What is your number one triathlon training tip? Let us know in the comments below đ
I love the tip in the pool, and the hero day!!
Global Triathlon Network I do 1 round of wim hof breathing exercise before my workouts, it gives me a highly oxygenated blood, I feel less fatigue and have more endurance effort
I sleep in my run clothes and shoes the night before an early morning session. I save myself about 3 min. in the morning, so I am able to get 3 minutes more of sleep.
Yeah awesome vid, I really enjoyed it. And agree with hero day. The jam sandwich idea just sounds like vomit fuel
On weekdays I do 20mins of light strength training & stretching right off the bed when I wake up. It really gets the blood flowing and you feel like a million $ afterwards. It's a nice way to sneak in some exercise everyday of the week and it really adds up in the end. By the way GTN the pool leash tip is genius.
I sleep with a microphone on too...
Mark's face as Lucy is telling about hero day... Like "tell me again, why did I sign for this?"
I think the tether swim may have worked even better if the cord was an elastic or rubber cord. It would give a lot more during your swim and but would still keep you pulled back. Even two cords, one on each foot to make the tension evenly spread. Thanks for the tips!
To add to the endless pool tip, I use a resistance band attached to a belt on my waist. I believe it provides a more balanced swim than a leash to the ankle.
Yep. Me too. Did 95% of my training for Mooloolaba Olympic this way.
tarikaiesec great idea. Did you find the cord would get tangled in your kick? I have done something similar before, and that was the only downside I found
No mate. I was fine.
You can tell Lucy Charles is a swimmer because she enjoys the âhero day,â which is a total over distance swimmer thing to do.
These videos are so well done and full of so much quality content. Thank you so much!!!!
I have to say I love GTN ! You guys are brilliant and have made quarantine so much more bearable. Thank you sooo much for that !! Canât wait to get back in the water.
The swimmingpool trick actually fits equipment I have in my BDSM case đ
this is gold
Wow.. kudos for the amount of runs, miles and work you put in to make this video! Amazing!
Cheers Foreverreign, mark worked hard for this one!
Some good heat training, sauna sessions etc. leading up to a race has always been my go to. Even if it's not s hot race, there are still benefits of doing it. Great video GTN!
Definitely a good tip, lots of the pros do heat acclimatisation work and it pays off on race day!
Good old club LaSanta. Have been there a couple of times now and I just love it especially the new modern area. Great for a training camp. Great video by the way.
Mark suffering is the new Tom Last riding up a ridiculously steep climb! Bring the suffer-o-meter!
(I believe this could be karma for that beer in Kona while Heather was running đđș)
Mark hasn't quite got the Tom Last pain face going in this video though! Do you think we should get Tom Last out on a hero day with Mark?
Global Triathlon Network YES!!! PLEASE!!!
The sound effects during the leg slapping made me spit out my tea!
đ
Triathlon tip, Dramamine the night before to prevent motion sickness in the open water. Imodium also the night before to prevent stomach troubles on race morning.
This is great. Excelent video production. Keep going! Kudos
That surf leash is very usefull in the current 2020 situation I can go to my grandmaâs swimming pool that is 10 meters long and train like itâs a 100m long swimming pool great adviceđ
Loving the videos keep up the great content! This channel has got no into tris training for my first one this year
Glad you enjoyed it! Don't forget to let us know what other training content you would like to see.
The leash idea is awesome!!!!!!! I'm always in a 10m poolon holiday đ
Not great for a hard swim session but you'll be surprised how well it works!
You can see the dissapoinment in marks face when he was interviewing lucy charles.. that face made my day! lol
What a video really... Very informative and so funny! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this vid. Cheers for the awesome content
Thanks Sam! Glad you enjoyed it.
This was a great video!
The wacking your legs thing works really well for skiing though, more about getting your legs warm than getting the blood going.
Amazing vid!
For the 2nd
Hack. Instead of strapping it in your ankle, maybe try TYR's stationary swim belt! Its tailored for the circumstances like travelling alot :)
That slowmo bit at the end there was the most British thing I've seen in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way đ
Maybe the best video so far. Good job.
