Shane Mosley jumps up two categories to face his old amateur buddy Golden Boy. Great fight to watch. - Sport
Bruh..this HD quality better than most streamed videos?!??
It’s amazing
That’s that 60fps I’d take 720p60 over 1080p any day
dude is old video you suck
Understand. We as civilians get things as technology late compared to when it is first discovered. The "wealthy" and "elite" use and play with and get things running to the way they want or put out the version they want to the public. All technology discovered hasn't been revealed and all of it has not been revealed at full capacity. Meaning don't be surprised by any of it.
Right 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That was an awesome fight. Can't believe it's the 1st time I've watched it. Love the respect they had for each other. Great fight
I hope people appreciate Shane Mosley. This guy was warrior. When he got cracked, he immediately responded and met fire with fire. He wasn’t very defensive minded, but dude was always there for the smoke. Oscar was something special too. Would have loved to see him face Canelo.
This fight shows me why Floyd never wanted any part of a prime Shane
@@boxingchief9543 Fake narrative. Shane is the one who dodged Floyd. You must not know your history, Floyd was frustrated that he couldn’t get fights with Mosley or Oscar in 2000, 2001. They knew he was a difficult matchup.Floyd was the boogeyman. Same with Spence and Thurman.same thing that’s happening with Boots Ennis now. If you don’t understand that Floyd was always gonna completely outbox Mosley, then you don’t understand boxing.
@@boxingchief9543 Shane’s was the one who didn’t want to fight Floyd at 135. Floyd tried
He was a major PED CHEAT!!
@@esoakunne5590 chill Floyd was a duck his whole career
This was a damn good fight in a great boxing era. One of the best eras. I was lucky enough to watch it live at the staples center (first boxing match there) Time flies.
This really was the best time, where one era flowed into another. The heavyweight era of Tyson led to Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, etc. Then you had all of these fighters like the two above, Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins, et alia. There were great fights all year. Nothing like this exists any more
Wow! That's pretty amazing
@@larrycera1943 Fernando Vargas
Wish we got Mosley vs Quartey and Trinidad
The sidewalks was cleaned thoroughly that night
You could always count on Oscar De La Hoya to bring a good fight. Good times
The loop i485 at the legendary palace lounge
Gosh was this a fantastic fight.. Oscar and Shane were both in their prime.
Oscar was just past his peak in this fight. He peaked at Trinidad.
@@boxingchief9543 LOL! Please!
@@boxingchief9543 respectfully disagree
Floyd would’ve got KO’d badly against this version of Mosley. Instead he fought a way past his prime Mosley.
@@EasyMoneyGoat floyd called out mosley in 2000 2001 and mosley ducked floyd lets get that right mosley only fought floyd after he became the number one draw in the sport
Comparing this fight to Davis vs Garcia, it’s crazy the sheer volume these dudes were putting out from round one on. These guys were throwing leather
Davis and Garcia have nothing on these two. Crawford would have a good chance against either of them. He'd be a champion in any era
Hell yeah. I love Oscar but Shane owned the last 4-5 rounds. Up until then, Oscar was winning. Now the second fight was a robbery. De La Hoya won that one.
I love the sportsmanship and respect they have for each other especially at the beginning of the rounds.
Two warriors in there, and complete professionals.
Also knew each other in the Olympics and were roomates....were really close.
@@fernandocastro3531 👍🏼 and both from la county they grew up like 30 miles away from each other
@@fernandocastro3531 Not true. Mosley never made the Olympic team. They knew each other as amateurs and they faced each other in the amateurs. But Oscar was the lightweight representative for the US Olympics (132lbs) and Vernon Forrest beat Shane to be the light welterweight representative (139lbs).
@@boxingchief9543 but they knew each other during those Olympics I meant....pretty much grew up together, knew each other as kids...
Brilliant! Found this version by accident while searching for the fight. I wish I could have all my fights in these HBO look back episodes. perfect quality and nicely edited. got quite a few so far but will have to look a bit more carefully from now on as they are not all titled 'hbo classic boxing'
thanka again
After watching all of Mosleys previous fights up until this one, damn, i love that HD!! Thanks for the upload!!
Love it! 2 great fighters fighting their asses off.

Raise your hand if you watched this fight on a black box illegally lol 🤚
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nah, I paid for it.. Actually I had a party and everyone chipped in so it was just about the clean up. Worth it.
Sensational fight
What a fight! So many rounds could go either way. Maybe the hardest fight I have ever had to sore.
No it wasn’t Mosley won 8 or 9 rounds of this fight easilyz
@@josesoto9335 bahahahhaaha. Based on what? Your biased opinion? Punch stats price I’m right. He was outstruck especially with power shots. In what way did Mosley win. Try and perform an educated action and prove it. Maybe start with your scorecard…..

