- The World's strongest men attend the world famous Braemar Gathering Highland Games site in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, for a Tug o' War challenge against a local team.
The strongest men were Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, Nick Best and Robert Oberst, who took on a Tug of war team from the Braemar and Invercauld Estate area of Aberdeenshire. The idea was to see how many it would take to compete against them for weight and strength. The Braemar Gathering is the only games attended by the Royal Family each year, with Balmoral Estate within the local Deeside area or Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Audience: They’re probably having a super serious strongman conversation
Strongmen: Seeing whose hand is bigger.

The fact that it took 7 professionals(?) to out-tug 4 strongmen with little to no strategy is insane and a testament to just how massive they all are

It wasn't 7, it was 6. I doubt there are fully professional tug a war teams as it's not a very spectator friendly sport.
@@RaniaIsAwesome Nope! Professional Tug of War (TOW) teams exist and it's recognized by multiple countries as a sport

Who is the strongest among them?
@@urbanproductions5584 cant really answer that because they all are record holders in different types of lifts
@@tackleberry9386 Yes, but Brian Shaw (the anchor) is the overall strongest based on his combined lifts and strongman competitions won.
If the big bois had synchronised technique it would take 10 to beat them.
And excellent cleats cause they didn't have enough traction. There combined strength is still way more than the entire team at the end.

Devon Larrat? Ah a man of culture I see.
you have to remember these big guys pull buses planes and articulated lorry's 7 days a week twice on a sunday!
Aye, they are POWERFUL and incredibly strong, with a lot of learned technique.
A bit of an exaggeration, perhaps?
What are bus planes?
That is true, pulling buses, planes, etc is something you'll end up doing at their level of strongman ability, but they're certainly not practicing that every day, it's not like people just have spare planes to practice with at home lol
Soriki Brian Shaw actually does have access to some pulling material. Look it up. He has something going on with his local fire department where they’ll let him practice with their trucks every so often if I’m not mistaken. Regular people play with toy trucks. Brian Shaw plays with full-sized versions. The guy is on another level.
The power in unity we are forced to forget in these modern times ✌🏻
Fresh pulls with just one match could have resulted different (8 vs 4 ) because big guys are bio mechanically strong for one blast🙏😎🔥👍

Matches their personality exactly.
Brian: Full of strategy and grinding those teeth
Rob: Giggles in excitement

More feet= more traction
Exactly.
They probably have the leg power of 3 people each. But all that power still has to go through two feet. There reaches a point when there's too much power, not enough grip.
brian was wearing jordans lol
This is kinda true but you’re forgetting that brian’s shoes are probably as big as 4 normal shoes
Looking at how the little guys set up too they tucked the rope under their armpit and were leaning further into it, Brian and the guys were using more arm strength and looked more upright.
How much weight is on those feet is another factor to consider though. If you have two people and one of them is 200 lbs and the other one is 400 lbs, the guy who has 400 lbs weighing down on his two feet has way more traction than the guy who only has 200 lbs weighing down on his feet.
Would have been amazing to see this with proper boots etc. The strong men would make one insane team with all the right gear and some skills.
I think some boots with grip and a whiff of smelling salts would have taken the team of 8 easy
I love how all 4 of them still hangout till this day
Watching Brian slide across the ground was hilarious.

The first one was the best when they went against just three of the challengers. If you watch Brian Shaw he was barely holding the rope and just walking backwards very very slow... they probably made Nick do all the work on the first one LOL
Eddie hurt his hand with the Dinnie stones. No way he was pulling very hard.
Robert was also laughing.
He did turn cherry red immediately
Yes only Nick seem to be tired lol
@@sigmajoey5230 haha yeah for sure. The three of them probably told themselves let’s pretend we’re pulling. They know Nick would take it very serious.😂 Nick is awesome though.

