  • Cloner Alliance sent me the Cloner Alliance Box Pro to test it out for video transfers. I tried it out using 8mm video footage. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised with it's performance and ease of use. So much for always transferring video the hard way. No computer needed using the Cloner Alliance Pro!

If have an older model that records 720p at 60fps, and 1080p at 30fps.. I think it's from 2020 or 2021.. A few things I didn't like was the OSD would be recorded and is there was tape drop out a little bit the no signal would blank it out.. I found using a TBC would correct that issue.. Also it seemed like it recorded the audio at 128 or 192 kbps.. It should be at least 320 or even lossless.. Other than that I think this is the best thing out there, and tempted to buy this newer one, that looks to work better from what I see in this video.. Do you know any of the specs as for the audio quality?

well I, My Dad, My Brother and my best friend has had one of these since 2017. We Record anything and everything, BUT we did notice we had to buy a cheap $30 HDMI switcher to bypass any HCDP. Thats so you can use your DVD, blu ray player hooked up to it, or any signal producing a HCDP signal. We all have those HDMI switchers installed, so we record ANYTHING we want, no matter what it is. I have about a 1 in 6 failure rate of a corrupt recording each to I try a long recording with it plus 90min, I have software that will correct the corrupted file. I find it easier to use fat32 with 2gb recorded files, more stable recordings and easier just to correct 1 - 2gb file than an entire 8 to 13gb single file using NTFS. I use a 128gb USB 3.0 Samsung flash drive. I have tried many of these and even though its not perfect its the most stable and trouble free on I have ever used. I only use it now 3-4x a year, but it works and records each time I need to. Its great when you buy a HD recording from Amazon prime and need a backup of it for your own records.

Nice. Been eyeing this one. Does it effectively “upsample” to 1080p? How is the audio quality? Have you tested it with VHS tapes? Curious how it handles timecode issues. Also curious how it captures old gaming consoles like the NES and Sega Genesis.

Honestly, this video was really the first time that I have used this product. I have not tested it with anything else as of yet. I am not a gamer but there are a lot of other videos that shows how to use this product for games. Maybe there is a video for the old school games.

Is your original tape older Video 8 or Digital8? I have another device but it cant "see" the older original Sony video 8 tapes. The tapes are circa 1990 to 94 on a Sony TR55 before I started using the Digital tapes.

Is it the devise can't see it or your player? A regular 8 player can not play a digital 8 tape. I prefer a camera that can play either regular 8 or digital 8.

@TheMediaNerdMT Mmm 🤣 Over-the years I have bought several newer Sony Digital 8 cameras as they kept failing, so I think it's not the player. The newer cameras can play both types. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if it can convert the older, standard tapes.

How is the file it produces for editing video? I have always used Mpeg 2 as it was easier to edit. Also, I want to try to use the Cloner to record audio only. Have you tried that from say, a cassette deck or turntable? I want to try VHS and Beta transfer as well as standard and Hi8 tapes. I never used the DV format at all...

An MP4 file is fine to edit. I have not used it for audio, I use Audacity.@@hawleygriffon9290

I am having a hard time understanding what you are asking. Please give me the time code of the section of the video that you are referring to showing the silver thing.
