      of the things you mentioned in this video, can you break down the average time spent on each?
      EXAMPLE:
      40 hour work week()
      {
      meetings = 10;
      bugs = 5;
      new code = 10;
      customer concerns = 5;
      getting paid to play = 5;
      waiting on updates/compiling = 5;
      }

      Hi Andy! You always come up with great insightful content. I just started my career a software developer, hence I would request you to post some videos on how a software developer's mindset should be when he is hitting some kind of roadblocks on problem solving, or solutioning of code , for example I have an initial tendency to think that solutioning is not even possible(which gets me really stressed out at times) when I am presented with a really tough problem, but as I dive deep into it, I somehow manage to make ends meet. Would really like to understand from you how a software developer's mindset should be when approaching a problem! Hope you get time to read my comment ! Cheers!

      I don't think there is something like that. There is too much to learn and many directions to go. And many things can only be understood once you have sufficient experience. For example there are coding patterns, but they won't be of much use to you if you don't know when to apply them and when not to. Just start to code and try to learn about such topics at some point.
      For example I never have done anything with these searching algorithms. Most are already implemented in the language anyway (like C#)! I for one work more with file systems and 3D (Unity). And at this company I started with a very low knowledge about file systems, but I grew into it.

I thought that software devs do softwares for companies, like a software for an accounting company to make it quick and efficient the work inside that company, or softwares like photoshop, illustrator etc...

    For communication, can you also communicate to your boss just in case you're having trouble with your project as well or will your boss get mad at you?? Because it depends on how well you understand what you're doing with the project, it depends on how nice the person is to help you (because some bosses or people won't even help you, or they will help and if you still don't understand something after an x amount of times then they'll be really mean to you and fire you), and I guess it also depends on if you're working with the right company or the right groups of people because like I said not every person in the world is going to be your best friend and because of that, they might be mean enough to both get you in trouble and get you fired.

    I'm currently looking for a new career after being unable to carry on with my current one due to multiple slipped discs. I don't drive, so working remotely is essential, and I've always loved working with computers, so something like software engineering seems like a career I wouldn't mind pursuing. I have enough saved to cover my wages for 3 years, and was looking at doing some form of online degree, but unsure what exactly I would need to study, or how easy it would be to then find a job after completing my degree, as nearly everything seems to ask for previous experience in the role. If you, or anyone in the comments could give me some advice, it would be hugely appreciated. It's a huge step for me, and I want to make sure I have an understanding of what I'm doing before using my savings and throwing myself in to it.

    I'm pretty sure I want to get into this field. I'm oddly terrified this field will die out in the future. Am I wrong? Will this field be in demand for a long time?

    I wanna switch my major to software development but I don’t know if I’ll actually like it and I wanna be able to mod games, fix bugs, and be able to know computer language. I would I be able to do all that stuff with software development?

    What happens when you can't fix a bug or need help with creating a new feature?

    It's interesting how my work place software development process differs when it comes to responsibility of work.
    When we have features that need to get worked on, it first goes through architects, and then BAs breaking down into smaller user stories and then each of the stories get picked up by developers. After they are done each goes through testing by QE.
    I guess I see it as the building blocks are set up for the developers to then go and do their job.
    Is this just due to different methodologies ?
    Edit: I'm not saying developers don't do what you have mentioned when working on features, just that it sounds like more is provided to then as a base understanding and direction.
