I don’t like the stability (freezing, breaking) and overheating of gopros.
I would like to try that tiny camera as well, if it is reliable (leave and not be afraid it will stop recording).
GO3 is definitely reliable. I placed it in a tree, went away and it recorded for 35 min before i went out and stopped it👍

Great job on the honest review from experience. I recently just bought the X3 and the GO 3 and they are great, but I agree with you that the X3 is a game changer. The versatility is awesome once you get past the strange 'not having to frame everything'. It's like having a little flying camera guy floating around you and filming.

Apples and oranges. Go 3 is a different animal than the other 3. The selling point for the Go 3 is it’s size.
Absolutely, in another video they point out that it only records up to 50 fps, for a 2023 action cam?
Smaller size doesn’t mean you can’t compare it to other cameras that do the same thing. If anyone shouldn’t be in the list it is the 360 camera. It the only one that’s truly different from the rest.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking at getting the Action 3 and Insta Go 3. With that said one problem many have seen with the Go 3 is the audio not syncing with the video correctly when imported into FCPX. This seems to happen with larger files but for the amount of money spent this should not be an issue. Have you seen this problem with the Go 3? Have you edited footage in FCPX? Love to hear your thoughts on it.
After watching thousands of videos and listening to people I have chosen the DJI action 3, never had any issues until now it's been 6 months of using it. My friend purchased a GoPro which was much more expensive than my action 3 and he had faced issues many times, frame freeze, no audio and sometimes black video.

I owned the GO2, and I LOVED IT. Too see them add voice control and waterproof along with large memory on the Go3. And the stability is FANTASTIC
Very nice comparison, Especially that part about the resolution not being the main deciding factor. After all most of them have the same sensor size, and sensor size is what matters not resolution and even for videography the lower the megapixels the better, A7SIII is just 12 mpx.
today, I tried the GO 3 that I got few days ago, in a 38 C weather here in United Arab Emirates and recorded 20 mins straight in the sun at 11 am and nothing bad happened. So no overheating for me at all. I mean if it works that well in UAE summer which is scorching hot then it'll work anywhere just fine! And something really good about GO 3 image that feels nostalgic and it fits right with the pro-mist/ Nostalgia filters that all creators are using nowadays, but in this case its straight outta camera

Great review/comparision. I agree 100% with your assessment. I had an Action 3 with focus issues so I sent it back. I already had a GP11 & One X2 & X3 so I stuck with them. Otherwise the A3 is great. The Gp11 is more reliable than those before it but that's not saying much. I still use it in static camera placement shots mostly though. I got a Go 3 this week & also agree with you. It would be great on family trips. The 2 pieces makes for fun & flexible filming with kids.

I've had a Hero 11 & X3 but I picked up the GO 3 and will now sell the Hero 11, its nice to be on one company's ecosystem / app for ease of use and the GO 3's flexibility + the X3 together more than makes up the lower resolution for my purposes... the more I film the better.

@@pixelplay1098 Unfortunately, there is no SD card slot in Go3. This is one of the reason why I choose X3 over Go3 for my first action camera.

I was doing research this past week to buy my first " sport camera ". Of the reviews I went thru, I appreciate yours the most ( & your calm tone ). After listening to you , I quickly dismissed GoPro which was my first choice. My second choice was Go3 before, I had a tough time deciding which Insta360 to buy. I finally decide on X3.

I like your take on this. action cam has tiny sensor, and tiny sensor is tiny sensor. the video quality is negligible unless you pixel peep it, which is weird tbh. even when you get the best quality, assuming you are uploading it on CZcams, CZcams compression will destroy it anyway, . my expectation for new action cam is battery life, stabilization and additional features like insta 360 go 3 or x3.

I want to mount an action cam to a full frame mirroress camera. This would be great to capture BTS of my professional photo sessions. Is there an easy way to do this with the Insta 360 X3 or Go 3?
I have the Action 3 and the X3 with a GO 3 on the way. I find myself using the Action 3 mostly, but the X3 is my favorite so far. But I might lean on the GO 3 as a replacement for the Action 3. I'm still a very new user of these cameras so I'm learning as I go as well. It's been a blast using the Action 3 and X3 so far.

