So is flying with a level 1 crew really that bad?
After a minute of extensive testing, I came to the conclusion that it is indeed atrocious. Luckily the A6M5 Zero is relatively slow so you're not passing out every move you make. This changes drastically in jets.

See, this is the real deal. Many players dont have high level crews. You should make a series where you try out well known planes with low level crews to make a comparison and show people how much of a difference there is between crews with different planes. That would be great!

It's similar to tanks. Without weapon reloading at minimum, it feels like someone with maxed out reload and leadership can reload his gun 1-2s faster. Personally, after maxing weapon reload, leadership, targeting, agility and repair, I sometimes feel like I'm fighting fresh out of academy green crews with crews that survived both world wars.
As a fairly good ground player with a wide variety of crew levels, it's just wild how much of a difference everything makes. Love when I pop a T-34(1942) in the neck with Pak 40 APHE and the driver turns yellow, but the next guy, same tank, same shot, all four crew die. Balanced.

@@bradenhagen7977 Yeah soviet WW2 tanks have invisible spall liners and plasma shields between the crew members. I can't count the number of times I've penetrated a T-34s turret with a 75mm APHE round and only killed the loader. Soviets definitely have something going on, but crew vitality definitely makes a significant difference.
You know what i think would be a good and informative series ? Ways 2 deal with the diff types of planes .. Like the slow and turning zero's .. or the diff type of Energy fighters or the Speed Demons that are the US .. You made a good point with the zero being right above you .. even if you are fast it will still leave a window of attack for that zero . So maybe when 2 attack or the direction 2 extend etc..
when you think about it, this is basically the japanese version of having a child conscript flying a plane instead of tanks unlike germany

It has real "undercover boss" vibes: the eminently skilled giga gamer/content creator seeks to walk a mile in the noobie's/layman's shoes. I have a lot of Smite (3rd person MOBA) and WoW (MMO) PVP in my gaming background and lots of time watching the elite pvp content creators from those games on youtube. It's a common theme among them (and you[it's a good thing]) to do vids/series about helping their audience get better - and meeting them where they're at to get them growing. Just like you did with the lvl 1 crew.
That's a really long way of saying "hey, other game-tubers do this too, and I like it plus its always v popular wqith the audience - more please!. lol. Thanks for the vid.

Great Video, wished I knew that back in 2013. Im stuck with my crappy crewchoices now. It sucks that Gaijin doesnt let you change your Crewskills so I dont have to dedicate a slot to tank or plane

This is kind of a stupid tip but it worked for me. If you have a premium heli it can be very useful to grind crew skill for planes. Heli crew skill doesn''t matter much, but me grinding the Russian heli tree (without Ka-50) gave me a level 75 air crew by the time I unlocked the Havoc. So if you buy a premium heli and use it to grind a nation's tree you can save your eagles that way. It's a bit ass-backwards but it worked for me.
How do you maneuvuer your plane while looking behind you to keep track of where the enemy is?

This plane is literally my SL printer. What I find funny to is that I'm ok to bad with every Japanese fighter but the Zeros....all of them. I think I'll enjoy the F-14A in the same way I enjoy the AV-8A, but the Zero is just relaxing lol.
i usually focus on stamina,vitality, and g tolerance after i max those out then i start upgrading random shit so i can get the crew up to ace
I've had to do the lvl 1 crew thing in conjunction with some of my tank lineups since I didn't plan out my crews well on some nations. I've also noticed this is an issue on some jets before you unlock the G-suit.
It’s a bigger issue with jets. Without expert, you g-loc nonstop from 7-g turns even if your stamina and g-tolerance are maxed out.
@@kommandantkillcode exactly which is why I was trying to train up the crew with a lower ranked premium. Also you can continuously tap negative g while making hard turns as long as someone is not on you to help avoid g lock.

ltankhsd Also, I do already tap the negative pitch, and I still will over-g because the time it takes to over-g in jets is ridiculously low so the only way to avoid it is to keep using negative pitch until your turn is as wide as an F-104.
I'm so used to not blacking out in jets at 8.7 (g91 r/3 maxed ace crew) that now playing the dh venom (2 stamina 2 g-tolerance basic crew) is painful.

@Nightmare The Zero is a very serious threat for sure, but idk about op simply because a wise pilot in a faster plane can easily dictate the terms of the fight.
@Nightmare You have to extend horizontally against zero's. Going vertical on a zero even if your going faster can still be a fatal mistake.

A6ms aren't overpowered, they're just extremely tedious to kill with a very low skill floor
@Nightmare You have to be patient when fighting a skilled Zero pilot. You have to understand that the Zero can out accelerate and out turn, and even somewhat out climb most planes it fights. You have to use your superior speed and high alt performance to force the Zero beneath you. It takes time and patience but it is key.

