I am a medical dermatologist but I also enjoy making my patients happy with cosmetic/aesthetic treatments. I am using this platform to not only educate on medical topics but also on aesthetic dermatology.
Botox is an FDA approved treatment called onabotulinumtoxinA which is a nice way to soften wrinkles from facial movement (aka dynamic rhytides).
Places that are commonly treated: crow's feet, frown lines, forehead lines, bunny lines of the nose, lip flip, lip wrinkles, neck bands, masseter muscles on lateral cheeks.
Injectable neurotoxins like Botox have also shown to help with oil production and may even decrease acne formation.
Things to keep in mind:
Do not plan to exercise after your treatment
Do not lie down 4-5 hrs after your treatment
Do not get a massage where your head will be face-down in the prone position
You will start seeing results as early as 2-3 days but max results are seen at 2 weeks
Benefits will last for 3-4 months, sometimes longer
See a qualified experienced injector for treatment. There are complications from this procedure if not done correctly or if you do not adhere to post-treatment instructions.
Do not get treatment if pregnant.

2021 is the year of starting Botox (for me).
Can you do a video on just fillers please? I just had fillers done, but I don't think they worked. Do I need a different, stronger formula? How long do I have to wait to have the fillers injected again? Thank you for all of these videos! Very helpful!

Great video, thank you. If you are doing lateral brow, would you do it in conjunction with the corrugarles to assist with the lift?
S J thanks for watching! I usually always recommend doing corrugators. By treating them, you get a lift and feel more awake. You will counteract it’s action of pulling everything downwards and thus would pair it with the lateral brow. Take care 🤙

I have only had lateral brows done once and not the corrugators as I don’t have the 11s but on my follow up review we discussed including corrugators the next time to improve the lift so I will definitely try that next appointment. It was my first ever Botox, so baby steps 🙈
I have horizontal frown lines between my brows instead of 11 lines. Is Botox the answer for that? Thanks Doctor.

My friend is learning to do botox..I'm her free ginea pig..Good idea or not?..it will be in a class setting with Dr's etc.
Getting my next round dysport injections later this month, botox only lasts 6 weeks for me, dysport closer to 2 months. I'm very athletic, I know it's controversial to whether or not it's the reason to why it doesn't last. Do you know if extra Zinc before treatment might help it to last longer?
I only got 2 mos out of Botox but now I get xeomin & that lasts me 3-4 mos.

No offense to nurses. I respect the hard work and dedication to the field but I do not trust them with any form of injecting. I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences. My best experiences have been with board-certified plastic surgeons, dermatologist, and even an anesthesiologist.