I am using gopro hero 7 . During my recent trip to Thailand I did record every water sports like snorkels kayaking scuba diving and landscape. Videos were amazing fish eye effects disfigured my face though
I have the GoPro Hero 10 and 11 and they rarely fail. I have the DJI Action 2 as well, which I rarely use. Actually the Action 2 often can not shoot in cold water, I get some message about environmental conditions. The GoPro shoots in 8 C degree water no problem. The quality is better and the hydrophobic coating keeps water drops away most of the time (although it wears out and then I replace the lens cover). The DJI has better menu/user interface, but the GoPro have more settings to lower sharpening and saturation. DJI is too contrasty, I would rather add contrast while editing.
The Insta Go3 it is nice and small, but if the battery runs out you can not keep shooting.
The GoPro takes nice 20 megapixel stills. Also shooting 5.3K i found myself face to face with a sandtiger shark, that made a U turn in front of me, and I could get high resolution stills from the footage, I can print or post on my website and instagram.
The GoPro has several advantages. I am tempted by the Action 3, but even if rated with higher water resistance than the GoPro, the Hero single door latch seems better engineered than the 2 small door DJI action 3 design. A single large door is one less point of failure for water leaks than the DJI design.
GoPro may not be innovative, but for me it is reliable, has better resolution for stills, more dynamic range, sharper than the competition. I used to have also the original Osmo Action. The GoPro also produces better quality and smaller file sizes than DJI in my experience.

Hi, tq for your offer to help us choose, because I’m still struggling to decide. I’m going for a trekking trip in Nepal. When I went there the last time, I brought a Panasonic GF1 for photos and used my phone for wide angles and videos. But this time I’m thinking of using just one device and I’m thinking of either a compact camera, an action camera or a 360. I’ve never used an action or 360 camera before, so I don’t know what to expect. My shooting styles are mostly environmental portraits, architectural and sceneries. I also like to shoot videos: mostly short clips to be stitched later and occasionally some long clips for time lapse. Temperature can drop to below zero at night when we reach the higher parts but i seldom reach for my camera at night. Charging is usually with a powerbank or when we get to a tea house. Appreciate your help, thanks.
Thanks for the video Rob, much appreciated. I have looked at reviews of the Go 3, X3, Ace Pro, Osmo Pocket 3, and iPhone 15 ProMax and am having trouble deciding which one to go with. I am a magician that wants to get reactions of the people I perform for, as well other simple video of venues and me performing magic. The biggest piece is I don't want to do any post editing (meaning I get the video and can do what I want with it then and there without any downloading or extra computer software). Ideally, I shoot the video, maybe do some sleight editing (simple color correction, cutting the video down, simple transitions) on a phone or tablet (with no transfer of files), then post that video to CZcams or Instagram. Do you have any thoughts for what might make the most sense for this? Thank you!
I've had a Go Pro 10 for the longest time, and use it for my b-roll, time lapse, water vlogs, etc, but it's SO unreliable. Turns off randomly, sometimes doesn't turn on etc. It's a bit of a headache to deal with. I'm seriously considering the 360 GO. 3 and/or the X3 for a different style of b-roll but can't decide if I buy the GO 3 instead of a new Go Pro. Sigh.

Finally someone who says that resolution isnt everything. Seen way to much people saying gopro has the highest resolution it must be the best.
I brought a lot of cameras for my summer holiday including a gopro, dji pocket, x3 and one r. Found myself basically only using the x3. I have ordered a go3 (unfortunatly it relased the day I left and i didnt find anyone who had it in stock at the places i visited) for the size and the mounting options. I will probably only bring the go3 and the x3 in addition to my drone for my next trip

Nice comparison. So many subtle differences. I have the Insta 360 X3 and have found it fairly unstable. I'll probably end up getting the next GoPro, but the Action 3 wasn't really on my radar.

