Shaw Classic is quickly becoming the best strongman event of the year
I swear the best part of Brian putting on a show, is it's 100% just him saying "see? I told y'all it will work" to every promoter he's worked with for his whole career
His entire show is just him going "ill have my own strongman competition, with food, and bigger rocks" and i love it😂
@@cfields8507 EXACTLY! I don't think anyone can argue Brian is a major reason why the sport has improved in the last decade and a half, and now instead of only being able to tell promoters how they can do better, he's setting the example!

Mateusz when talking to Loz said he wants to go and Brian has invited him every year, Thor has mentioned he’d go and Brian has said he wants him there, Licis is a question mark depending on how many comps he wants to do this year

Loved being a vendor at the expo last year! Our charity raised an amazing $700. Which helped us provide a gaming laptop to a young man with serious heart conditions, that spends most of his life in hospital.

@@toes5032 he ruptured his Achilles at rogue in October. His recovery has been rapid but stones with that triple extension put a big load on the Achilles so I don’t don’t know if he’ll be recovered enough for a 600 lb stone by august. That’s still real early for an Achilles.
@Jacksonboe21 if I was Trey I'd wait till maybe GL World Tour Finals as he will be 100% then because if he were to Shaw Classic and do in his ACL during that show that's another set back
lets not forget hooper, dood trains presses nearly everyday, though i'd have to agree with tom stoltman, it'll probably come between those 2... and if trey were in peak condition too then that'd be your 3 way (nothing against thor but his main game would be deadlift, car press, stuff like that, stones i kinda feel is in thor's B catagory)
@@user-strength10 Thor was always the best stone lifter in his time. If his stones come back like his deadlift has, I think he’ll be right up there.

I love the idea of max dead without suits or figure eight straps. When I trained and competed, I was the only person without a suit (cause I couldn't afford one). Don't get me wrong, I still likely would have lost, but it would have been nice to see how close I was to everyone else :P

Rule change SUGGESTION for deadlift to put on a better show and a better assess who's stronger at the event. On the deadlift, everyone gets 3 lifts, but if you make a lift at or over 1000lbs, you do not lose an attempt for that lift so you could do 875, 950, 1000,1010,1020 1030, untill they miss a weight over 1000.
Or someone like thor might try opening at 1000 even miss it, come back at 1005 make it then have two more lifts. Frankly I hate seeing a deadlift contest decided purely on mind games and the biggest pull is like 20-40 kilos less than what you know some of them can do. This will help push the totals up for some people, at the cost that 1000 lbs lift is super taxing, so exhaustion of the athletes should prevent this rule from being abused. And you don't need use all your attempts.
I think this is a rule change particularly suited to strongman because its about "finding the strongest" and putting on a show and this does both.
Thoughts and concerns about the stones.
For the stone lift I think it would be important to have the stone run go past the current world record Stone out to something over 700lbs, because when Tom did 629lbs it didn't look like a huge struggle, and when you personally did 629lbs a long time ago in training felt you could have even done more that day. So I think something like 600, 640-650, 680-710lbs. Would be a great addition to the run of stones.
But I know it's hard to get the stones exactly the same weight and it's hard to get them so big and it's hard to get them to be fair (ie one isn't just magically the perfect amount of rough out out of round to make it just the little bit needed to make it doable while the other isn't.) And it's also hard to get them ready enough to be in a contest. So, in lieu I propose that for those looking to do the final stone, they must start at that the 3rd heaviest stone doing the final 3 in order. That way people like tom trey and thor ( if he was at peak thor shape) won't just be racing to see who can do the fastest speed rep of one stone.
Brian, I have to know, and the fans want to know, could you lift the 600lb stone at your peak strength and could you lift it now? Thank you for answering if you happen to see this.

Hands down the BEST fan experience of any strongman show. I went last year and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! My only complaint was having to choose between watching the open show and watching the different speakers at the expo (but I understand the time constraints). If you're on the fence about going, quit thinking about it AND GOOOOOOO!!! You won't be disappointed!

We as fans need to make this the PREMIERE strength event. Giants Live and Arnold don't carry a name in strength as SHAW does. May not be my favorite strongman of all time, but this event needs to be the pinnacle considering you have a living strength legend that it's named after it.

Please please put the max deadlift with a stiff bar instead of a deadlift bar. I would love to see what could be pulled on an IPF competition set up. Strapless would be even better and no hitch but only one could dream.

To my knowledge many of the old time strongman lifts have yet to be replicated including Arthur Saxon's 448 lb 2 Hand Anyhow and Herman Goerner's 664 lb 1 hand deadlift.
It would be great to see some of those lifts be bested in a competition.

Events sound just great. Wish i was still lifting. I did a 15" dead of 1064 lbs at 39 years old and 220. Raw and clean. Pic was in International Muscle Magazine.
I love all the events except the dumbbell medley as I see that as more of a technical event not a strength event.
However cannot wait to see the competition
Without seeing any sensor numbers I would have to assume that the air is being flattened out causing less turbulence which would allow for a cooler air flow/more air and with the combo of that and a large surface area(ambient air) to smaller area (carb) to larger it causes a more efficient Venturi effect. With that also going from a smaller volume (carb) to larger (intake) you get a natural cooling similar to old aircraft cooling systems that I work on. Again hard to tell without any numbers.

Two overheads is a weird choice, but definitely an improvement on last year's events. Glad that the gym lifts have been removed - the leg press and chest press were kind of gimmicky and the leg press should have always been a squat. The deadlift is something we need, so I hope the Shaw Classic team makes sure to invite the right people even if they don't have the biggest following (Matt Ragg and Rauno please!). Biggest disappointment is the lack of a pro women's show - with how great the pro women were at the Arnold's and Giants Live last year, the Shaw Classic and Rogue Invitational definitely need to be catching up in that department.
Lets be real. He did two overhead events because he wants Thor there and he probably wouldn't go if he had a chest press event
