Fun fact about carrots: 1st time harvest is usually great but they drain soil of nutrients so fertilize the soil(organically if possible) or rotate the spot next season. Storage, short-term, you can store in the crisper wrap them in paper towels or tea towels. Long term, chop and freeze or pickle them. Great vdo as usual, stay blessed!!

Oh dear it rained the whole day in most of the eastern and central parts of South Africa as well. Last time it rained like this was 2017 and we were all at my aunt's house in the village and my brother's car got damaged because he got ito a deep pothole, water got into the engine and it ceased. It actually got written off. This year we didn't make plans with anyone so thankfully we were at home. Maybe you could do a fundraiser here on CZcams too help the family with roofing. You know how some channels jave tjat "buy me coffee" just below the video. I store my carrots in 64oz glass jars filled with water and covered with a lid. I refresh the water periodically so it doesn’t get dirty. This helps the carrots to last for a few weeks. I think freezing is good if you want them to last even longer.
We're in Nashville in the U.S and we also had a lot of rain at Christmas. Every so often we get snow, but not this year. We spent the day at home but made the best out of it. Happy new year to you and your family ❤
Also had Christmas alone for once and it was stressless. My kids are all grown up now and each one of them had their own plans, which I respected as a sign of their independence, and the reality of Empty Nest.

Some of the tips I learnt from buying fresh vegetables from the Farmers' Market are as follows: 1) Cut off the green stalks with either a pair of scissors or a sharp knife. 2) Do a gentle rinse to get off the major dirt but no scrubbing in order to prevent any bruising or scratching. 3) Put them in storage bags then store in the fridge. Otherwise, you do the usual freezer option which I don't like because I prefer to grate my carrots 🥕🥕for salads or feel the crunch when cooked from fresh. I hope you found these tips helpful.

Hi Jael, I am in US and for many years went to college in states that have so much snow in December but many Americans who live in these states have fantastic Xmas celebrations indoors. There is of course a constraint on number of guests, but many American homes in these "cold winter states" have finished basements and attics which makes a an ordinary home have 3 floors (main house, basement and attic), plenty of room for guests. No outside barbecue though! Last year, I went to an American family friends house for Xmas and his basement was like a second house. He had a small gym, an office, a living room, two bedrooms a full bathroom and a stage for a band to play music, all in the basement! I know you mentioned you have friends here in the US. Have they mentioned basements? I find them really cool. Basements are however prohibited in States like California due to earthquakes.

You can safely store the carrots for upto 3 weeks in the fridge, perhaps longer if you wrap in cling films. We had rain on Christmas day and it continued upto 28th. 29th was first day we saw the blue skays again. It's OK on Christmas day but after that it lowers moods a little 😅. By the way maize can also be boiled in it's jacket. It keeps the kernels away from direct boiling water but l think our corner of the world love cooking everything in its jacket including sweet potatoes, pumpkins, groundnuts etc etc 😂😂❤
Hi Jael, for your carrots 🥕 get an ordinary plastic container that has a proper lid. Clean your carrots and peel them, in your container add some water and put your carrots in the container with the water and put your container in the fridge. Change the water as often as you use the carrots. That will keep them fresh and crunchy.

To store carrots - you can shred or cut in thin slices then sun dry them. Keep in dry brown bags in a dry place

I cut up my carrots 🥕 in ready to cook sizes. Pealed. Then put in freezer bags or containers in the freezer. They keep pretty well

Hi Jael, I am in US and for many years went to college in states that have so much snow in December but many Americans who live in these states have fantastic Xmas celebrations indoors. There is of course a constraint on number of guests, but many American homes in these "cold winter states" have finished basements and attics which makes a an ordinary home have 3 floors (main house, basement and attic), plenty of room for guests. No outside barbecue though! Last year, I went to an American family friends house for Xmas and his basement was like a second house. He had a small gym, an office, a living room, two bedrooms a full bathroom and a stage for a band to play music, all in the basement! I know you mentioned you have friends here in the US. Have they mentioned basements? I find them really cool. Basements are however prohibited in States like California due to earthquakes.
Oh... I also thought you might enjoy this story about this African American woman that has relocated to Ghana after getting a free plot from the Ghanaian President (he set up a repat program with a path for citizenship for returning African Americans - this is just awesome!). She's built a beautiful 4bdrm hse for about 7million shs.

You can safely store the carrots for upto 3 weeks in the fridge, perhaps longer if you wrap in cling films. We had rain on Christmas day and it continued upto 28th. 29th was first day we saw the blue skays again. It's OK on Christmas day but after that it lowers moods a little 😅. By the way maize can also be boiled in it's jacket. It keeps the kernels away from direct boiling water but l think our corner of the world love cooking everything in its jacket including sweet potatoes, pumpkins, groundnuts etc etc 😂😂❤

Hi Jael, for your carrots 🥕 get an ordinary plastic container that has a proper lid. Clean your carrots and peel them, in your container add some water and put your carrots in the container with the water and put your container in the fridge. Change the water as often as you use the carrots. That will keep them fresh and crunchy.