Thanks Borris!
Great music and that slow motion at 9:38 was hilarious !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I like that the videos arenât just strictly informative
Dayum that is dedication
We need more content with Lucy.
Keep your eyes peeled for more coming tomorrow!
Gabor Lehocky yeahh she's always a motivation..
And Emma and Daniella
Its not a matter of hard slapping, but rough pushing to the muscles.
That leash swim hack was the best tip đ§đđż
Great video, a lot of fun. Keep it up.
Thanks Slim!
I've actually done the eating before runs thing for many years, and it works well for me. Not tried jam sandwiches though!
Great content and decent humour too đ
Nice wide angle lens, I like it
That surf guitar at 7:00 is nice!
I'm new with the Triathlon game and I wanted to ask, can I wear any tight clothing for the cycling section? Is there a specific criteria for the cycling equipment? Thanks
Hopefully goes without saying, but the eating before a run "hack" will be useless if you just try it once. The point is to do it throughout training so that your body gets used to that routine. Might be worth more than 3 stars on race day when you're actually able to stomach your food :)
SeanStephensen yes, I would say that goes without saying đ
Does it actually work ? I have never had any problems on race day but i would love to not having to wait 2-3 hours between a meal and a run anymore. Not that it's the end of the world but it could make my training schedule a bit easier sometimes. Anyway let me know if you've had success with it, i might give it a try.
I'm quite new to triathlon, and haven't even started my specific race (including nutrition) training plan for this summer yet, so take my experience with a grain of salt. But I have casually been eating more before swimming/biking (also during the bike)/running than I have in the past (used to also avoid it for a couple hours) in anticipation of this upcoming training plan/race season. Although the experimentation so far has not been scientific enough to be conclusive, I feel like I have noticed more acceptance of food in my stomach during activity than in the past when it would definitely throw me off.
For sprints or Olympic distance not so much. When you start doing half's and full Ironman's you need to make a bullet prove gut, because you will have to take in mass calories. You should find out what they are serving on the race coarse and get use to running with it this includes the energy drink they serve.
Loved this video!
Glad you enjoyed it, want to see a part 2?
Global Triathlon Network Yes please!
I often easy a bowl of chili before a run. It's something you should train for if you're going to be heading out for any significant amount of time.
Mark is my hero!
Maybe Andy was trolling Mark. :)
Amer J. I think you might be right!!
Add some peanut butter to that sandwich! That is my go to food before a run or bike ride.
Could you do a «heroday» for OD ? What would be the distance ?
OMG, this was HILARIOUS.
Glad you enjoyed it, should we make a part 2?
are you kidding? Go on!
Properly entertaining
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hope the camera man didn't run into the cactus while filming at 4:23
Don't worry, no cameramen were hurt in the making of this video!
I don't think I have to do the bathtub thing here in the US. It's 78°f in the morning here, and 92°f by 4 in the afternoon. If I want to get used to the heat, just run in the afternoon. đđ°đ đ„đ„đ„đ„
I use Horse balm to warm up my legs before a race. It is like Tiger balm but much hotter, so be careful with how much you use. I've used it, bike for 2 hours in winter which was cold, and after that, when I went to the shower, my legs were red and still on fire!
Holy shit, how fast is that car going 10:14 ? đ±
Stay safe out there in the bike!
How is exactly the hero day? Didn't quite get it.
What shoes do you wear during the run
Epic video! It's a shame Mark didn't do the full hero day though :)
Don't worry, we've had suggestions we get Tom Last to join him and do a full hero weekend! What do you think?
I'd actually pay just to watch Lasty do the 'Hero Day' with you guys. Hahaha
GIVE THIS MAN AN OSCAR ALREADY!!
Should we have got him to do the full hero day though?
I would love to see him do that and perhaps...........maybe even join in!
I always eat right before a long workout. I have been doing that for the past 20 years. You get used to it after awhile.
