Man that’s crazy because when I was in florida at croom atv park my EFI fuse blown I didn’t know what in the world was going on so I changed the fuse started back riding and everything was good but when Quadnation 929 and I went to Ocala national forest my quad felt like it wanted to cut off so then last sunday me and buddy went out riding and my quad cut off but when he pulled me back to the truck it started back up so yea I’m thinking my fuel pump is going out also and my quad is a 2019...Thanks for the video man it’s always good to see u on here with great information 💪🏾💪🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Pretty crazy it went that quick. I wonder why they keep changing part#s. I remember the first run of 06's had a FP issue and they quickly remedied it and it seemed fine up until 2019 then you start hearing about it again. Sketchy feeling when it doesn't start and you are a long ways from the pickup. Glad you got it sorted out!
When I took mine in for it's 20 hr post break-in check-up, they said they replaced mine. I have only had a couple instances where the start button did nothing or it took 5 or more seconds to fire up as opposed to the normal 1 second typical start.
Great video. I just replaced my fuel pump as well with the new part #. It works great. After a few minutes low fuel light comes on and tank is full. The picture of pump that was supposed to be sent has a black float mine doesn't. But looks identical to the old one. Any ideas on why light comes on? And what part is the float. Thanks for your help.
Do you have any suggestions on a stage 1,2,or3 hot can. I ride a 09 700. Also any recommendations on someone to install it in Redding. I’m looking for a little more power in third gear
Were you able to test the fuel pump pressure wise? The fuel pump relay can also cause the same symptoms on my race machines i run a race cut harness and eliminate the relay now by doing this it does seem to cause extra wear and tear on the pump I’ve had them go as well so i buy a new one every year! I also do a new starter every year as i run a 24v starter so that shortens the life quite a bit and while they really don’t die they do slow down quite a bit even w 24v’s so! Your old screen looks pretty bad i wonder if its clogged?
The same thing happen to my sons 2018 Kodiak 450 EPS, he broke down on the trail 12 miles from the truck had to tow him back with my Kodiak 700 we always carry a tow strap, had all the same problems why it wouldn’t start, warranty had expired, took it back to dealer, Yamaha replaced fuel pump for free , they know there’s a problem with these fuel pumps the replacement was a different model , I hope the new F.P. Will last no fun braking down on the trails, I trade in his 2016 Honda Recon 250 for this quad I hope I don’t regret it , 0 issues with the Honda.
well dang it, maybe I should take my receipt down to the dealer and see if I Can get a refund. would not mind an extra $350 back in my pocket right now.
I wonder if if my 20 model will have the same issue I’ll just be prepared in case thanks bro...p.s. finally got my tune back from alba on a Yoshimura full exhaust and it’s a different animal now💨
Got a 20 that im currently dealing with it did it before blew the efi fuse i replaced it and it worked for a while but left me stranded so now i gotta fix it
Bought a 2019 used everything seemed good. Rode for about an hour and now I’m having the same symptoms you were, accept mine won’t start at all. Very sad first quad I ever owned by myself.
Good to know . Theatvworld is my sons site , he rides a 2014 Rap , hard !! no issues either . Couple of buddies we ride with have 2019 & 2020 Raps . Hard to believe they might stall out before 11 or 13 does ! Still all are Rock solid . #savesportquads
Mines having similar problems right now my bike would start fine at home but then after riding for 30 min when I turned it off it didn’t wanna start no more leaving me stranded just cranking and I couldn’t hear the fuel pump either
pretty sure this issue was relating to 2019 model raptors, bad batch of fuel pumps or something during testing shorted them inside. bunch of guys I know with 2019s have had recalls done on them for this issue.
My 07' Raptor 700 does the same thing. Over the last couple years if I'm on the trail and stall out, sometimes I have to wait a couple minutes until bike will turn over. After a couple minutes I'll hear a click from underneath my seat, and my lights will come back on and the bike will start. Just to be clear, when this happens to me, I have what is effectively a dead key (no lights on cluster, won't turn over, etc).
Looks like all Yamaha did was change the pump motor. That’s a shame you have to buy the entire assembly instead of just popping the upgraded motor in it. Guess I’ll start saving for when my 17 goes out.
I think this problem was specific to the 2019 models, your 2017 should be fine if it has not gone out by now! bad batch came out in 2019 or something...
I have a 20 SE and was having the same issue.. would start to stall a little bit before totally killing the engine. Then would have to wait like 10mins for the pump to kick back on and work again. Did this about 2 times then looked into it and saw your video. I bought a new pump switched it out and first ride on new pump it did it again.. not really sure what to do now. Gonna run through the whole thing and make sure no bad relays and probably take to dealer if I can’t locate the problem.. any suggestions?
dang man Im sorry the new fuel pump didnt resolve the issue. was it ever actually blowing the EFI fuse on yours or throwing any code flashes on the dash?
I'm kinda curious why some of the fuel pumps go out so fast. I know a guy that put one in his 19 raptor after 30 hrs. My 19 probably has 300 hrs and never had a problem. I should probably replace it soon most of the time I am 20 to 80 miles from my house. That would be a very long walk in riding boots.
if you have made it to 300 hours I highly doubt yours will experience this issue. 300-400 is a lot to spend "just in case". I would only change it out if you start experiencing rough idles or stalling out after long rides. mine took awhile to die.
I had read that somewhere also but cannot find any paperwork on it. I think its a service bulletin but can't find the official announcement from yamaha anywhere. if you happen to have a link or something, know the bulletin number maybe?
@@trailblogger I had brought my quad back to the dealership at valley yamaha and the tech told me it's a recall on the fuel pump there was a bad batch of parts that came out there aware of it. But I remember watching other videos on it once I found out what the problem was. It's covered under the warranty.
@@godislove7545 i didnt even call my dealer. i probably should have. figured it was faster to just swap it myself and i would know sooner if that was the issue or not.
Great clear and concise video to replace the fuel pump. Nice job brother
thank you! thanks for watching!
You can't beat the simple old carburetor!!!
Yeah you can, those fuckers get clogged all the time.
Yeah carbs are trash 😂
Those altitude adjustments suck

