I was 20 when this came out. I'd become a fan from The Bends as my brother and I watched MTV in the 90s. I was shocked at first listen, but listened to it hundreds of times the month after it came out. This song is still my number 1. Radiohead fans have been invited on a long journey and we have discovered more than the average music listener, more than any of us expected.
@@munkymunk Pretty similar to me there dude. I first started listening to them from the Bends. They were pretty much one band up until Kid A and then a totally different band after Kid A, I wasn't sure if I'd like them anymore. Now I'm like thank god they did what they did.
@@GJ-ol5ev like being at the beach before a huge storm ,the waves are stronger and the clouds turned dark gray but you can't help but feel tranquility of nature
Was thinking that listening the other day, Halloween night in gran canaria, the ghouls passing by, the beauty of this song, so joyfully depressing , so like life itself
I believe this song is in 4/4, it just sounds like an odd meter because it’s syncopated. Despite playing drums for 10 years I could never get this one down as much as I tried to play along.
It's like reading a book over different times and years. You always get something new out of it and it still brings tears to my eyes, every time. There is so much sadness, love, passion and beauty in that song. It will forever stay one of my favourites. ❤️
I’ve swam with dark Angels and they couldn’t handle me so I danced with the Devil instead great times listening to these rhymes no reason but my unconditional treason and the realisation of a overcooked overlooked dead global nation!!!!!! YOUR WELCOME
If you know how complex the song is, it's fascinating to watch them focus on playing it right. Kinda like watching them play Videotape with the actual rhythm of the song hidden until it's nearly over.
There's something so ethereal and yet suffocating about this song... like drowning in the river, crossing the Styx, and being dragged by your feet by angels... Nothing to fear, nothing to doubt...
philip is one of the most umderrated drummers out there. his ability to keep time with complicated patterns and like you mentioned his tasteful drumming is so good
I simply can't understand how it is possible to play this piece. This is of an outsatnding complexity, resulting in something like a totally new idea of truth and harmony!
I've listened to this song over a million times, but there's something specific about this live version that gives me CRAZY musical frission! I'm always entranced by this version! :D
Listening to this on repeat, it would play a million times in 9.3796739929525692701599614672852 years. So, that statement is theoretically possible, though practically not.
I remember hearing/watching this song on mtv the night before I left for the army at 17 years old. Seemed to sum up exactly how I felt, hear i am 20 years later and it still does even though I'm a different person now.
Sending this song out to the other side, RIP Jay. I know you and I would've woken up to this song together this morning, so happy to live the day, so excited for our future. Until I see you on the other side my love, I'll play this on repeat. 🧡🧡🧡
One of the best songs ever in music history! Whenever I hear this song, I question my existence as a Human...and sometimes I feel prepared to leave for another dimension in peace.
One of my favorite songs by them, but hearing it live is absolutely magistral. I don't even have more words to describe it... And today, Happy Birthday Jonny! :)
This is the song that got me into Radiohead, and what a lucky thing it was when I dove into their discography, these men and their musical talents far and above transcend the norm and consistently put out beautiful, resonant work and I hope they continue to do so for years to come
i once on the island ios in greek passed out so bad nearly dying from alcohol. i woke up from a cat laying on my belly. then a voice in my head told me to not fear, everything will be good and you never should fear and all is safe in life. this song gave me that feeling again. i truly think god spoke to me.

This is the most deconstructed and analysed song on YT for a reason, it’s complexity and composition never cease to amaze me 🤔 so sad yet uplifting, the syncopation is harmonious and simple 👍 this is the only band on this planet capable of writing something as epic and beautiful 😉 long live Radiohead
