    Tips for a (traditional) Jewish wedding- make sure you have at least two non-folding chairs to be lifted in (much safer) and plan for 99 percent of guests to all be on the dance floor for at least the first 15-20 minutes of the reception. Lol

    For tenting, Bright Event Rentals does allow clients to cancel their orders 10 business days before the delivery and they will refund the deposit. The weather forecast might not be perfect at that time but you can make your decision based on semi-accurate information rather than taking a chance months in advance of your wedding!

    Also catering companies can restrict you to only renting items sourced through their preferred companies. One caterer told me all of the rentals, even furniture had to be through them. Ask your catering company and check your contract before signing. I also wanted to use chevari chairs for ceremony and reception and they said I needed double my guest count because they would not move them. The ceremony is just outside of the reception building. It is always good to ask and not assume that you can use the rentals for both ceremony and reception. I do agree that getting everything from one place is nice so I think I’m going to let the catering company handle it all since I have enough on my plate!

    Regarding adding items on later to a rental- i helped with a wedding where we decided to add more wine glasses after the cutoff date, and they said they did not have more of our style available, but they could offer the smaller size. Yes you should try to reserve your max amount, but if things change, it may not be a big deal if you can be flexible.

    We used napkins for our cake station, and fingers as it was cocktail sizes and also help yourself as many times as you want until it’s gone. It was a very laid back type wedding. Also we did have a TAB/Open Bar, glasses were on tables for water and wine glasses were used only at the bar for wines. Beer was can or bottle as it was and same with spirit drinks, cans and bottles. $2000 (Australian money) down on the TAB and by 11:30pm it was all spent and the wedding was coming to an end anyways. HD 5 hours of the TAB and an hour off cash bar were you pay for your own drinks until TAB starts.

    Very interesting - of all wedding subjects, renting glassware is one of those that doesn't really have an 'everyday life equivalent'.
    Thanks for creating.
    Have you ever considered doing a video on DJs? Hiring a DJ is something else that doesn't really come up in everyday life.. and how do you know a DJ is good? I know pants-all about DJing - but I gather it's something about crowd interaction, picking music the crowd likes, and mixing. You can ask for a demo in mixing.. but how do you judge if they do the 'crowd entertainment' aspect well? (Even if you're lucky enough to see them in action, I assume there's a difference to entertaining a crowd where the average age is 'college' and where the average age is 'has kids in college'.)

      shoppinggirl125 if you like beer/your guests like beer you can order 1/2 kegs for pretty cheap online. It’s cheaper per drink to do it that way instead of bottles. I plan on doing two half kegs (one with bud light and one with corona) and a few handles of Jack Daniels (my fiancé loves jack and coke so it’s a must). Also, the Costco brand alcohol is actually really good! Especially their vodka and whisky haha.

    Hi Jamie! Great video, super helpful! I have a question regarding renting lounge furniture or providing accessible spaces at your wedding venue. Anybody else feel free to chime in if you can help, too! My father and grandfather both have really bad backs and the normal chairs provided by most venues/rental companies are very uncomfortable for them, so I'm looking to rent some large lounge furniture that they can be more comfortable in for the rest of the evening after and before dinner. I haven't done much research, but any help would be great! Also any tips on making the wedding as accessible as possible are appreciated. My dad is set on walking me down the aisle (I'm praying for a good back pain day!) but it will be difficult and will most likely impact his movement for the rest of the day. I want it to be as comfortable for him as possible without creating a 'scene' or drawing attention to his situation. I'm sure there could be a whole video about accessible weddings, but I'll take any advice you can offer! Thank you!

      There a lot of companies with really great furniture selections. If you are getting married in California or Arizona, I recommend checking out Bright Event Rentals. But if you really want to invest in comfortable chairs, I would highly recommend Chameleon Chairs as they are the most comfortable and versatile; just be prepared to set aside a significant portion of your budget if you are getting these chairs for everyone. 😉

    • @Hayliehomemaker
      @Hayliehomemaker Před 4 lety

      Lexy Thompson I think it’s so that they can have a competitive price. So instead of marketing that they have $2.00 each glassware and no service fee, they say $.50 each glassware with an x amount service fee because in the eye of the client, fifty cents is less per unit and therefore a better buy (even if the end cost is exactly the same). Most people are used to having taxes and other fees added at the end of purchases so they might not even flinch at a $50 service fee but they’re more inclined to walk away from the sale if their perception is that they can get a better “deal” down the street at the competition’s company.

    • @kelleym1735
      @kelleym1735 Před 4 lety +1

      Lisa Experimentalveggie I think it depends on the format of how you are serving drinks. Will there be a self service station? Will there be wine and water at the table? If so, you probably just want to order your guest count and 20 extra of each screw in case of breakage. If you have a bartender serving drinks, some people may assume they have extra glasses behind the bar. In that case you can make a sign or announcement for people to bring their glasses to the bar. For the tip, if the rentals are being delivered by the rental company, it would be a nice gesture to allocate a tip for the driver and helpers! But that is just my advice based on my experience in the rental industry 😊

    I had a NIGHTMARE experience with the chair cover rental company we almost went with. The guy was extremely rude when we decided to cancel because of budget cuts. He never made us sign any agreements or pay a deposit, this was all verbal agreement over the phone and some email. But the guy basically yelled at me and told me I screwed his business for that day. I felt really bad but we literally had NO extra money, and we canceled a month and a half before our wedding. So I thought that was plenty of time in advance, I guess it wasn’t? Sorry dude, maybe make your customers sign agreements so this doesn’t happen? 😬🤷🏼‍♀️
