The team here worked on seasons 4-8 of the popular HBO series "Game of Thrones", as well as feature films and TV shows. I just assume they film most of these parts ahead of time and edit them in where needed. Most projects aren't filmed chronologicallly.
@@FlutterMouse it still takes a long time. But to be honest... those people make enough money that they won't feel to bad. I'd sit 4 hrs in mask each day if I got paid what they do

These guy's deserve all the success they get, such amazing work.
You can't complain too much that the series differs from the book in certain ways once you see the sheer amount of work that has to be done just for single characters. If they included everything, the budget would be incredible.

Yes. Yes you can. The writers are completely uninvolved with the costumes and sets. People never complain about anything other than the writing, the music, cinematography and effects are all brilliant. It’s the writing that drags everything else down.

I'm extremely curious about how these people get into such a line of career. I can't imagine this is what they always wanted to do, even as a kid. And high schools don't tell you about such career lines. Not to forget that such prosthetics haven't always been around and are quite new technologies.
Some form of prosthetics or another have been around for quite a long time. They've just evolved as new more realistic types of material are discovered. Latex used to be the mainstay. There are special schools for this kind of thing, but a lot of people learn just by doing as well. I imagine it helps to take a lot of art, theater, and maybe even shop classes in high school. There are tons of people you can watch on youtube to learn more about special fx makeup and such! It's super fun and interesting to watch. I'm starting to play around with simple things like latex and scar wax and just for the heck of it. I bet if someone practiced at it a lot, a good first job would be at a halloween shop or haunted attraction.
