  • Sorry for such a long video, guess I just had a lot to cover here. TM made a pretty good step forward here with a very nicely made 1911. The brushed blued steel finish and machine marks really put it up there with Tanaka and WAs special finish guns, even though it's less convincing once you pick it up. Fake wood is also probably the best in the business, and being a TM it shoots very well, the only real drawbacks being the thin magazines (only 26 BBs worth of gas, at best) and rather sluggish recoil/slide return, although these issues are true of most airsoft 1911s, so it can't be blamed on this particular model. Overall, very nice - they are very durable, so Green Gas is recommended. I use Guarder Gas for extra snap/kick, and TM 1911s can handle it fine, so forget the 'TMs can only take 134a/Duster' comments you see, because these will take whatever you put in them. This can make TM 1911s quite powerful pistols, at least for standard TMs - 350 FPS is achievable with Guarder Gas on a warm day, due to the long-ish barrel.

Marui guns if you handle them well will last forever. I got some Marui guns like a manual 1911, AEG M4, had even a 1911 GBB (sold it because I wanted a Glock) and they all lasted more than 6 years of regular use. Internals looked like they have been used a few weeks only. I even bought a few second hand pistols and AEGs which were 8, 10 years old and still performing well. Yes at that age it was nescessary to do a bit of service and repairs to get it back in shape but it did cost almost nothing to do.

For anyone wanting to improve the iron sights, you can use nail polish to highlight a portion of the sights to make "fibre optic" iron sights.

The fingers on the 70's collet bushing, was what made them extremely accurate without hand fitting the barrel to the bushing.

Love your videos! Even when it's a gun I own and there is nothing really new. Wish you had much more chances to expand your collection

Fired one of these a few weeks ago, it does actually look and feel extremely pleasant for a plastic pistol.

That is a series 70 collett bushing with 'spring fingers' . Has nothing to do with the airsoft world. It just means they replicated that as well. They were intended to centre the barrel to the slide and make the 1911 ( the real ones ) more accurate. The only problem with these was that they broke after some use , and possibly jammed up your gun. They were eventually replaced with standard bushings again with the series 80's , which had a firing-pin-safety added , but had a solid bushing again.

Why aren’t they allowed to make metal airsoft pistols in Japan? Someone told me that’s why TM are all plastic. Yet they produce an M4 that’s metal I think? I find the replica machine marks make me smile. Nice touch. Having done metal work myself on a lathe, On steel finishes (whatever the type of object) they try to reduce machine marks, yet on airsoft they try to replicate them. If anything the machine marks on this 1911, especially the barrel would be too course to be considered high end quality work ha.