0.35 When old lady staring to mark :D
We think she wanted some of that sandwich đ
Has someone found a good link for the leash? I just find trash
All the honeys doing trips I like it!
Fruitcake is available at checkpoint 4 (Level House) and checkpoint 5 (Gunnerside) on the Swaledale marathon. It worked for me.
Very nice! Did you try racing on fruitcake before the event?
Great video! What's the song at 8:00?
This question was asked a few times but I'll ask too to see if there is traction. What location, where was this filmed? Don't have to give a super specific answer... just state/country or general region of the world. Would love to know!! Thanks!!
Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain)
When training for a race in a hot climate, crank up a heater in the pain cave. Do a few weeks of sessions on the trainer and treadmill.
Someone enjoyed the slapping session....! hahahaha :P
I would like to see MORE fail hacks lol
Watch this space for more coming soon!
I'm an ex short distance swimmer, the hitting thing you do it before racing and you mostly hit not super hard, just so your muscles vibrate and the muscle must be relaxed :P
I started doing a sauna after a hard run about 15 years ago
Hold on there for a moment... doesn't everyone go to the sauna straight after a training session? I had no idea there even was the option of not going. Wow. Sauna is also a good place to massage your legs a bit, maybe even stretch some. And you can go straight to another session (or at least you're hungrier than you would've been after training only) ;)
Where was this episode recorded?
I want to know too!
The hot bath one is my worst nightmare
Location?
I am going to get a leash!
You can use the leach for small swimmingpool, or that: www.decathlon.fr/p/elastique-de-natation-500-ceinture-bleu-vert/_/R-p-170085?mc=8403771&c=BLEU
R.I.P. Mark
7am not early try 4
He reminds me of jake from Brooklyn 99
đ
Global Triathlon Network dude you literally look exactly like himđ great videos thoughđ
(also I love jake so it's a compliment lol)
Do you need jam sandwhiches in a triathlon??
Entertaining video, Mark is a "good sport" for being the "guinea pig". He should have pawned the Andy Potts stuff off on Heather.
What do you think is a good MILE time for a 13 yearold
this guy reminds me of milo yiannopoulos
Eating before a working or race, no no no for me :).
Potts said to NEVER do the slap, why did you test this?
Mark just looks like a child having a tantrum, when he started slapping his thighs đ¶đ»
Well he wasn't happy with Andy Potts at the time!
Great video but until you've gone full hero i'm not sure you can give it a rating
Testing testing before the run, hot bath in such way isn't really going to give some results. It takes time to get results. Eating didn't work for me at the beginning but now I don't mind it at all. Same thing with hero day... It wasn't realistic test. Btw complaining about 7am getting up? Lol at 7am hard core triathletes are at least 1.5 hours in bike ride. :)
Mladen Simovic In the summer* I doubt that most triathletes or any Athlete in general would like to go outside for a workout in the winter đ
He siad the lags slaps didnt work and didnt recommend them so....?
Is no one going to talk about him eating a sandwich off a hotel couch?
I also take a bath in my swimsuit
He just sets his jam sandwich down on the couch? That's where people fart. Plus, that's a good way to get jam on the couch.
Shouldâve had white bread for the sandwich. Way too much fiber in brown bread. Not a good idea the day before an Ironman let alone in the middle of one
Why didnt the leash get 5 stars. Ur starrng is randm just skip it. Give the pros and cons u dont need to give stars
Lol ... you are not Bruno Fratus
Haha...no, but I gave it a good try
Lucy is a babe
Condition ur body by eating KFC before continuous hill sprints
Don't eat Chili before a run, NEVER !!! đ©đđ
Andy is one of the great triathlete but who care about his bloody brilliant ideas!
Better triathlete men are out there with better ideas...
First
Pretty kinky training tip by the Muffin Man.
Mark you need to wear Lederhosen slapping your thighs that much. Fun video but hero day sounds like a brute of a day but I can see the psychological benefits
