One of the most basic things we learn in psychology is the fundamental attribution error, and it's for precisely this reason. Humans will see, hear, or otherwise experience another person in one way and then assume that their actions in one circumstance were due exclusively to their normal personality, when this is never the case. Being unaware of the assumptions you make about people you meet for the first time can lead to a lot of social issues, which is why everyone learns about it, so we don't make the mistake ourselves 😊.
Im glad you made this video. It's something that really needs to be understood. It's amazing to me that someone who doesn't necessarily communicate in the same way most of us do can explain and get a message out so well. In fact, I think deaf people (and people with other challenges like being blind, etc.) can do a better job at showing other people things about life because the way they experience it is different from that of other humans. You can show us a different angle in any situation, and that will almost always enlighten us.

Rejection is very painful and some people have a hard time dealing with that. The fact that he insulted you is probably due to the fact that he had feelings for you, but once they were crushed he instantly turned to anger and resentment, to mask his pain. He probably thought something like:" If you make me feel bad about myslef, I am going to make you feel bad about yourself." People don't want others to see that they are vulnerable so sometimes they overreact while trying to defend themselves.
It saddens me that so many comments focus on what you look like when your mind is so wonderful! This was so inspiring and empowering :) I really enjoy watching your videos, thank you for covering such a variety of topics, I really want to understand more about Deaf culture

The most important quality to me in a person is for them to be genuine. If your genuine, you are automatically a friend in my book. And you are super genuine and i love it. As far as the guy goes, he probably was mad cuz you didn't wanna date him. He honestly handled it terribly. If a girl makes it clear to me that she's not interested in getting closer im still gonna stick around because their personality is why i chose to talk to them in the first place.

Hi, I know very little about sign language and this is a genuinely curious question: when you move your mouth while signing, is it part of the signs you are making or is it just a subconscious action that comes naturally while communicating in sign language?

For some signs, it’s an important part of the sign :) For example, the sign for NOT YET requires a specific mouth movement. (If you instead mouth the English word “not yet” while you sign it, you’re actually signing it incorrectly.)

Kasper Steenfeldt Yeah, they’re used to help communicate emphasis and tone, and some signs require specific mouth movements :) for example, if you look up the sign NOT YET on Lifeprint, you can see it has a specific mouth movement associated with it.
