15 years straight you got into the finals and worst place is 7th with 4 times being the champion. That's a career any man would dream of. Congratulations on ALL of your accomplishments big guy.
After reading that, I think what’s most impressive is the fact that he’s never had to pull out due to injury.
Well said!
We love you champ. Thank you for the years of entertainment and endless motivation. Can’t wait to see how far the Shaw classic goes and see how you continue to evolve and contribute to the sport. Thank you, Brian. You are a champ in every sense of the word.

@@_____________3500what kind of brainless comment is this
@_____________ pretty much every Brian fan, and if not at least me. Everything he said i agree with and he can speak for me on this occasion.

@_____________ yo mama
Brian, you spent 5/6 hours each day over 2 days to meet the fans. That's a true champion. Amazing.🏋♂️👏
I was one of them, too. I would have waited All Day for the chance to meet Brian.
If I had known he was going to go over I would have spent more time talking to him. I was first in line at the meet and greet and when I saw how many people were behind me and the 3 hour schedule, I decided to move it along...Only to find out other people took more time with him 😅.
Still glad I got to meet him and I really respect him for taking the extra time.
@Lane I was too tongue-tied to talk long with Brian at the meet and greet. But I did ask for a picture with him And Keri. I'm going to get it blown up and have them sign it at the Shaw Classic in August.
@@southwestgal7 That's really cool! I asked him to sign my shirt right on the middle of the front, directly under the WSM logo. I look goofy in the picture I got because I was trying to talk during it.
I didn't exactly get tongue tied myself, I just felt like they were really trying to keep things moving so I condensed what I had planned to say into an abridged version 😅.
I was actually very surprised and happy with how I was able to communicate with them all. When I met Nick I started to feel a bit choked up but was able to reign it back in and say exactly what I wanted to. That was informal so I had plenty of time.
@Lane That's great. I, however, rehearsed what I wanted to say & totally messed up. I did tell him I drove 15 hours to watch him compete in WSM.
I couldn't see anything. Not one event. There were So many people there. WSM totally mishandled the setup. People were standing on ladders, chairs, coolers, etc...
But I did meet Brian. That's the important thing.
You have nothing to be ashamed of. You conducted yourself as a consummate champion. I’m not going to lie, I had to fight back my tears. You have been a pleasure to watch competing and have always been a professional ambassador for the sport. I pray that God continue to bless you and your family as you transition into your next season of life. 💪🏼 Much love.
Brian Shaw is and will always be among the greatest of all strongmen. 1, because he has competed at the highest level of the sport and produced results at a an epic level for so many years. 2, he's the greatest of all advocates for his sport. He remains committed to the advancement and credibility of the strongman discipline and will continue to provide the highest quality competitive opportunities for his peers and the next generation of athletes. Looking forward to all your next endeavors Brian.
Brian and Z are very close in terms of skill. Maybe I’d give the edge from the competition side of things to Z, but Brian is the greatest in my opinion. Brian pushed the sport so much farther forward and we’ll likely never see anything like it ever again
@@tylergash3175 No offence to Z, but the level of competition during Brian's era is much higher. I consider them both equally the greatest.
@@lolmouf I don’t necessarily disagree with you, I think Brian was in the hardest era of strongman after Z retired. But he also didn’t win in those latter years because of age and the quality of the sport growing. Z just has way more titles and records. I’d consider him the most decorated, especially with 8 Arnold’s, 2 IFSAs, and a Fortissimus title to his name. If 2010s Brian competed more in that era, he probably would’ve taken some of those from Z.
I also think Brian’s mindset was different. Z would oftentimes go for records, Brian often wouldn’t. Really comes to personal preference. If Brian focused on the deadlift WR, he could’ve taken it. He could’ve even potentially had a much higher log than he had if he focused on it.
Bottom line, you could flip either or for the GOAT of strongman. Brian’s always 1 in my book, not just because of his success, but for being an ambassador for the sport on top of that. Z is 2, but I feel as if Z was slightly more consistent over a longer period of time. He was 2nd many more times at WSM, and I think would’ve had somewhere around 8-9 WSM titles if Marius and Brian didn’t exist. If Z didn’t exist, Brian would’ve had 6. Hard to compare, but both were insane
@@tylergash3175I’d agree with alot you said besides big Z focused on records that was never his focus just like Shaw both only ever did records in competition neither did just one of lifts
@@lonestar2495 I think there was 1 or 2 exhibition events that Z did attempt world records exclusively, although I’m not 100% sure off the top of my head. Z was just always prepared to break a record if there was a max event in the competition, especially in his earlier days in the mid to late 2000s. Sometimes in comps after Z won a log event, he’d take an extra lift to go for the record, which Brian would never do. They both chased titles, Z just happened to have more WRs and WR attempts.
