Great comparison but I think you missed what are for me the two most important pros/cons.
1. When using my GoPro for skiing or cycling shots with a helmet or handlbar mount it's a challenge to make sure the camera is pointing at the right angle up or down. When reviewing the footage I've often got a poor composition with too much sky or ground. The X3 avoids this worry - just shoot and get the perfect framing afterwards.
2. The horizon lock and stabilisation in the X3 are amazing so there's no concern about keeping the camera level. In the GoPro horizon lock and stabilisation are not available in the majority of shooting modes - which is a real pain.
For stabilised, well-composed action shots X3 is the only choice.

Great comparison. I just love the quality you get out of the GoPro, it's way more cinematic, and I love the slow mo modes at higher resolutions. And it's so easy to pull into a traditional timeline with other cameras. With that said, I just picked up the x3 for some more unique shots, and to be honest, I'm kind of struggling with the edit. It takes a bit more time to get use to.

Hi Jordan is the insta360 book available on ios? I don’t have kindle i can only read from my ipad using the ibooks app
As a cyclist, I definitely go for Insta 360. It opens up a new level of shooting in bike riding. For example, if you install it on the handlebar, you can show the front view or your selfie or side view. This requires only one shooting!
Which one easy to transfer the video to mobile ?
The GoPro makes you look like you're riding so slow and shows no death. The extra makes you look like you're going twice as fast until all the depth

Very good work on that comparaison nicely done to detail each feature for both camera's.😉 Personaly I have both camera's so Insta360 X3 and Gopro 10&11. Actually I like both cam's I think the difference is more on the way to do the things or view what an action camera is, this is a different approach that's it. Again Thx much for the work done, this does confirm what I did see when using them. 👍

Great video Jordan. I once had a friend who uses the gopro and I always wanted one, but since I am a careful person and I take things serious and want to not miss shots all the time. I rather go with the insta360 because you honestly unlock a lot of benefits for it.

I found when using my old GoPro for snowboarding (and winter shots in general) the battery would die after a very short period of use - no such problem with the Insta360 X3, where the battery lasts most of the day (I even bought two extra batteries but have never needed to change one on a days snowboarding).
Also my GoPro used to overheat and crash when it got too hot using it in summer temperatures - apparently this is still a problem for the latest versions of the Hero10 and 11.
The invisible selfie stick with the X3 is a game changer for my shots, and the fact you don't have to plan what to point it at to get a shot is great too - in-front or behind you you're always in shot.
Thanks for the feedback! The invisible selfie stick is an awesome tool for snowboarding! Just so you know, GoPro came out with the Enduro battery, which works a lot better in cold climates (and it lasts longer). Have fun boarding- there has been tons of snow this year!

You've really gotta baby that camera though.
You can't even put it down with damaging the lenses.
The picture quality is already lacking a little without the lense protector.
Does the handle turn into a tri pod? Maybe owning both cameras is the way to go?

Awesome video. It's my opinion a person should be budgeting for both cameras. I started with the GoPro and have the insta 360 on order. The biggest advantage of the 360 is the endless B-roll it can provide.

@@JordanHetrick I thought I recognized the scenery! I’m in Oahu but went to Maui for vacation the last two summers. Hopefully I’ll get to go again before this summer is over. BTW, I had the insta 360 X 3, but scratched the lens. Luckily I had the accident protection, so it wasn’t a total loss. I took the credit and bought the GoPro Hero 9 for a fraction of the cost. I was going to get another Insta 360 and use the lens guards, but the instructions state not to use them underwater. Well, you know being in Hawaii, you’re gonna be in the water, so I didn’t want to have to take them on and off.
He doesnt mention that you can add the max lenda mod to give 155 degree fov.. which makes it super wide...
Good review, but I would be interested in a comparison of the Insta360 ONE RS vs the X3/GoPro 11. If you are interested in both a traditional action camera and a 360 camera, is this a good choice as opposed to buying two separate cameras?

Buying one or the other today! So hard to pick. Think I'll lean to the x3 cause I'm filing myself riding ebikes. And mostly do yt shorts. Think thats the right call? Only have enough for one :(

I’m thinking to move to insta just for a change. Would you think it’s a good idea since I was using goPro for many years? and are there any advantages for me to move to insta ? Thank you
I used GoPro from Hero2+ to Hero 9 black and I just switched to insta360 X3 two months ago. How say...I think there are many difference mostly in the use of that camera. Is so simple making unique shots and reframing is pretty funny. I noticed some lack of image quality but you can play on shot's dynamics making very immersive camera movements and at least the quality could be not a so big issue.

Since you already have a Hero 11, it sounds like you are in a great position to add the X3 to your camera toolkit. I really love using both of the cameras. There are definitely some advantages to using a 360 camera like the X3, like I showed in the video.
I recommend that you add the X3, rather than "switch". Then, you can see through your experience which camera you end up using more for your lifestyle. I hope that advice helps!

Amazing cameras, I am convinced by the X3 thanks to the uniqueness of the invisible selfie stick and the assurance that I never miss a shot! At the end of the day I post 99% of my content on social media or iMessage so I don't need all the 4K blabla 😄

Which would be a better option for underwater videos?
Great question! The X3 is awesome when using the Invisible Dive Case (check out my video about that) for some really unique perspectives. The X3 has to be in a case underwater to capture clear images.
Overall though, for general filming in higher resolution, the Hero 12 is going to be an easier camera to work with underwater. It doesn't require an additional housing until you go below 33' deep. I also have a video with some underwater GoPro filming tips on my channel, so check that out if you decide to go with the Hero 12. My books are really helpful too. Thanks and I hope that helps!
What would be best for snowboarding??
The GoPro is a bit easier throw in your pocket. If you are filming other people, I would go with the GoPro. If you want the invisible selfie stick effect following you down the mountain, go with the X3.
So what video editing software do you recommend for an amateur?
Are you editing Insta360 footage or traditional "reframed" videos?

Try Adobe Premiere Rush (computer/phone/tablet) or CapCut on a phone/tablet. Both of those are relatively simple to start with but still offer a lot of editing flexibility.

How does the X3's lens cope with salt water (windsurfing)
It's definitely harder to keep water drops off the lens with the X3, especially in windy conditions, like windsurfing. A GoPro has a bit of a hard time too with the spray. It sheds water off more effectively when it's actually submerged. But side-by-side, a GoPro is easier to deal with for windsurfing.
Every action camera has it pros and cons.. Depends upon the user, but trust me Insta 360 X3 is unique and more fun camera in 360 technology, also single lens mode in insta 360 x3 gives FOV+ 170° ultra-wide
Great video. However (the trollers most used phrase, but I’m no troller) the first mistake is using GoPro as a comparison, DJI Action 3 is soooo much better! Getting my 360 tomorrow though, so excited for that.

Here's the bottom line if you want to look like you're going fast or doing anything play riding bike store Motocross look at the comparison and tell me which one looks faster. The X3 makes you look like you're ripping

Thanks for the comment. Obviously, Max and the X3 are more along the same line. I've had so many people ask whether they should buy a 360 camera or a regular camera like the Hero 11, so that is the question I wanted to answer for people in this video. Max vs. X3 would be a great one too.
The insta total rubbish pixels always braking up sound quality is 💩 had both over the last few years and sold them both because of the issue I said

@@dm40.1 tons of people use these tools with great effect, including myself. Maybe it’s you? I can work GoPro footage into a video where the rest is shot my with Sony fx3 and it works just fine. GoPro footage worked into cinema quality footage. You just have to realize the limitation of the tools you’re using.
