Hi, Michael... if you run the drain line straight back to the wall, then run the drain pipe right along the base board (or where the wall meets the floor) then back out from there just in time to go into the drain, it should be out of your way with little to no chance of anyone tripping over it. I'd consider running your drain lines in a horseshoe pattern. ie, run them along the bottom of the 20 gallon rack towards the ten gallon rack, across the bottom of the ten gallon rack and then back towards the washing machine etc by going along the wall. Almost zero chance of tripping on a pipe. Just extra piping. Just take into account your slope run.

Have you thought about doing any dirty tanks? You won't have to do any waterchanges, you would just have to top off water when needed... plus u ou wouldn't need airlines and your plants would give your fish oxygen they need... anyway glad to see your fish room is going in the right direction, also I really like your reviews... your honest and that means a lot to me... thank you

Hey Micheal. It's great to see a video from you. As far as the problem with the drain goes, I think you should do whichever is going to be EASIEST on you to maintain in the long run. IDK that much about plumbing for that many tanks, so that's the best I have to offer. 😞 sorry. Bit I do think that you need to think about the labor intensive and your heart health. I hope this helps. At least a little. 😊

I set up my linear piston airpump like Dean did from Dean's Fish at aquarium co-op. I really like it. I have a battery backup on the one air pump now, so in a power outage, I still have air running to sponge filters in all the tanks. Some tanks have hob filters too, but in a pinch, I have the sponge filters going. It also gives me a sponge filter I can use for a quicker new setup. I don't have automatic water changes yet though. I use a python. It works for now. I look forward to seeing your progress. Peace. -Monica 💦🌿🐟

I would personally do the sump, it's just a tank or a bucket in the back corner and out of the way.
One miss step on the pipe and it could take out a few tanks and that would be a lot worse than having to work around a sump 2-3 times a year.

Coming along. Keith is the best with out a doubt. I am curious about the cinder blocks. Are they free standing or is there something securing them that I can’t see? I have watched Keith’s video on this subject. Still nervous to try it and I am only contemplating 2-4 five gallon tanks.
Just gravity. I have used this method many times before and it works great.
run the drain across the floor and then make a wooden ramp or some sort of ramp to run over the top of it so its not a trip hazard. Then you can paint it orange or yellow, just a thought.

If the bottom row of tanks in your middle rack had bulkheads drilled higher up on them, would they be able to gravity feed into your drain pipe? It looks like you might just make it

Personally if it was me I wouldn't bother with the sump, I'd try to run the drain via the least used place possible and even if I did need to access there or walk through that space occasionally I'd just make a wooden box/trunking/step to go over it so I didn't kick it accidentally.

I noticed that those 20 high tanks don't have support on the ends of the tanks. Do you only need the support towards the center of the tanks? If so that opens up some opportunity for me to add some tanks at my house that would overhang like those that I was nervous about. Or am I missing something? Fish room is looking good!
Nope, I’ve always had about 2-3 inches in either side of overhang. Watch my old fish room videos, you’ll see.