I used to get emotionally worn out when you didn’t win these past couple of years but this year, I’m at peace. You won life. A beautiful family, GOATED career, and a legacy to carry on with the Shaw classic. You da man Brian!
Lol YOU got emotionally worn out?
@@robertlevy4613 no I got emotionally torn clout
I did, too. I only watched Strongman if Brian was competing. I would be so emotionally drained if Brian didn't make the podium. I was at Myrtle Beach. Just to meet Brian & Keri was an emotional high😅. Love Bri💓n.

Dude that is awesome! Great to hear the inspiring stories
You are amazing Brian. You have brought more to the sport of Strongman than you know. I had the honor of meeting your amazing wife at the contest and your lovely children. You have the greatest support of a family that loves you. Really an honor and pleasure seeing you compete and meeting your family. Much love from Minnesota!
As a fellow 41 year old I totally agree on recovery, takes a lot longer these days to bounce back!
Congrats on a tremendous career Brian.
I just turned 40 and am having similar thoughts about my most recent workout that was really off. I chalked it off to poor sleep, not eating enough, being under recovered, over training.....I'm still in denial about the fact that I'm just getting older!
@@jzen1455 I'm 43 and pushing some of my heaviest weights. Yeah training and nutrition become harder and different when you're older, but age is just a number.
@@jd9119 I'm the strongest I've ever been as well. I started bodybuilding bro splits more off than on since 22 and hit a plateau early. It was until I started powerlifting at 32 that my strength skyrocketed.
@@jd9119 I had a lot more time in my early to mid 20s, weight trained 6 days a week. Full time job, 5 kids, and also some old injuries have put me behind my old days, which I’m ok with. I also do a lot of running and cycling now (doing a triathlon this year), so I’ve also got a very different body than when I was younger and I focused on nothing but power.
Still… I just hate getting hurt now because it’s a longer recovery every time.
I'm 48. I went all-in on supplements, and I found taking epimedium, tribulous, and ashwaganda increased my energy and testosterone levels significantly. Also b-12 gave a noticeable increase in energy. I take a lot of glucosomine/chondroitin along with calcium/magnesium/zinc tablets. 2 or 3 times the recommended daily allowance. Fish oil too. I don't have arthritis in my lower back anymore. I think cutting out all dairy helped with that. I also got serious about eliminating the estrogenic food products that are in almost everything now, like soy and whey. I'm not at personal best in terms of weight lifting, but I am pretty close. I hope to be back up there before the end of the year. I am 20 pounds leaner than when I was then. I think mainly though it's in the mind. I keep reminding myself there are things science can't explain. I also tell myself I'm getting stronger not weaker, younger not older etc. So far so good.
Brian said he would like to contribute to the sport even after retiring. His analysis and guidance around the prep, ordering of events, and especially the officiating are all invaluable. Humble, Honest, Hardest Working guy who never makes excuses. Making time for people is huge. What more can you ask for a great champion and one of the GOATs.
A true competitor never really retires. I'm glad that even through your disappointment, you were able to soak up that moment with the fans and your family!
Brian is really the Schwarzenegger of strongman, in that, like Arnold, he brought a ton of new eyes to the sport and has worked tirelessly to improve it and leave it better than when he came in. I'm sure that will only continue in his post competition days. Thank you, Brian ❤️
So much so that both Brian and Schwarzenegger hosts their own strongman events
Shaws wife read this comment and now is setting up cameras to monitor the housekeeper
Well said!
Maybe edit your comment with a different name lol didn't you see the video where Brian took down arnie's picture on his wall because of his anti-freedom rhetoric? Brian is a freedom loving American, Arnold is not.
@@jackreacher2095 Lol
Brian, regardless of where you placed you are the picture of this sport. Youve carried this sport for the last 15+yrs and strongman has become more popular because of it. You're still the goat in my mind! You and Eddie were the reason i started lifting again and doing strongman workouts. Your legacy will carry on forever! Be great, we love you Brian!
Thats what I am saying.