I have an Insta360 X3 and recently had it on 4K, front lens only as "action camera". Battery fully charged, not an overly hot day, but after about 30 min the recording stopped. Plenty of SD card space and plenty of battery left. I couldn't tell why it stopped, didn't feel hot to my fingers, but I was discouraged. From minimal search, perhaps some others have experienced something similar. I like other aspects of the 360, but don't know what to think of this. Thanks for your great video here.
It is said X3 will auto stop recording after 30 minutes, and after pause about 15 seconds, it will start work again. I dont have X3, just read it somewhere and FYI. You can test it.

If you film 1.5 hours, at the end you'll have 3 files of 30 min each, but is no biggie, will be edited anyway.

Continuous recording is important if you are recording sports matches. I record my table tennis matches so I can watch myself to improve. Gopro 11 overheats in the second game of a match. Major fail.
Which one better for sport sir? I need to buy one for analysis my youth football team.
@@daboofighto6051 I use my DJI pocket 2. It can record for a long time without overheating, but it's more fragile than GoPro.
@@daboofighto6051using aluminum case helps a lot with overheating by better distributing the heat.
Also you can charge with power bank at the same time so battery won't run out. Use shade or a small umbrella to avoid direct sunlight

Any difference in dynamic range/ low-light performance between the cameras?
I think the GoPro 11 has a larger more square sensor. apparently if you shoot with the correct settings you can change aspect ratio later in post. It seems that even if you shoot with a cropped aspect ratio like 16:9, you can get the top and bottom back afterwards
I would assume that GoPro has only a slightly larger sensor. But utilising the full sensor means that all recording and photos are going to have the fish eye effect, which is not for me i must say.
What about the Action 2? It seems to be better quality over the Go 3, with a small form factor.

I just bought a DJI OA3 and my wife bought an X3... we love them both.
Now I just have to settle on an editor. We use Filmora. But I find it clunky. I’ve used Logic Pro X for many many many years. But don’t want to pay 500 AU Dollars for Final Cut. So the search continues ;)
Plus the G0 3 can be clipped to your cap and film whatever gets your attention!

The higher res is for people with computers and monitors. Most phones default a pretty low resolution and 1080 looks fine. I like 4k. After youtube compression it still makes a pretty good image. The editing i do doesn't take long. Its moving giant files around that takes time.

For the price and easy handling I am thinking about getting insta 360 go 3, I want to record my drawing and doing embroidery video for my small business and also for family vlogs and travel vlogs. For sit down video, is it suitable to get the Go 3? I can't afford to get two cameras i.e DSLR (fir drawing video) , and Go 3 for family/travel vlogs. After doing a lot of research I think Go 3 is the one. But if you guys here who clearly have more expertise in cameras, what do you guys think? Somebody feel free to reply !

You can dump the files on your phone/tablet/pc. Getting the 128gb will keeep you busy for days i reckon before you need to dump the files👍😊

For me as a cyclist O want to record around 2h even if I need to chnage battery, image quality is important. I like what the x3 xan do, but the image is not so sharp, the action 3 looks good to and the app is faster than gopro quik
I would love to buy the insta 360 go 3 i think its easier to use.
Sold my X3 and keep the Gopro. X3 is a great "do it all" camera with great softwares but it's too fragile. Gopro is my go to camera for mountain biking videos.

I like that gopro is going for best image quality. In terms of versatility I think that it's underrated simply because of the resolution and frame rate you get from it. Seen so many comparison videos and the best gopro setting beats every other action cam it comes up against. That extra resolution is great for anyone trying to do a little more cropping. And, at this point, I could care less about apps or on board memory. In terms of usability you can't beat a good old memory card for file transfer.

@@NoName-rg3npI'm sorry, but a gopro with maxed out resolution, frame rate and stabilization can't record for more than 5 minutes in anything but the winter or under water. Go pros are garbage. Overheat like crazy, cook batteries, die out all the time, etc.
Your experience doesn't mean anything, you gotta look at other people's experiences too. They fail all the time and this is known to anyone who actually uses them for what they're designed for.
Go Pro, being a pro in every aspect has a heater to warm the air around you.

