You should look up why Smith machines can make you stronger on your barbell lifts.
Both body builders and strong men use them.

@BidenEpstein2020 true and because you don't engage the stabilisers you're able to push more weight making you stronger, in the long run, on you're barbell lifts? Something like that any way. I used to read a lot of books and magazines, but it was quite a while back.

Well, in the defense of Robert and Brian, conventional Strongman competitions require them to be strong in low rep-heavy lift competitions.
Even in rep-off competitions, the reps rarely go past 12 reps.
Eddie is the youngest out of all of them too

43 reps is insane, thats got to be some of the best muscle endurance of any strongman alive today.

Eddie didn’t even go down all the way. The others went past a 90 degree angle whereas Eddie barely even got there.
Gautham Velupally he got basically 20 more reps that everyone else, no debate that he’s got the strongest shoulders still
@@vvvss-cx1vd Eddie is still stupid strong, but I don't think he'd be able to do 40+ reps in his prime. Losing those 100lb will hurt his static strength, but for reps at a "lower" weight it will help him pump that blood. It doesn't say very much about who got the strongest shoulders (I'm pretty sure it's Oberst right now).
Kroshnix fair enough, in his prime though his static strength overall was likely top 2 of all time and his shoulders were probably his best lift aside from deadlift which really puts it into perspective
Yes well think this. Eddie retired at his strongman prime because he wanted to do other things besides strongman. Eddie had/still has the power to challenge for first place finishes. I'm sure if he would've kept it up he could of had another 2 or 3 titles in him.

I met Nick Best when I was a little kid because he used to work at the same company my parents worked at which was Wirtz Beverage in Las Vegas. I remember me and my brother shaking his hand and then saying to each other how giant his hands were. Me and brother have always admired Nick.

Not just strength, his endurance is through the roof for what he is, a strongman. Most bodybuilders who are known for hypertrophy-specific training are not going to hit similar repetitions on a respectable % of their 1RM like Eddie does.
That's what happens when you're so strong that the dumbbells aren't heavy enough for you. You end up doing high reps to get a decent workout in@@Lars16

I had something like this happen at my gym, my 'strong' friend is going for his 225 bench reps and this world class strongman shows up, without a spotter or clips, and proceeds to do 555 lbs for 10 very casually and leaves..

It takes a LONG time to get as big and strong as him. He probably doesn't know how to live without training that hard