I've heard people call this the best zero which is weird, considering the Otsu in the normal tree beats this in almost everything at the same br, and you can fly the same plane but with 25 shots less per cannon at a lower br in the tree. The premium tier IV stuff is nice, but still...
I'm coming to that conclusion myself. I have both, but just unlocked the otsu. I'm looking at the planes, like "what am I missing?"
@@justinsane332 The additional armour on the otsu takes away some climbing performance and top speed. Besides that, yeah, mostly just premium benefits on the ko. A nice plane to grind Tier V.

Before I started playing War Thunder I was playing a 6V6 shooter game. The clan I was in had a feeder clan to bring n new players and work with them in the game and when they progressed they were moved into the main clan. Is there any Squadron you may know of that has a feeder squadron?

going from German to Japanese for me is hard as hell. Their guns are so weak. Nimble though.
Same. I expected for zeroes to be good coming from 109s but i couldn't make them work at all. Easily counterable planes with weak ass guns.

ah, ahm...another question. i noticed you can put crews in different aircraft and buy certain planes, but as soon as you grinded a new plane, and want to put the experienced crew in the next aircraft, you have to leave the other aircraft. right? 🤔
how do you keep your low tier setup for the arcade airbattles? 🤔
in air rb it is ok to change crews to another aircraft, because your battle rank in your lineup does not matter as you get matched according to the plane you are flying with, but what if i just have a tier 1 bomber and all my fighters are rank 2? what is a battle rank and so on? the game itself just does not explain it clearly...
You can create a new setup for different uses, it's the arrows next to the buttons where you pick your ground/planes/naval setup
Focus on 1 crew, sadly you will have to buy the expert for every vehicle you put in the slot yes

Yeah, I feel that. I came from there. A6M5 Ko, rank 1 crew. This plane ground me through the ranks to where I am currently, rank 5, and with maxed out stamina and g-tol, I... absolutely hate it. Yeah. The play style of a Zero is the playstyle of treading barefoot on shards of glass, and wielding a feather against people with sledgehammers and jackboots.
Haha. I have a friend I always fly with. We almost never do Japan and zeroes (no challenge=no fun). One day we did zeroes with level 10is crews and were blacking out so hard we kept attacking each other in fur balls

A friend gifted me the A6M5 Ko, and I've been trying to play it and grind through Japan. But I hate it. I get more sparks than i do with the spitfire..

To be honest, I think this pilot behaves more like a human instead of someone who can take 11G several seconds without passing out.
A real pilot can do that 11gs
@@sule.AAre you kidding, even the most experienced pilots can hold 9g for only 2-3 seconds. Heck many top of the line airframes aren't rated for anything above 7g within safe limits.

My level one crew takes 24gs for three seconds
As someone who started playing four months ago, I can tell you that this shit is painful. And leveling a crew for each nation takes annoyingly long. Oh and experting/acing crews is even worse..
I started 2 months ago the most I have got to is the thyphoon MK 1/L (I have got most countries America,Sweden and Germany all at tier 3) But yeah It's very annoying

Honestly for me i just keep losing plane after plane after plane I just don’t know what to do I can’t get any kills with the zero. a waste of silver lions.
Your a bait fighter, as long as the other player doesn’t know what they are doing, then you can turn them out. For shooting, fire 400 meters or .28 miles from the target and use the mgs to lead. For head ons, never do them, evade and pull up and over to get in his 6. If they BnZ you, wither down them lower and lower and sap their energy. Remember, you are a bait fighter, and that is the cold truth. You may not get much kills, but you can set him up for others to take down. Best effects are playing with friends. Hope this helps dude.

@@vergil8257 you're not a bait fighter, more like a support fighter, you climb behind the rest of the team until you reach 5km and start diving on any isolated planes. If someone starts running just climb, you have no chance of catching up.
I would Like to Share My Experience I'm a Level 65 Player and Most of My Pilot in USA, USR & UK are Level 50~60 and Mostly Invested in G-Tolerance and Stamina so it was Great since I Grind them from Tier I to Tier V so I doesn't clearly Feel the Effects of Low Level Pilot since I Gradually Leveling them Up then I Bought the Chinese Premium A6M2 via Warbonds Last Month and I Flew it in a Fresh from the Hangar Level 1 Pilot since it's My 1st Aircraft in China Tech Tree and I have a Hard Time doing some High Speed Maneuvers like what I did in my High Level Pilot in a Spitfire as My Low Level Chinese Pilot would Curse Me right after He Recover from a Blackout
honestly, Japanese aircraft are very forgiving when it comes to its crew. Even when blacked out they still have one of the highest turn speeds
