  • Recently, comedian Amanda Seales sat down for an interview with Shannon Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay. The actor and comedian shared her recent autism diagnosis for the first time, her lengthy career in Hollywood, and her life-journey as it relates to race. The conversation got intense on multiple occasions during the lengthy sit-down where Seales expressed what she called "racist experiences" throughout her life, raising questions about Sharpe's ability to handle more sensitive topics.

    FAQ:
Who are you and what is your name?
My name is My View My Opinion (MVMO) & I am a Podcaster, on CZcams. Due to safety concerns on the internet, I do not share my personal information anymore and I ask that others respect this. Also, I'm against the cult of personality & the promotion of self. I have no desire to "make a name" for myself. That's odd in this day & time I know, because most strive for this. Too many folks make themselves the center of attention instead of helping others first & allowing the information they share to be the focus of folks attention. Many crave applause, acceptance, & "fans & followers". I believe in letting the information take center stage.
Why don't you show your face?
My CZcams channel is host to my podcast. However, I do make on camera appearances from time to time & have many times in the past- as this is how my channel started, with me on camera talking about whatever. And for those who always ask, yes, I am a black woman, LOL!!!!

Personal rulenof thumb since my late 20s: do not attend a church in which the congregation is 70 percent women. And I need to see a range of generations, too (for the women and men).

This hit home for me. I had been single for many years and never understood why keeping a meaningful relationship was so hard, especially since I had no problem attracting what I perceived as good quality men. Now, for the first time, I’m in a relationship where my guy is holding a mirror up to me and helping me see issues I need to address, not just to make him happy, but for my own wellbeing. All those years I thought it was them, but now I’m seeing my issues, which is empowering because I can work to fix them.

Facing our own personal truth will always set us free. Free to love & receive love. But facing truth about ourselves is the hardest thing for us all to do but it's the only way to a truly happy, fulfilling life. I'm so glad you're on your own journey of truth.

I have young nieces and nephews on the spectrum and I was put off by Amanda suddenly claiming she’s on the spectrum. I think she’s valid in her issues with Issa Rae. But bringing autism into the conversation came off like “If I’m unlikeable; it’s because I’m autistic”. I know many children and adults on the spectrum who are pleasant respectful people.

One of my classmates is like this. She is always lecturing people, has a bad attitude, has issues at work, housing, students, professors and whatever relationships she is in. She is 45. Her doesn’t want to live with her. I am 28 and this commentary is helpful because it is making me check myself to not be in the same position

I made this for young ones like you. Don't fall into this way of thinking I described. Love truth & it'll love you back. The lady who is 45 most likely won't ever face truth that she's the problem, because that truth is just too painful, so like Amanda, it'll always be something or someone else. Like Amanda by the time she decides to face truth it'll be too late, she'll have run everyone away, she'll be old, & there won't be much incentive to change at that point

I’ve been single all my life. 54 now and I know the problem is me. But it’s my looks and that’s harder to fix without surgery. Sometimes people don’t realize that it’s hard for unattractive people.

When I watched the Shannon Sharpe interview, the first thing I thought was... your mother over-indulged you. She was not taught discipline when speaking. She lacks mindfulness, which is such a fatal character flaw. Everyone can't be wrong about the same thing.

    • @mvmochannel
      @mvmochannel  Před 15 dny +6

You're right. For some, this is the real reason they are still single year after year. Letting the wall down around their hearts is the only way to happiness for them but if they don't face that as their truth, it'll always be something or someone out there as the problem of their singleness.

Amanda is abrasive and is grating on the nerves. I have never liked her and thought it was just me until her recent pity party on the internet about black gatekeepers not liking her. I was driving back home yesterday from a different city. I turned on a local hip hop/rnb station and there were two individuals talking - a man and a woman. I changed the station because 1) I wanted to hear music, not a conversation 2) the woman speaking instinctively got on my nerves despite the fact that I was listening for all of 30 seconds. I turned back to the station about 45 minutes later to find that they are still talking. That's when I realized that it was Seales, and I felt justified in my reactionary disdain for her. There is something energetic that she gives off that results in people responding to her the way they do. Like girl, the problem is YOU!

MVMO your analogy of still driving to Georgia after 26 years was very amusing and it made me giggle 😅. In all honesty, I find that some women will use their poor behavior and make themselves a martyr in their own story because they refuse to change or see where they can be better people. Unfortunately that is what Ms. Seales is doing.
Thank you for always giving me something to think about, and also challenging me to grow and be a better person.

I agree with your assessment of her not getting the discipline she needed. Her mom didn't tell her to shut up when she needed to and I'm a family and children therapist. She didn't have to beat her just tell her to be quiet. She has a savior rescue the world fighter complex bc her parents didn't do what they should have while raising her. Spot on however I do believe she's on the spectrum just a bit without me knowing or assessing her just based solely on watching her over the last decade.

Excellent point! Amanda has a West Indian mom. I think that her mother just put her activities to keep her busy. It's sad that her mother didn't teach her displicine or social tact.

This DEFINITELY applies to Yvette Nicole Brown. Just looking at her interactions on social media, she is definitely the “It’s not my fault” and “I’m right, everyone else is wrong” mentality. Absolutely ZERO self-reflection. For an example, look at her recent involvement in the atrocious Good Times reboot. SMH

I have a co worker like that. Besides being a feminist, she lacks accountability in any negative action you was a part of. She has gotten into it with numerous staff, some even quitting. And everytime she tells her side, she's the victim and they were the problem.
Oh yeah, and she's single and has been single for years.
