back my medicine. I fell the other night and I have a broke lumbar, he has been mean to me, he told me to leave or he'll call bad names, he started in on me and I called my sister to come and get me, I was serious about leaving, he's been nice except he was going to cuss me, I looked at my phone and he shut up. @@lindacarol5982 I understand why you want to avoid the medications. I’m glad you’re not bipolar. Sometimes we just feel out of it and our mood could improve. I suggest looking at natural supplements. L-theanine, 5HTP, Mushrooms such as Reishi.
      But going back to meditation,
      meditation teaches Mindfulness.
You relax yourself, you recognize that you are safe, that you are in the present moment. Your thoughts are just thoughts. Acknowledge them as such and focus on the present moment which is real. The present moment is reality. Your thoughts are not reality.
You can do meditation anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. You can also look up on CZcams Guided Meditations for Anxiety or PTSD. Those are great.
Also keep praying if you do so, prayer was an early form of meditation. So it’s good. It teaches gratitude and mindfulness as well. Positive mood as well.
I wish you the best!! You can do mini-5 or 10 minute meditations throughout the day.
Add that along to some breathing exercises. I hope this helps you!!! All the best.

Those are just passing thoughts, acknowledge that they’re thoughts and not reality. And let them pass by and go away. Just like clouds. Let them pass by and go away. Don’t let them control you. If you have side effects that reduce your mental and physical safety, then stop immediately and inform your physician. Now that I'm retired, I don't need anything. Retirement is the solution! :-)

Had to stop traz this past week as I was getting symptoms of serotonin syndrome. The drug interactions between it and my other meds, along with my liver and kidney problems caused significant problems ending up in several visits to ER. It cannont be stressed enough to looking at all the meds you are on, and all your medical conditions prior to and during taking of drugs like Trazadone can help avoid or detect problems with your meds .
I have a dr in a box managing my meds who does not seem to have a clue about all the meds I have been taking that were prescribed by my med team and ER drs. And to top it off my now fired pcp dropped the ball managing my case. No one had a clue I was taking a potentiallt dangerous mix of medications. I got pretty sick.
Drs spend too little time on those of us who are taking so many different meds nowadays. Time constraints during medical visits due to many factors these days cause medical mistakes to happen like med interactions. Tgem problems like serotonin syndrone can develop. Communication between all the med providers you see has to happen, and in my case it was pretty lacking it has become clear to me.
Patients need a great team pcp to be your team captain overseeing all you take! And it would help if there were a centralized database that is up to date on all your meds you take regularly or prn.
I am no fan of drs in a box giving out psych meds now. Risky in cases like mine.

Took this last night at 50 mg, I honestly felt like I was going to die. I vomited and my heart beat was irregular. I passed out on my desk and there was ringing in my ears. The way I passed out and then came back freaked my partner out, he was screaming a lot as I was going back and forth from reality to sleep. I'm not sure if this related but I was diagnosed with mild ASD by a psychologist, neurologist who prescribed this medication said I didn't have it. I know that those with ASD tend to be very sensitive to all kinds of medication even if the condition is mild. This rings true with alcohol and marijuana. I am happy I threw up last night, immediately felt better. I don't think I will be taking this again.

50mg of Trazodone has helped with my extreme case of insomnia. However, the side effects are very difficult to tolerate. Everyone is different, but I wish I could find something to help me sleep that didn’t give me these surreal side-effects.
I don’t think I can take this for a very long time because every single day I feel some tired, weak, lightheaded (especially at night), and it triggers anxiety too.

To those who have weird anxious and light headed symptoms when taking trazodone:
If you have adhd, or ocd, trazodone probably makes you really nervous during the day but it still puts you to sleep. That’s what it does for me. It’s like a never ending cycle of extreme paranoia and nervousness. I notice that goes away for some but sometimes its very disassociating. I also found that very rarely am I able to take melatonin and fall asleep but sometimes I can If I forget it. lower your dose and see what happens. Usually all this happens because you blast your body with a new drug and it takes time to get used to but it never does if your anxiety revolves around the idea of sleep itself. If your body learns how to use trazodone then it’ll be better but this happens a lot because you start of with too high of a dose