Brian, you will forever be remembered not only for your performance in the sport but also for everything you've done FOR it, the countless hours you've spent signing autographs and taking pictures to helping the new "kids" at the WSM to setting up your own world class comp. that rivals the biggest competitions going. You're a true legend that will be in the history books and I hope you truly understand the love you have from this community! All the best to you and the family
One of the best athletes ever and a true gentleman, thanks for the motivation and entertainment over the years Brian.
You're an inspiration to us all Brian. You had an awesome career and a great person with much more to come. Enjoy everything you do, congrats on everything from your northern neighbor.
you're the goat of wsm , will always be remembered as a legend...dedication for this many years! ❤
Honestly brother, the comeback you made from the way your leg looked to still competing in WSM23 was unbelievable... Truly inspiring
Brian I started watching strongman at 12 I’m now 29! Seeing you represent USA and always teach guidance and respect has helped mold me into a better man. Thank you for everything you do!
My bmi was 55 in January, and watching you and Eddie gives me the motivation to lift and diet. I've lost 70 lbs of fat and put on good muscle since Jan 9th. Putting in the work! Thanks for the motivation! Colorado love
Dude that is awesome!
Update: I got an incarcerated hernia and had to go in for emergency surgery... they removed part of my small intestine that had died while twisted inside my hernia. I'm really bummed about the whole thing. I can't do anything for 6 weeks.. I'm trying to keep my sanity.
@@senate2042 if a man is unable to work his body, then he must work his mind
With all the bad influences in the world directed at our children you are a breath of fresh air and an incredible role model. Your ability to be as humble as you were in this video shows real character.
Couldn't agree with you more!!!
Brian Shaw for Marvels Kingpin!
Ive been watching worlds strongest man all my life and grew up watching pudz dominate. I think Brian was winning during the most challenging years. The sport has evolved so much and Brian was beating Big Z, Thor, and eddie during his peak. Hes the best. He doesn't have the most titles but thats not always an indicator of the best.
Ill mention I am bias. I grew up in fort lupton, Co and watched Brian pulling fire trucks as a teen at the local fire dpt and ive met him multiple times. I still think hes the best and its been a great part of my life watching him do so well. Thank you Brian Shaw
I'm almost 50 and one of my drill sgts told me 30yrs ago..the greatest example we can give,is that of our own..your is nothing less than flawless and inspiring Brian..your an amazing husband, father, businessman and champion..youve done it all.
Just watched WSM 2009 with a very young Brian. You were an absolutely amazing athlete then and just kept improving every year. Total legend. 💜👏💯
The video is a case study in grace and being a champion! What happened,...I made this mistake, and didn't perform here, and the stones at my age were death. Class, dignity, no excuses. Once again reminding me why I root so hard for you! Not as a Strong Man, as a MAN! Thank you for all the amazing moments and all the amazing moments yet to come.
Brian, I don't know how you feel, also, I'm just a random person on the internet. However I will say this: You have nothing to be ashamed of on your performance. Yes you could have done better and you have done better in the past. Doesn't matter, you showed up, gave your best performance that you could at that very moment and you should be absolutely proud. You have achieved so much in this sport, plenty of huge records, huge performances and also the promotion of the sport. That cannot be overlooked. You have been an absolute monster of an athlete. Truly the greatest ever to grace the sport. You still went out on a high note (yes, not winning the event isn't a failure) and you showed still that you're a strong athlete and hell of a competitor.
So in conclusion, all I really want to say is: Thank you, Brian! For every motivation, for every epic moment in the sport and for every fun mood lifting moment from your videos. I sadly haven't had the pleasure to meet you, hope I will at some day, however, I don't feel like seeking you out on competitions or events would be the right thing. Maybe you appreciate it, maybe you don't, it's difficult to know. However, if this at all means something to you then know you've been a huge role model, not only for working out but in life generally. Thank you again.
Brian is such a humble, tough, and respectable human being. Anyone with half a brain cell knows his leg 100% negatively affected his performance, but he's 1. Not the type of person to ever make excuses and 2. Doesn't want to take away from anyone else's success. Maybe Thor could take some tips...
Couldn't have said this better myself. Thought the same exact thing.
Maybe YOU could take some tips.
@@Lethaloranges I definitely can, we all can.

As an athlete I know how frustrating and almost heartbreaking it is to have done the work and then compete and little things trip you up here and there and you don't perform at the level you know you're capable of. It's a hard way to end a successful career. Maybe you need to do one more? It's really tough. I know it's not the note you wanted to end on but regardless you are still regarded as one of the very top guys.
