  • Support is an important role in GW2 PvP and learning where to rotate to be optimal can take difficult decisions. This guide will show how to build and rotate as a support and some common mistakes that players make as a support.
    UPDATE Supports will no longer be able to use Menders amulet, so sage or avatar are the next best thing. Also transference sigils will be necessary.

    Great video man! I'm just jumping in to GW2, coming from playing Holy Paladin in Wow. I'm used to large single target burst heals and extreme survivability. I love sticking like glue to a DPS and making people furious that they just can't down me or my teammate. I thought Guardian might be the proverbial "paladin" build but I'm seeing there's not a lot of direct heals like that in this game. I'm wondering if there's any build you'd recommend that is similar to that play style at all? I was looking at potentially the Druid but I don't see it mentioned with pvp much in recent months. I also noticed on your "Celestial Paladin" build you went with a core Guardian build instead of the Firebrand. What are your thoughts there and what would you recommend for someone looking for this play style I'm kinda looking for. Thanks for all the great content, always look forward to more of your stuff!

    I guess Warriors don't really have a place in PvP (even WvW)? I mean yeah, you can always use them, or you can use their 1 trick (bubble in WvW), but overall...meh.
    I am trying to find my new main, I played GW2 years ago and I am kinda coming back, so many things have changed for me (Especs, previous Balance patches).
    I am mainly interested in PvP and WvW so watching these videos is a really good source of info, even more cuz I don't know who to play, so anything that can give me a clearer picture of how certain especs are played could help me find a new main profession to play.
    I do think that Duelist could be a role I would like to play. I don't like to be squishy but I do want to do dmg. I am waiting a video about them :)

    Hey Vallun, I am newer to the game (2-3 weeks) and im playing druid. I like druid alot but ive searched your channel and only found one video of druid so far and that was WvW condi druid. i was wondering if you could tell me more about druid healing and builds maybe? i'd appreciate it alot and any tips or pointers could help too. i mostly do WvW with others and i support them. right now im running a glyph build, i'd run spirits but they die too often and its too much moving for PvP. so any builds (preferably a glyph build) would be awesome. Thanks!

    • @Vallun
      @Vallun  Před 3 lety +2

      druids get most of their healing from celestial avatar and spamming the 3 and 4 in there. Youll want to have as much CA generation as possible which means lots of small heals from regeneration duration, but in WvW that usually gets overwritten sometimes by other supports. You can try to get your CA access from beast mastery trait that heals your pet over time (pet healing also gives you CA) and the nature magic trait that gives regeneration on your warhorn 5 for the most access to Celestial Avatar which is where most of your support comes from. Glyphs are nice too and you can add those in as you see fit.

    • @rezentful1749
      @rezentful1749 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Vallun thats a good idea, running beast mastery trait. i was running skirmishing for quick draw for celestial form but i feel its very cluttered to use it in WvW. very inconsistent. i am using Axe/Warhorn though so ty for that confirmation. glyphs are viable? or not at all do you think? and from what i can tell druid is a very dead class.

  • @0pos84
    @0pos84 Před 3 lety

    @Vallun Proof me please wrong, but in order to have support work, you need longer fights. There is so much burst in this game, that more dmg will destry any support comp. The only thing that really breaks pure DMG is CC.

    • @Vallun
      @Vallun  Před 3 lety +1

      as i said teammates who kite and use terrain will gain more benefit from support because they dont instantly die so they live long enough for the support to happen. Still you want your teammates to do damage so they shouldnt also be running tanky builds to get value from your sustain. In other words your teammates have to be worth supporting. Hard mitigation can come from firebrand moreso than any other support if you want to prevent burst damage. CC is nice as well but situational.

    • @hockeyfreak2700
      @hockeyfreak2700 Před 3 lety

      Mostly when you try to split their attention. If you're stacked up with an ally on a point it's easy for them to drop AOE on the point. If you own the point or want to contest it in say, a 2v2. Ideally you would have one person on the point and one "peel" to pull their attention away, then when the person on the point gets low or is out of cd, you would switch.

    • @Vallun
      @Vallun  Před 3 lety

      think of it like an orange peel, the fruit inside is your teammate and the outer skin is the enemy who are attacking them. You peel them off making your team mate more free to do what they want and less likely to get pressured and die

    Beside of other builds I'm playing core guard as Support. Lightly different from metabuild.com. More Focus on shouts. Without the sigill and 1-2 other things I changed. For me works better...it's enjoyable and golden and btw. an acceptable bunker too, but you need experienced and chilled Players in your team. I enter often in platdivision, but cant stay long there, bad matchmaking, to many new players, salty afk's and so on (another story).
    The thing what I wanted to say, I noticed you aren't focused hard in this Video (the part as heal Fb I only watched). My experience is that, when enemy team notice you play Support Guard, you will become Focus No.1. In every situation...ALWAYS!!! They even leave the other Focus, when you enter in teamfights or don't care to hold their point. Sometimes it feels like the enemy Player tries to troll you. It becomes a Witch-hunt. And if you are unlucky, your Team doesn't help you and use the pressure free situation to cap the point, to loose it again in few moments later in outnumbered situation while you are lying dead on the ground.
    You can hear I passed many hard times. So because I am wondering how you play it free in many situations without pressure on you. I mean really hard pressure 3v1 or 4v1. Or did you just sort out the right matches for this video???
    Another thing what I wanted to say is, that I hope the pvp community will appreciate there are ppl playing Support builds. The general oppinion is very toxic. High burst , fast damage and cc spaming are the only thing what counts .They underestimate the Potential and probably don't know how to play with a supporter in a team. I remember old days of GW2, where a Healguard was welcome in pvp matches and not be flamed to playing one...it's really sad. So I am glad to see that a "celebrity Player" keep Support Builds alive and show alternatives playstyles.

    • @Vallun
      @Vallun  Před 3 lety

      core guard is definitely a more tanky option that is harder to focus than firebrand, but firebrand gives more utility so i prefer it, and yes the specific video for the firebrand was more to show about how roles can be awkward, if you want a match that shows more about kiting then i would watch the scrapper and tempest match which tests the supporting capabilities moreso than the rotational capabilities.
