Growing up, other people in my family got invited to a lot of weddings and our bathroom was full of little soaps and potpourri satchels from different weddings. The soaps never got used, mainly because they were heavily fragranced and a lot of people in my family have fragrance allergies, so all those favors just sat and collected dust until we moved and things needed to be decluttered so they went into the trash.
The last wedding I went to, my boyfriend and I were both invited and we had to leave before the cake cutting. I really wanted some cake and I was bummed, but we did grab the favors which were little plastic containers with M&M's inside so at least I was going to get some chocolate out of the deal. Once we got home, we discovered we couldn't get the plastic containers open without breaking them. Now keep in mind this was a really beautiful ceremony we had just been to, bride and groom had written their own vows, and it was very sweet and I had to bite back tears, and I generally don't like weddings but I actually enjoyed this one.
Well, these plastic containers were heart-shaped, and we couldn't get them open without breaking them. So my boyfriend says, "if we're going to eat these M&M's we will have to break their hearts." We couldn't bring ourselves to "break their hearts" after the wedding, so six years later their M&M filled hearts are sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
Moral-of-the-story: those heart-shaped containers for little goodies to take home are a very nice wedding favor, but make sure they are easy to open, you never know how many guests will be reluctant to break your hearts after your wedding.

Hi, my youngest is getting married this month and we are doing burgundy and blush organza sashes with a personalized hashtag pen in their wedding colors navy or burgundy (guest will use during cocktails hour for 2 activities where they will mix and mingle to wiin gifts), soft mints( they can consume after dinner to refresh their breath) and slender bubbles to blow during the couples reception exit. We thought those were decent favors that came to a little over a dollar to assemble! Pens were only .50¢ each personized and write so smoothly! Oh and we did the mini wedding bells , will be placing them on each seat before ceremony to be rung as they are exiting as the newlywedded couple💕.

The best favors I received were chocolate, confettos and a wine bottle stopper. My least favorite was a USB key with the name of the couple and their wedding date. I have lots of USB keys at home already and not everyone uses them. The only few times I use a USB key is if I have an oral presentation or if I'm printing something at university...

Totally agree 👍I’m way past my wedding date (35 years married). We did the leftover cake boxes in those days and someone always took home centerpiece from each table. Something to snack on as favors at the tables always got eaten or taken home for the kiddos. Best wedding I was at this year had no favors but a donation to children’s hospital was made by bride and groom instead.

I recently Found you channel. Could you do a video on how to make a smaller scale more relaxed wedding (50-60 people) still actually feel like a wedding? I really want a small wedding but I don’t want to spend all that money for it to just feel like a random party. I hope that makes sense! I have your wedding planning workbook which has been a great resource😊

I feel if you want to do magnets do them for the save the dates as most people will put your save the date up on the fridge anyways.
I also feel like donating flowers is better than a donation.
We’re doing matches but also doing a sparkler-exit, I’m ok if we end up with all of them at the end of the night. But chances are once they light the sparkler it will end up in pockets and purses.

I don’t know about the US, but in France the tradition is to offer sugar coated almonds (“dragées”) in a personalised little box or satchel.
Everybody is bored of dragées but I think sweets in general are a good idea : it’s a nice reminder when you eat them and they don’t create any clutter.
My fiancé and I will probably go for a more original kind of sweets that matches our colour theme but still, sweets were and still are a great idea.

Cupcakes or candy corn, would definitely be a big hit. or even doing donuts, or even doing coffee favors, the best part of doing coffee favors, is that if some people don't take the coffee favors, home with them, then you can take the rest of them home with you and they could be reused by the couple.

Years ago when I was halfway considering a small ceremony and larger backyard reception, my wedding cake plan had been a cupcake tower with a small cake on top for us to cut. That way a bunch of time is not required for cake cutting, and we were also going to provide to-go boxes so the leftover cupcakes could be favors. But all of my friends moved out of state since then, so we're just going to elope with no reception. But it is totally cool if someone wants to steal that idea.

We’re eloping in Colorado and our reception will be back home in Missouri. So I thought about baby Colorado spruce trees as favors. They are expensive though. We are having 2 tents at the reception (because we could not find 1 that could hold us all), and since there will be a gap between the two tents we are going to do s’mores individually wrapped and that way people can have a bonfire between the tents.

At the time of the wedding, we will both have full tattoo sleeves. He came up with the idea of having a temporary tattoo of us. What are your thoughts on constructing DIY tea bags? I'm decent with a sewing machine and the fine mesh tea bags that David's teas come in look like they'd be easy to construct. I love their S'more tea and am thinking sewing these with "S'more love" tags in favor boxes would be enjoyed? Not to mention if people leave them behind we're fine keeping them. But we are also thinking of the photo booth - I didn't realize that's considered in lieu of favors! Hm...

