The devs of this game has done a major good job on this one. Even added bosses that was aired like 2 times on the classic animated series. That was a surprise even I could not foresee. Many don't even know those characters, but I can confirm that they are not newly added like Tempestra and.. was it Dirtbag? Rat king, i think people remember. I have not played the game. But I would love to try it :) I used to empty my pockets on the old one at the arcade. Beat it over and over again.
The fact they got the original voice actors from the show makes me feel like im 8 years old again! OG Turtle 🐢 power for life!

Heck yeah i had just turned 8 when the turtles cartoon debuted on syndication tv, came on my pre UPN station. Back in late december 87
So with the physical releases being slated for freaking August, looks like I'm going digital for PC first and then buying it again for Switch. No way in shell I can wait that long
I've pre-ordered the digital version for the Switch. The game thumb nail is already sitting there on my home screen - such a tease! But like you, I want the physical copy so will get that once released. There was no chance of me waiting!

Interesting point about the difficulty of confusing which turtle you are playing. I played through this game with my wife, where she was mostly playing April; so we didn't experience this problem much. But I think when we both went turtle, it happened a few times.
I think a nice enhancement the developers could add is to apply a setting which allows each turtle to have its unique shade of green that was sometimes used, such as with the original toys.
I just played through first 7 episodes, amazing game. A lot of references to both the old tv series and even to the old video games in it.
I'm super excited for this and Cowabunga Collection! I know what I'm doing tomorrow 🤪

I wonder what took them so long to make or recreate a game like this tho. But kudos to the production team that did this.
Correction to any TMNT fan as I'm an 03 myself and can see how important/monumental this game is as there's definitely the Turtles in Time and Hyper Heist influence in Shredders Revenge that keeps the charm but modernises it. The fact it's on Gamepass is no brainer but I'll end up buying it anyway to support the game and the work and sheer passion of the developer you can see it in the hand drawn animation, sound FX and soundtrack, interactive backgrounds and all those minor details of how the foot and turtles react and interact with each other the fact they added April, Splinter and Casey Jones is a solid plus and just adds more to the game and 6 player coop one of my most anticipated games of the year.
Even though they said they wont release any dlc for the game. I do wished they would change their mind and do so. Be nice if they would make it where you can play as Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady to go through the game again fighting they turtles and other heroes as the bosses. Just think that would really live up to the name Shredder's Revenge. Plus how fun would it be to be Shredder and fight Splinter as the final boss? Not to mention having like Vernon and Stan be the first boss fight then possibly Irma the second followed by other favorites mixed within the turtles boss fights such as Casey, April, Napoleon, and so on.
Man cant wait to play this game today. I feel like a kid again back in the 80's. I hope the dev team will add DLC for this game. Anyone want to play as the Shredder in Arcade mode?

This looks absolutely amazing. It's funny that people consider 2 hours for a beat-em-up too short. If anything, that's a little too lengthy for the genre. Still, I cannot wait to play this game.
3 hours is a sweet spot.

@@heyjeySigma What we like is all preference of course, but most beat-em-ups from the '90's can be beaten in under an hour. Turtles in Time (SNES) is about a 20-30 minute playthrough. I'm not keen on longer games in general, but I can still stomach 2 hours since I'm a huge TMNT fan.
Look at those updated colors. Game looks smooth.

Played today. This is the hr that we have been waiting for. Seamless couch+online co-op is amazing. No lag , every villain you remember fighting, new moves, story mode and arcade mode. It's all here.
Using the quintessential art style and characters from the late 80's to 90's version of the cartoon show was the best decision ever!
So waiting for this one! Preordered of course! Reminds me of the classic arcade style beaten ups. Turtles rule!!! Can’t wait to play tomorrow, feel sorry for my switch!!

You're comparing this to Turtles in Time, but this game more accurately encapsulates the feeling of TMNT: The Arcade Game.
Cool game. Now, in general, it's like a renaissance of beat 'em up. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
I wouldnt be surprised if this game sold between 5 to 10 million sales.

The day Shredder's Revenge released I bought it, a large cheese pizza, a 2 liter of Pepsi and called up my friend since the age of 9 and we played this in one sitting start to finish. It's not often you can feel like you went back to being a kid for a few hours in your life, but Tribute games and Dotemu gave that to me. With no caveats. It was one of my favorite gaming experiences of the last 10 years for that simple reason. 11/10.

Actually in the good old days the arcade beat em ups had infinite continues as long as you pumped more quarters into the machine! That's my one beef I have with this game. The limited lives and no continues seems kind of arbitrary in an arcade mode.
Maybe they should've called it SNES console mode and have an arcade mode with infinite continues!

I'm surprised he didn't mention the fact that some of the OG Voice actors from the series had lent their voices for the game. That was the top reason to want to get this game

2h is ok. If I remember correctly, I was able to beat Turtles in time on SNES around 30min on hard as a kid.

Fun game but kinda bare bones. What you see is what you get. Very few secrets outside the one character you get from beating story mode.
When will there be a remake of “final fight” another great 90’s arcade classic? Don’t know how many quarters I spent on that one. Would be more than happy to spend another 120 on a remake.

Now it be nice if they can add Mona Lisa and Venus De Milo to the game and create a legacy collection of the first 3 Tmnt beat em up games.
I've only had one hang-up on the switch lite & that's the odd loading stutter it has or it error's me out completely on occasion,aside from that it's been fun.

just for perspective, though, my co worker and I played through Turtles in Time and beat it 3 times, each taking a maximum of 32 minutes per run through. the first two times we did it on normal mode without tweaking any settings, ( I had a game over the first completed coop play through) and the 3rd time we did it on hard and beat it together that way. so a 2-2.5 hour play through is a decent size play through in comparison. we can always hope for a sequel!

It's 10:13am gmt here in the United Kingdom and its not letting me purchase it from the ps store. Its just showing the add to wishlist button. I noticed in one of the comments, someone said it was releasing at 5am Eastern time. Well, here in the UK, we are 5 hours ahead of the Eastern time zone which would make it 10am. Its 10:13am at the time of typing this comment and I still cannot purchase it from the ps store. Maybe the person who commented and said it was being released at 7am Eastern time, was right.

Wouldn't call the game's visuals "16 bit aesthetics". There are a lot more colors and details. It's closer to a 32 bit graphics.

@@jakkudemoff3043 yea I think Streets of rage 4 can be beat in about 2 hours or a little less and I was satisfied with that , also the developers of TMNT said they aren't ruling out future DLC depending on the reception of the game..
@@jakkudemoff3043 well if you actually go back and play those old turtle games back then (turtles in time, hyperstone heist etc,) they can actually be beaten in 3 or 4 hours as well so this game truly matches those games it was inspired by in length as well.

Turtles in time is great but did you forget about the arcade mame cabinet that preceded it...?
The designs (levels, characters, animations) are all fantastic and spot on. The voicing is obviously wonderful, given the return of the OG's from the 87 series. And I'm very happy that super attacks have their own meter and no longer drain HP. I always found that to be a particularly annoying holdover from the Arcade games, which were designed to drain as many quarters from you as possible.
Its a short game but for the quality, I'm here for it!
This game is not short. 2 hours is a long time and probably the longest beat em' up game ever! I love how long it took beat it.
