Should be able to also check the voltage coming from the ride height sensor with a scan tool. If I remember correctly it is set to be at approximately 2.5 volts at optimal ride height. I had a compressor short out the exhaust valve for the shocks and it took out the module that controlled that system too.

I was gonna change oil on a 1995 park avenue one morning. I drove up the ramp then left it run to warm up. The rear of the car jacked itself up trying to level. I just went up one ramp so the oil drained better from the plug side. When I came back the low side shock had almost leveled the car. I didn't even know they had leveling until that happened.

Interesting. Hopefully the system is an easy fix. I had the rear air suspension on my 92 Crown Victoria. The previous owner had replaced the parts to keep it working. The Ford system used air springs with normal shocks. It was great with a heavy load, but I did prefer the real springs on my 89 Grand Marquis. Both had the rear antisway bar. The 92 had the Performance/Handling Package, the 89 had the Trailer Tow III Package.

The air pump is just a box above the passenger side muffler held in place with three or four bolts. I think they're $200 brand new and relatively easy to replace. The lines, if needed, are like $40