@@khonyeleaglefergumedov9175 Man, it's tug of war. not fighting.. If it's a fight yeah, you are right.
in tug o war its all about the weight of the team. The 4 strongmen outweighed 8 of the TOW team yet 4 vs 6 the result was almost even , 4 vs 7 TOW team won easily. The TOW team could still add 1 more person to make the combined weights almost even. These guys are pretty much too big for TOW

Poop face hahaha
They had good technique. The bottom line is, you can't put 400lbs of weight into the souls of 2 shoes on grass. It's just a traction battle more so than a strength competition. Like having a 3000hp car on street tires. You can't even use 1/3 of the hp because of the lack of traction.
Very true, the same thing was true for the strongest recorded horse, who pulled 50 tons, but was only able to do that with shoes designed to provide the best possible traction on that specific surface.
I don't think traction is the problem here. They simply failed on the technique side. Traction force is determined by the mass, gravitational constant and traction coefficient. They obviously have the mass, and both sides have the same traction coefficient (rubber:dirt). If these strongmen were just properly synchronized, they would have won.
@@gundorstoneskin5900 that's because of the traction coefficient
@@G3LOFY Their mass does not improve their traction proportionally to their relative strengths. Every man on that rope on both sides had more strength left unused. So as you saw the weight helped a bit because it became 6 vs 4. So we can give a rough traction advantage because of their additional weight of about 3/2. It's still not enough to hit their actual physical strength potential.
@daddyrichten If a tree did compete and the tree had arms and hands and a brain to control them, a circulatory system, cardiovascular system, nerves etc and they happened to hold the match exactly where that tree had grown, then yes it would be a grip and strength of upper body competition for that tree. Obviously that ridiculous hypothetical just wasted everyone's time. Thanks though I guess?

I don't think I've ever seen Brian get pulled like that. He seemed to have fun with it lol
Guys obviously they are professional, so 7 is damn good against those monsters..
Otherwise it wood take dozens of ordinary men to beat those 4 hulks.
10-12 healthy normal 80kg 180cm men would definitely do the job... The amount of traction on the ground would just be way too high...
I think 9 regular guys could easily beat the 4 of them

These videos make me so happy. Lighthearted competition with a bunch of nice people and nice burly bois :3
Best strongmen squad in the world
Good sportsmanship at the end.
Now they need to put these 4 against an NFL offensive line or a defensive line!!!
Would be fun to see, and might help continue to bring strongman into mainstream sports spotlight. They would still out-weigh even the heaviest players by over 100lbs (except for nick) so picking events could make or break it.
curry2spicy4u Trent brown of the raiders is near 400lb. I think he is at 385lb about so he would only be lighter than brain I think. There are definitely some outliers in the NFL who are very large but also very athletic as you would have to be to play any pro sport at that level
@@thehamburgler3570 didn't they use to do one on one tug of war as one of the events on world strongest man?
Also I think ex pro NFL linemen have competed in world strongest man but they generally don't do well.
Linemen aren't that athletic. If you want athleticism and strength combined either running backs or linebackers are the go to positions .
I think it would a disadvantage for them to to go against defensive lineman. Pro defensive lineman not only have power but they have to have speed. I think the speed would beat them. Even offensive lineman need to have quick foot work. But it would be a better matchup.
Steven Meatsandwich it would be fun to watch. There’s a lot of skill involved for NFL players. It’s not a tug of war.
Such lovely men! Gracious as well as strong! Whats not to love !!🥰🤩
This is impressive on both sides... The strong main have train to gain so much strenght, that it would take many men to beat them, yet with proper technique it took 7 way weaker man to do it. At the same time its crazy that by brute force they pushed it up to that point. Crazy on both sides!
But Tug-a-war needs more than just RAW strength to win you know!
(Watch THE SQUID GAME)
@@dieselblaze6665 Yes this was common knowledge way before the show. Thats why I said its impressive on both sides.
@@MisaelMatute76 then why didn't the men that were not as strong rely on numbers to win the day instead of trying those techniques the winning team did in THE SQUID GAME?
@@dieselblaze6665 You must be blind. They didnt rely on numbers, they are professionals at tug o war. Look at how they are align, at the start they all pull at the same time using their body as weight. But the other guys were just so strong that they overwhelmed them and pulled them in anyway.
@@MisaelMatute76 but if the small guys would have just taken 3 steps forward like the players in the SQUID GAME then the BIG GUYS would have fallen back and lost their footing which would have given the small guys a fighting chance to win the day!

so what was the total mass of both teams? I didn't get it from video ...
In a past life in around 1600 I was an English speaking knight working in Scotland. I had a very strong body like the strongmen in this video. I used to wear skirt like garment similar to those men wore. I died falling off a wooden bridge with horse while riding horse at the age of 23 between 1601 and 1609.