sounds exactly like mine did. talk to your dealer, may be covered by a recall.
always a great day when i see your videos in my inbox. hope all is well my brother. stay safe.
thanks man, same! more coming!
Thanks for the tutorial , my 2008 has been solid the six years I've owned it. I'll know what to look for if it has those symptoms.
I've never had a problem with our 2008 raptor either, knock on wood! think they had a bad batch in 2019
My fuel pump won't go on when it's out side in the winter. I have to warm up the qoad then the fuel pump turns on.
This was the opposite, when it was warm or hot outside it would just blow the fuse

Its all fine! Solved in '19. My '21 Raptor is perfect an runs like a stripped ape.

old screen had roughly 20 hours. i was really curious your opinion on this.
TrailBlogger does it seem good now?
yeah it runs great now with the occasional hard start... im not running the latest version though. i put a -11 in mine, latest version is the -12

quick and easy fix
Mine started but when I try to ride it fast .. it just shut off .. comments needed !
Just got a 21 700r having the same exact issue after only riding it for an hour is the backfiring normal for these raptors

thats weird, my 2016 hasn't ever had any of the problems your talking about here. granted im in michigan, not cali.

could be the fuel pump or a short in the harness itself

The min you do exhaust and power commander on them they start tripping mine doing that
mine did it from day 1 with or without the programmer.
hows she been holding up?
No issues since pump replaced
What happened to your banshee I haven’t seen it in any of your videos ?

Hope this doesn't happen to me. Just not too long ago picked up a 2020 raptor se.
Mine started for a bit the other day then cut off, now it just cranks and throws a light but doesn’t start (2020)
excellent video bro!!
thanks! did yours crap out too?
My 2019 is doing exactly the same unfortunately in the uk the pump is £700
yamaha needs to issue a formal recall, this is horse shit!

So frustrating
I’m having same issue
