  • In this video we replace the PCV valve in a 2007 Jeep Commander to try and fix a check engine light. The code was for "idle speed higher than expected" P0507, there was also an evaporative emission code, P0456 which is a generic evaporative emissions code for a very small leak.

Quick question I hope this is what I need. My jeep burns a lot of oil , it doesn’t leak it. I took it to a shop and they put it on a machine and said everything was fine. Do you think this will be the problem?

The PCV valve could very well be the problem. At the shop where I used to work one of the guys diagnosed a Honda as needing the head rebuilt for using oil and it ended up being the PCV valve.

11:38 I thought that valve was at the oil filler

Would this also possibly be a fix for running rich if coils and plugs have already been replaced?

      That could be possible.

The only one I’m showing in mine is the one in the front by the oil add and then the line from the rear goes around the front of the motor and not under the throttle body

Why not simply buy the OEM part instead of this "arts and crafts" solution? Certainly, the cost would be very similar, and the repair would be factory correct.