I feel that some ideas are good, some aren’t. I wouldn’t get wine stoppers cause my friends wouldn’t use it.
I have different views than you.
For my guests, a candy bar would be wiped out cause their children would have a blast.
Photo booths are a side thing, not a favor.
Fortune cookies are great! You could put a paper with your wedding date & a thank you in the cookie.
I love magnets and would just add one to my fridge. If you have young ones, this is useful to keep track of dates of things for your child.

We are serving beer in the can at our fall wedding. I get that no one wants a koozie with my name on it but I think koozies might still be nice because it could be a little chilly outside! What do you think? Should we just use plain koozies? We met working in the Smokey mountains and are getting married about an hour away from the mountains. Should I do Smokey mountain themed koozies?? ? I’m seriously over thinking this lol please help 😂

That would be cute! Or you could do ones with little mountains on them that say something like “let the adventure begin”! If people are using them during the party, I think they are great. You may want to add a little sign next to them letting people know to take them home with them so you don’t end up with a bunch of extras too! 💕

I feel bummed! When you said "seed packets as one of the worse ideas 💡 🙄! Noooo! Im literally planning on buying 50 packets of rose and peony seeds from amazon because my wedding will be a rustic wood with a floral / garden theme with romantic flowers such as roses peonies and babies breath im also doing lots of eucalyptus. My colors will be a peachy pink , and eucalyptus sage green mixed with white and gold. I thought a small wooden wheelbarrow filled with soil and moss with the seed packets on tip would be soo cute ! Was going to take the seeds from the packets and put them in a nicer brown paper envelope and add a quote on each packet using cricut something like "let love grow" and then a small plant care section wrote on the back. I would tie some jute and small rose embellishment to the packet also . Im kinda stunted now though as I was thinking it was great and cute idea 💡. Its really hard when you have a garden flora theme to be able to think of cute favor ideas ! However I agree that personalised gifts with the bride and grooms names are a little cringey as no one wants gifts with someone else's names especially if they aren't close family such a second cousins etc or maybe distant friends it will just go into the junk drawer and be forgotten ! My wedding would only be small around 30 people 12 of which would be children! And I think the seed idea was also cute for them! Also thoughts on a childrens table?? Dedicated to all the children? I was going to print off a ton of wedding activity pages and coloring sheets and buy a pack of 12 wooden clipboards to attach them to along with natural wood crayons and pencil to match and they could take that home afterwards too ! Im aslo doing a candy bar so they would get that too! For the adults im also doing a second favor which is a glass voil bottle with Cork lid I am going to attach s keyring chain to them and add small pieces of the dried flowers from my wedding inside each one with a small note like a message in a bottle type thing with dried flowers but im not 100% on that either now :/

I'm having about 25 people, immediate family and closest friends, but with only a few small children. I'm going to do a variety favor table. I have like 50 tiny baskets I've had forever that I'm going to paint and put a different favor in with removable pun labels guests can tear off. So far, I have honey jars, seed packets, succulents, individual fancy cup coffee grinds and teas, candles, and leftover sweets. I may make one more actually personalized favor for the sentimental grandmas and moms that would actually keep it. There's less than 10 of each item, and guests get to pick what they want. All of this stuff I can just end up using if they don't want any. Except those tiny baskets I may never end up finding what to do with them.
I think your ideas are great and you should just go ahead with your theme. Maybe you could also add honey because it fits the flower theme. Offering different options allows the guests to choose what they take home, and easy to add on with micro weddings.
A warning, some wild children may end up throwing the barrel dirt or getting very messy depending on how unattentive their parents get. I'd swap it out for fabric stuffing or crumpled brown paper under the moss if you think that's a possibility. If you end up with 10 seed packets, just plant them, no biggie.

Who in their right minds are throwing flowers worth thousands of dollars in the trash? They must be insane! To begin with ordering flowers for that amount... Why are people throwing away tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding anyway? It does not make it better or last longer. The more vain people are, the less chance their marriage survives. So why don't we get extravagant with a wedding charity plan? Tell the people in advance which portion of their gift will go to charity and let them decide between at least three. Now, that's fun! And during your wedding you can show photos and videos of 'your' charities. Upbeat, for it is a wedding. All in a positive mood of changing the world one wedding at a time. Let your favors remind them of those charities as well, like a Christmas ornament for Operation Christmas Child (where people pack a shoe box full of gifts for a poor child). Or a little personal medicine box with information about the medical facility 'you' are building in Guatemala or Peru.
Hope I start a worldwide trend here ;) Join me! Which are your favorite charities?
