Yeah this team deserves going from back to back champions RD 16 exit we got completely played by vlatko everyone says he’s a defensive coach but we lost 3-0 in the Olympics under him… that’s fucked up

I have to say I'm falling in love with Emma Hayes as our coach. I never watch coach press conferences, but I cannot help but watch her talk about her team and herself. She does not shy away from hard questions, and she exudes a confidence and an empathy which is a hard combination to find in a manager. I cannot wait to see where she takes this team

So much respect for Emma! Love this roster and the approach so far. Also really appreciate her comments and handling of Korbin situation. Emma holds people accountable and also gives them grace and guidance to grow instead of bullying and vilifying them. She obviously sees Korbin as a good human being-and she knows her and the situation better than anyone on the outside looking in. Her support and guidance of a player in really difficult circumstances says a lot. I have a lot of respect for Emma’s approach.

I literally cheered when she said her goal is to give the young inexperienced players more opportunities. I think this is why our team has had so much trouble transitioning with all the experienced players leaving. All the new players are incredible but they’re not properly equipped to handle those big pressure moments yet. Although I’m feeling really good about these Olympics. Can’t wait for them to prove themselves

Wow let's just take a moment to just appreciate how awesome it is to have Emma as the head coach of the USWNT just a great hire. As for Alex Morgan apart from her not being a versatile player she just hasn't been in form plain and simple. As we all appreciate the old guards it's time to move on from them and that's one of the reasons we didn't do well in the Vlatko era coz he relied on them too much and like Emma said didn't develop the younger players enough. Soon it's gona be players like Alyssa Naeher/Dunn/Sonnet coz right now there are younger players that are playing lights out in the NWSL that definitely need to be brought in to be looked at. But this is a great start.
Idk why people think this is a bad roster?? 1st alex Morgan is 35 n hasn't been good not even with san Diego!! She's slower n not as quick!! She can only pick 18!! She knows this sport better than any of u!! If u were good at it you'd all be coaches here!!
Roster is brilliant. Young and talented, athletic, technically gifted, best current starters at every position (on form or rounding into form), frightening attack, also good team chemistry with max flexibility.
@@glarris1 The players who Emma Hayes thinks will be best suited to execute her tactical plans. I think the main thing she's gone with in this roster is versatility, players able to cover more than one position, creating flexible in game options. As she says in this press conference, the tournament has quick turnover of games, this roster has been chosen with that in mind.

Love this roster and new head coach already, along with Twila. Young, experienced, lethal attack, versatility in the midfield and defensive depth as well. Happy for Korbin, facing adversity and working her ass off so she earned it. And correct decision on Alex Morgan, she’s not in form, flopped the last 3 major tournaments and doesn’t fit with this generation. However, will miss her and congrats on a great career!!!
Alex Morgan is a legend and deserves a lot of love and respect. But not a spot on this roster because this is 2024, not 2012 and other players are simply better than her.

People who keep asking why they left out Alex Morgan and why they kept Korbin. Did you not see the last Women's World Cup? Do you want to see the same exact play and players??? Emma is an amazing coach, she wants to put the best players out there that are willing to accept her game plan and not go back to that last World Cup that the USA failed completely.
If you know a lot about soccer, you know there was never a decision between Korbin and Alex. They play completely different positions. Also, what exactly did Korbin Albert do in the 11 caps she played for the USWNT. Zero goals, zero assists is the answer. Lily Yohannes played 20 min of 1 cap and scored 1 goal as a comparison. My guess if Yohannes would have been ready to commit, Albert would not be on the roster...both midfielders.

I will take Morgan as a disposable fuse, we will move from group phase easily then probably win one more game before we face a superior team (Spain, France, Germany) if we fail we could say "Morgan era is over" and I'm sure she will have no problem taking that role. Now if we fail what happen to Mallory, Trinity and Sophia? They will be under the immense pressure of being the face of failure

The roster looks good. Some fresh eyes on the fields and sidelines. Lets see what they can do. As far as Prancer aka Morgan.....well she hadn't shown much even in the NWSL lately. No biggie. I was shocked to see Campbell as an alternate. She has been playing well in goal. In my opinion Naeher has been off btw the posts. This squad has some potential.
Thanks Coach Emma. I like your selection. AM13 has served her country in a great way. I am a great fan of the USNWT and AM13. I would have loved AM13 to had followed the path of the great Abby Wambach. She retired at the right moment. Lately let's be honest, AM13 is no longer the speed merchant who could score before defender can even know it. I think that Malory is ready to play as a striker. All will be well. Go USA!!!

Picking a roster for the Olympics is dicy business. It's the same in all the team sports: The roster you're allowed is much smaller than is typically allowed in championships. (And fewer teams participate). Not sure why, maybe they're trying to keep the number of athletes in the Olympic village under control? But this puts extra strain on the team of course, but it also forces the coach to consider different aspects. As Emma says, she has favored players who can play in more than one position.

The old days of the woman's national team are over you cant let the players run the team anymore it hasn't worked in a long time. I love Alex but she is not better than those young players like Shaw, Swanson, Rodman and Smith. Im so proud of Emma to make the logical decision Alex is just not good enough at this point of her career. Putting that Korbin girl on the team was another brave move by Emma she is quickly finding out the politics of this country.

my opinion doesnt really matter, but, im not the biggest Emma fan. ive watched her in the WSL for a few seasons and of course shes a talented coach, but there are things that rub me the wrong way. i didnt want Emma as US coach. ive gained some respect for her today. she made a couple of really hard decisions, but she made them, with conviction. gl to the team, and Emma. will be rooting for them all.

Smart practical move by Emma. Lynn is an alternate but she is also one of the best pressure forward and transition attacker in the country and will be hell to practice against every day. If one of the starters goes down, you would probably pick Croix as the sub alternate because she is lethal in the box.
It’s great thinking that’s what one of the best forwards in the US. Taking Bethune as another alternate is also a great move one of the best players in the nwsl right now.

Emma, I would like to address the Corbin situation again. It is all well and good that we are moving forward, but when you go into the adult world and say and take adult action, such as hurting other adults , using your believes in a negative way , this becomes an adult responsibility. The fans, the many soccer players who have built woman's soccer to what it is today, and allow Corbin to play and have this amazing experience in the Olympic. We have not heard from Corbin herself, only others explaining . Again if you enter the adult world , the responsibility is to act like an adult, and speak to us, only to understand and close this. Things like this just don't go away, sometimes all it takes is speaking.

I think we do all need to start getting along and compromising. I’m a trans queer woman and play soccer every Monday and Wednesday. I don’t agree with half of my teammates, but we come together to accomplish victory each and every time we step on the pitch. You don’t have to like me, you don’t even have to understand me, your views of me don’t hinder my ability to love my wife or kick a ball. Just my two cents…I’m a little over cancel culture at this point.
Are you letting your own prejudices come through? No offense meant. Emma Hayes is a leader, Korbin Albert is a gifted player, taking her off the team would mean Emma Hayes not doing her job to the best of her ability.
Also, unless you've had the opportunity to talk with Korbin Albert, as Emma Hayes has, you're not in a position to judge the basis of Emma's comments. Recognising the impact the issue has had on Korbin as a player is an insight into what it means to Korbin the person, something to work with.
Either way Emma Hayes takes full responsibility and doesn't dodge the question. At the end of the day the project is about winning.

This is about feeling safe in a space that honors people from different backgrounds.
