      @@goldstarsupreme it especially sucks because I've actually always wanted a train level but what I always imagined was an intricate passenger train that would occasional stop at different stations and even provide opportunities to stop in the woods or on a bridge or something to prevent escape. I think to key to making a good train level would be to have the train be the center piece but let the player interact with the world outside the train rather than having it just be a moving background

You had a timer to kill one of them and the game randomized his location. In order to figure out where they are, you had to find and kill one, and by looting their walkie talkie, you update the map, showing the other 2.

I worked four years in one of Berlin‘s infamous clubs and I gotta say the attention to detail in this level is amazing. That you have to put a sticker on your phones cameras for example or that you need some kind of token to get into specific parts of the club (the „juice bar“). I’m sure the designers of the level spent some time clubbing in Berlin.

But it would be quite expensive, depending on situation. If you mean 80s raves, where people would host clubs in abounden buildings without asking premision, well it depends, what sort of building/location you planning to host in? does it belong to someone? Is that location strictly prohibited? You would need to find place where it either belongs to no one or owner dosent give a shit and police wouldnt mind. There some of buildings like that. It all depends on your location. I dont think police would arrest you if u did in place that even police dosent remember unless there are clearly a iligal stuff like drug ussage. Plus you would need to find a place that actualy has good conscrutuin and not crumbling or have places like pits where poeple can fall. Anyway these are tips, it will depend on location where are you, some countries and cities have strickter law than another's. Just be safe :)

  • @lemmiix
    @lemmiix Pƙed 2 lety +148

    4:40 well "actively hunting for 47" is a bit exaggerated. They're normal guards just as in other missions, but their voice lines are different. It's not like they become aware of stuff you do and follow the trail 47 leaves behind. Would've loved that tho.
    I really respect IOI for breaking their proven concept of normal missions and trying something at the climax of the game trilogy.
    (IOI if u read this: we want a mission toolbox to create more complex content ourselves plss)
    Edit: what I mean is, the guards are still patrolling, not sweeping the area as intense as in Hitman: Absolution for example. And the only time they become aware of your exact location is when you hide on the water tower. The sniper on the building could've watched over part of the area and spotted 47 if he gets in his FOV for example. Or when taking out a target, some other guards get sent to its last known location, making the escape from each scene more intense.

    • @Tamiss
      @Tamiss Pƙed 2 lety +11

      iirc the sniper guy can take you out which is a first, also they communicate between each other and will converge on your last known position if you're spotted. So yeah they're "just guards" but with some extra behavior for story.

    • @lemmiix
      @lemmiix Pƙed 2 lety +9

      @@Tamiss True. But I'd really like to see some more intelligent AI for this mission since NPCs are generally pretty 'stupid' for stealth purposes (which is totally fine and the right way to do it). But something like "Seems like he took out Bob, Bob was at the weed farm, go sweep the whole building he must be still there" would've increased the intensity so much. And oh boy the feeling of reward when barely escaping the guards and finally taking them out one by one, that would've been truly great. Or sabotages become more obvious to the guards. But I can see how this wouldn't fit the rest of the game.

It was one of the most immersive, and tense stealth missions I've ever played. It was so fun to make my way through, not knowing how many targets there were, where they were, and then when you pick up their headset and can listen in on their conversations, listening to them totally lose their foundation as you keep picking them off. @goranisacson2502 Pƙed 2 lety +38

      I think that's part of what the devs talk about- they tried making the agents aggressive, and that made the stage too punishing to be fun. Anyone of the eleven being able to spot and snipe you would intrigue the hardest of hardcore, and infuriate pretty much everyone else.

    • @blueonthemooon
      @blueonthemooon Pƙed 2 lety +3

      @@goranisacson2502 Hm, maybe it’d be an interesting idea for the devs to add in an optional mode or level variant where the agents are much more stealthy, aware, and active in their hunt. I think a subtle change would feel best, like having the agent walk around in a given area looking around instead of having their standard NPC loops, and just so happen to spot 47 walking by, just like any normal enforcer would

    • @TheFirstBhau
      @TheFirstBhau Pƙed rokem +2

      As Goran mentioned that would make for a cool initial level (although some might find it frustrating), but it would severely hurt the replayability and freedom of the level which many Hitman fans would not like at all. The lack of enforcer markings would also lead to many players feeling that RNG got the best of them instead of genuine difficulty (although they could have done it with one of the targets)
      Also I think it works very well for the story and where it takes place in the trilogy. The level is called Apex Predator for a reason :)

    I would love a co-op “heist” game in the Hitman Engine, like if every mission had a perfect stealth approach but also have half the team go loud as a distraction for 2 others to sneak in as police or something. And even something crazy ambitious like up to 10 players, where the loot scales but the payout is also shared so if anyone doesn’t hold their own they can get a lower cut or something. That allows for varying skill levels to also have fun together. GTA5 kinda has this with the payout being split by the host, but with the host having to fork up all the setup cash at the start.
    Payday 2 kind of has the “stealth co-op heist” stuff but the disguises and choices but I feel like the Hitman engine is really well suited for a silent/methodical approach.