So, I got to ask a question about what camera someone could recommend for me to go for.
Some insight, I like to camp, hike, backpack, ride gravel bike and kayak/paddleboard. I would like to start vlogging however with my confidence with actually doing that and having things to say or talk about I am almost wondering about just creating videos of me doing these things with just music or the background sounds of nature while hiking or kayaking. I haven't quite yet figured out what id like to do. In one way I wouldn't mind doing hiking/backpacking gear reviews but at the same time those would be few and far in-between as i don't make the kind of money id need to buy new gear constantly in order to review them.
I kind of feel like the insta 360 go 3 would suit most of my needs however no Sd card....if i brought that with me on a trip id need a laptop, I do have a phone but i have the s23 ultra and its limited storage which I'm using already half of or more but also the sound quality doesn't seem appealing.

My DJI action 3 stopped working I one inch of water. So far they are stalling in looking at it after only 6 months.

Go 3 because of size, but i mostly use it in the cradle so isn't much different from my gopro 🤷♂️

I really don't understand people that are complaining about the reframing with the X3. That's the feature what did you expect? 🤷♂
But my X3 got hot really really quickly and the video quality wasn't convincing at all. Plus I found the lenses to be so delicate that it stressed me out. I really wanted to like the X3 but I returned it.
Maybe I'll give the next version another try.

What about sound recording?
I am between Go 3 and Action 3, the fact that we are limited by the storage space on Go 3 is what is putting a big CON on it, at least for me. I mean the go 3 could be fun, but if I am traveling and don't have a PC around, I will be stuck without the option to change SD cards. What do you think?
You can also dump the files on your smartphone or tablet and then move it to an SSD which is a more lightweight form of traveling without a PC.
How much time does it take to dump 64gb to phone !? @RobHK considering buying go 3 as my first camera just for sake of convience and post processing
One issue with the go 3 is water does get into it if u drop it 2m deep
They all seem to suffer from overexposure, I got the go 3 and got quite some clips where settings reset or I did not think to check and test, and ruined by over exposure. Something I never have an issue with on say an iPhone. Any tips?
Exposure value to -0.5/-1, always, especially on the X3, GO3 ive put mine on -0.5 now and it makes a difference for what I’m shooting😎

You can transfer to the phone from all the cameras using the apps 👍

Interesting! 2QQ: 1) What's your power-packed model/brand? 2) Does the go 3 tiny camera (without the docking pod) have a more secure fixation than magnetic? I want to use it for surfing/kitesurfing and it needs a pretty strong fixation for crashex/Wipeouts
The magnetic fixation also has locks on the side which are basically impossible to come off
Why not stick the insta360 on top of the helmet instead on the front??

That’s a tough one 😬 X3 will give you more options later if you decide to try new things.
And also the angles you get with the X3 on your bike is just pure satisfaction 🙌

Is it possible to remove the fisheye effect on the X3? I really hate it when the horizon curves or when straight vertical lines become curved.
You can do this in the studio/mobile app
In the app, its a simple reframing change to "linear" . It can crop the wide angle a bit but its a simple one button change.

I just got an Insta360 X3. right out of the box. It crashes constantly in 4K mode. All other modes appear to work just fine. There are TONS of posts on reddit where users expierenced the same issues but with different modes. It constantly crashes, its so sad. I tried everything and now I'm dealing with tech support to see if this is a firmware problem (every update seems to solve some issues and create new ones) or if I have to return it. I'm happy with the camera despite this, is so much fun to use! I just wish that it would have a better software...
There’s a new firmware update which fixes this 😊
Try to do an firmware update, if that doesn't fix the issue then you should return it.
Check if camera is overheating also, let it record until the battery is empty.
If the test pass then is ok.
I am still missing Norway a lot ;-)