Two great fighters. Wow wow wow. Congrats to both champs.
Shane won and it wasn't that close
Yeah, but he lost the rematch
It was close, just not to your liking.
great fight.
Thanks Uploader
Wow this is one of the sharpest fights I’ve ever seen
The judge that scored Oscar higher should retire with immediate effect. I scored it 111-117 for Mosley
It’s very clear that oscar won this. Sure you can say Shane kept it close.
How do you score a fight?
Shane always had this awkward, stiff looking movement in fights. Lol
SuperCyberGangsta Glitchy like Lol
I know what you mean. Amazing fighter though. I wonder who the fourth great sugar will be.
Least we know where Porter got the motivation for his stutter/glitch like feints and movements
@@justtim7714 oh I know the feints you're talking about😂
it makes me wonder how he's been so good because he also throws some wild and questionable punches like he let his emotions take over
Great quality. HD...for a video from 2000.
Mosley admitted to grand jury in 2003 that he injected himself with PEDs for both fights with De La Hoya. Even so, De La Hoya clearly won the 2nd. Fernando Vargas also got caught using PEDs against De La Hoya. That didn't go well for Vargas.
For you youngsters that want to learn the boxing game this is a good fight for film study.
Yeah Shane Mosley won because he listen because of his jab . Oscar de la Hoya was told use the jab his corner many times but he ignore his corner about the jab and he let Shane Mosley get close each time. Oscar de la Hoya was not useing his jab at all .
2020 July appreciating this footage and boxing talent.
2021 now
This was a Great Fight .
Foreman is spot on in the fact that De La Hoya is an absolute physical specimen in this fight and whole era. The guy looks like a prototype, created in an algorithm to have the most physically perfect fighter possible for the weight division
Quality footage 👍
12:48 The greatest of all time on the left side :)
Compared whit today 's fights this Is way better
Buen programa
What a fantastic fight from both legends!!! Great fight by all standards!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🍺
this quality is great
Mosley was using EPO in this fight and still struggled to edge it. Crazy
They fought 2wice
De La Hoya used drugs both performance and recreational his whole career what’s your point?

I still enjoy this fight. Davis VS Garcia reminded me of this fight a little bit
Does anyone know if they have these fights on DVD???

Today though Mosley wins 114-113.

is it possible to make old fights into hd like this or was this originally fimed in hd?
노명현 I thought it looked real good through my my chromecast on a full HD 1920x1080 on a forty inch. whatever about the quality, it was a class fight.
MyungHyun Roho ko.
Miss hbo and fights like this where real champions went for the knockout and no for the bag
Jim Lampley has truly been the best to ever do it. HBO boxing was in a class by itself along with the old Showtime programs. What we have now is nowhere near the quality of Kellerman, Stewart and Lampley. Great memories throughout the years of watching HBO Boxing.
Shane looked far larger/shredded in that 2nd fight if he were on roids (who knows). Oscar won that 2nd bout in my opinion. Great quality video!
It wasn't steroids. He did EPO, EPO is mostly for endurance and recovery aka bigger gas tank for higher output.
He tested positive for the first match.
If im correct
He testified in a deposition for the balco scandal that he took PEDs for the 2nd fight.
@@darkpassenger23 No. He was caught. Mosley never tested positive
Good Ass Fight no matter how many times I watch it.
TWO GREAT BOXERS
One of the wins of the 2000's. Mosley comes from Lightweight to take De La Hoya's title and he deserved it. Shane was the better man on the night.
Does anyone else enjoy watching Mosley beat on Oscar?
De la Hoya looks more like a middle weight while Mosley like a welter but even with that edge It was a great feat to have taken on a Mosley in his prime!!! And no like others who fought him well past his Best years and flaunt It as though It had been something out of this world!!!
Legendary shit!
This was a war...nt a fight...awesome
What a fight!
I think this was the fight where the night before De La Hoya had eaten 50 oysters and gotton really sick, and almost cancelled the fight because he was afraid he'd shit himself in the middle of it He didn't want Mosley to hit him in the stomach 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The quality is insane
Referee is absolutely phenomenal
De La Hoya won the fight. He was the aggressor and harder puncher. Mosley's speed wasn't brought with much power. About to go watch the rematch. Oscar De La Hoyaaa!!!
What fight were you watching? I think you're just a die hard fan of Oscar. Mosley clearly won.
t I 1
There was fear in de la hoyas eyes after first round. Look
The key to the Hoya's loss was that he completely abandoned the jab in last three and became power puncher, especially in his last round when he was gassed out and threw the jab away though still could have had some points with the use of left hand
Mosley was on epo and other stuff. thjat was the key
@@darrill7777 yeah, but Oscar quit punching, he lost last three and that looked pretty decisive & convincing

"Devastating loss the Floyd Mayweather" bullshit. Floyd Mayweather didn't devastate anyone in his boring ass career. God I wish that right Shane had landed woulda put him away.

big Mosley fan but he did use epo in this fight he admitted it himself years later but they didn’t catch him at the time because the drug tests weren’t advanced enough
What’s epo
@@extertioncapshella6452 it’s a performance enhancing drug that makes your muscles use oxygen better so your muscles take longer to get tired basically, I’m more of a Mosley fan then delahoya but mosely himself came out and was honest about it years later when he would have never been caught so props to him I guess but he did snitch on himself
What a fight

Marvell Fight He was a draft dodging jerk
Did he know he was there?
Fuck ali.
hal warner The Parkinson's affected his body, not his mind.
There's a problem with the video. It's accelerated !
While these guys (Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas, Dela Hoya, etc...) were destroying each other, Floyd was ducking the shit out of these guys and beating his wife. Eventually he caught them on their way out.
Mayweather wasn't even fighting at welterweight during this time, numbnuts.

@@mauricewillims1656 yea. Mosley went from 135 to 147 for this fight. Something Mayweather would never have done.
De La Hoya fought with his head down, this is why Mosley was hitting him behind the head. A good way of creating your openings..
Victor Conte mentioned that the PED’s he gave Mosley helped him in the later rounds here. Shane def has more energy towards the end.

Oscar DeLa Hoya had to just win one of the last 2 rds to get a draw or both championship rds and he would have retained. One of the greatest fights in Welterweight history.