      I have said this about gta online heists. Like imagine cayo perico but you could go in disguised as a potential "buyer" of the target but like the airstrip it requires you to be searched. When I first played Berlin, it wasn't my favourite, I think Dartmoor was a really fascinating and amazing level to come off of on a first time playthrough and going into something that plays as different as Berlin is, well, it hits different. But on replaying levels, Dartmoor with its only one target, its secondary mission that is simply accessing a safe in the same place everytime and now solved detective mystery, it just to me wasn't fun to replay. There are only so many ways to kill a singular target. But Berlin, with its insane replayability, is hands down my favourite. As soon as I had completed the level once, I stopped playing through the story and instantly replayed it. I wanted more. Thematically, storywise, gameplaywise - something about the whole concept of the level is really satisfying and refreshing, really displaying that you're the apex predator by outwitting the other ICA agents. I had the most fun replaying Berlin, and it is my favourite level in Hitman 3 as well.

    I love this story because this ties directly into the story, as well as is very creative with its target design too.
    For story purposes, obviously well, the ICA thinks 47 has run rogue, and thus they're hunting him down. However what I like is that in this 47 is directly involved in the story and is not just a pawn in a war not of his own, as he's been throughout the series so far. This time rather, its personal.
    However what I really like is that 11 Agents hunting 47 down are almost always 'enforcers' in any disguise, which really gives them the sense of being ICA Agents. As if they'd recognize 47 anywhere. So far, no target ever notices, even if 47 looks vastly different from the person he disguised himself as. This gives obvious challenge to the mission.
    Honestly very cool.

    Great video! It kind of reminds me of an idea I thought of for a multiplayer mode for Hitman that could have been more interesting than the original: one player is the assassin trying to kill targets, and the other is a detective trying to find and stop the assassin. For the assassin, it's pretty much Hitman as usual, but with the added wrinkle of knowing there's a real person looking for you, and that you have to avoid and/or fool them (but can't kill them, because that would make the game too easy). In contrast, the detective has complete freedom of movement throughout the level but doesn't know who the assassin is, and has to figure this out from, e.g. finding the last person whose outfit was taken by the assassin, checking cameras, and trying to predict who the next target is. The detective wins if they find and kill the assassin, and the assassin wins if they manage to take out all their targets and escape.

    I've not played this game in over a year, but even with the distance that provides, I'd still have to say this is probably one of the greatest levels of any game that I've ever played. The satisfaction of initially orchestrating the meeting with the club owner, disguising yourself as him and then subsequently taking out the required five targets with a shotgun when they come to the office to ambush you, having seen through your disguise, is virtually unparalleled.

    I wanted to like Berlin, and while I understood what the designers were going for, I never got that "hunter becomes the hunted" feeling. My first playthrough of Berlin was meandering, aimless, and massively overstayed its welcome. It didn't feel cool, or tense, or like a game of cat and mouse. I instead found it boring and frustrating.
    Things changed when the challenges unlocked. Sure, there are no mission stories, but the challenges gave me enough hints to fool around and realise just how flexible and replayable the level truly was. They gave me the first thread to pull on, and then I started having fun.

      That’s a good point and I understand where you’re coming from. Now that you made me think about it, I guess I also put a bit extra effort into trying to enjoy the level on the first play-though. It was probably the cinematic at the beginning and thinking about how this level was in fact different. I did not feel hunted either, just that targets were enforcers

    The feeling of being hunted - not knowing who your targets are or how many, the intense yet heavy music and the sound cues with audio dialogue from the unknown hunters make this the single most immersive hitman missions out of the trilogy. Playing this the first time was easily the most bloodlust driving mission that makes 47 feel at his most vulnerable intel wise and narrative wise but most comfortable setting from a gameplay perspective slipping in and out of the dark, crowded settings full of cover and open, clear lines of sights. The verticality and openness of the space, whilst all remaining mostly “public” in the club setting is so immersive! Also no tacky side objectives like other levels - your just there to kill or be killed. Unquestionably the most satisfying showcase of 47s skill set against an unusually shadowy and capable threat. Awesome level!

    I genuinely love this mission because it 100% make you feel like the title, an apex predator. Montgomery acknowledges it in the shootout, you are THE Agent 47, you're a legend at the ICA and you're proving that to these agents and their handler as you kill. Even as the hunted in this mission you're still at the top of the chain.
    I also love the growing panic you hear from everyone, it almost reminds me of the Arkham Knight game where your enemy's heart rate would slowly crawl up as you took out their allies and, if you left one standing who could detect you, you could totally have like a "Alien" moment where they realize you're right on top of them if you stay near them

    I was sure looking at title that this was gonna be about DartMoor. Glad to be wrong. This isn't the first time they had enforcer targets though. • @Foddeur

    One of the things I enjoy the most about Apex Predator is that it took one of the primary concepts of Hitman Absolution (47, the hunter, becoming the hunted) and made it work in the open-ended sandbox of more traditional Hitman games. While Absolution portrayed the concept across a series of linear levels where 47 is on the run from the Chicago PD or from the ICA's private army when they take over the town of Hope SD, Hitman 3 managed to nail it in a single sandbox.
    The feeling of 47 being isolated in an unfriendly environment, having to scope out his targets while evading discovery himself, gradually gaining more knowledge and slowly turning the tables on the ICA hit squad that has infiltrated nearly every level of the social hierarchy at Club Hölle was absolutely nailed from an in-game and story standpoint, and to this day Berlin remains one of my favourite levels in the franchise.

    My favorite level in trilogy. I love how it changes the formula and makes it one of the most unique missions by making you not even knowing how many targets are there (on first playthrough) and that they are looking for you kinda making 47 a prey but we know how it ends with 47 being the Apex Predator here after all. And having so many targets at the same time and the fact after 5 of them die the rest will evacuate makes it extremely satisfying when you can pull off an elaborate plan to kill all of them.
