    Understanding advanced grammar is helpful when it comes to reaching English fluency. Grammar tells us how to order words and phrases, as well as why we may structure statements and questions in all sorts of crazy ways.
    That's why I have put together a challenging quiz to test your grammar skills. Try to answer each question, and then I'll explain which answer is correct and why.

    The punctuation is wrong in the first example. “Whatever you do.” is a dependent clause; it is not a complete sentence, so the period makes the test question awkward and confusing. As for the third example - I’m not sure where to start. Once again, you have a punctuation issue. For the answer you are providing, there should not be a period after know. It should be “I don’t know where I should go.” However, since you *do* have a period after know, you have made the first line into a stand alone phrase: “I don’t know.” Therefore, it is possible to use “Where should I go?” as a follow up question.

      I agree, though I also dispute the "have studied" Vs "have been studying", I would say that either is correct there, but I reckon he couldn't think of a better example and went with that. I also wonder whether it's a poor question, more like "guess which answer I mean".
      I could say:
      I studied Italian for several years.
      I have studied Italian, for several years, now.
      I have been studying Italian for several months.
      All of which are true for me.

  • @lisah9709
    @lisah9709 Pƙed 2 lety +19

    If you put a period after "I don't know" then it becomes a complete sentence and you can't follow it with choice A. You'd have to choose B because it's a complete sentence. If you remove the period then choice A is correct.

    • @casmartin790
      @casmartin790 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      I hear you there, however, as the second sentence ends in a full stop, it's shouldn't be answer B as that would make it a question. i've not watched until the answer, just giving my take on it

    There's a punctuation mistake in the noun clause. There shouldn't be a period after the first clause. Therefore, the correct answer is. Idon't know. Where should I go? or I don't know where I should go go. In the second case there's no period between the clauses.

    The last time I had these kinds of questions I was in grammar school. I'm 76 now but still got them correct, though some of your "not correct" answers are also acceptable.

    Some of the questions are so tricky. I have mixed feelings about my english skills right now because I thought I would get all the questions right (don't wanna sound presumptuous). Still is always a privilege to have the chance to learn something new.

    That's an useful quiz,because we can learn more about some expression and the correct use of the noun clauses.The preposotions are a little tricky.That's why we have to practice them.

    I would use "despite" instead of "inspite of" making progress. Also, as a technical writer, I typically don't use the verb "hit" for keyboard actions, I would use "click the Like button."

    I made two flaws. First one was the first inquiry. I chose bored instead boring. That was somehow baffling for me. But you facilitate it sir. And the second one was the question about leaving New York. Which I chose "to". Thanks a lot master. Love you and your facilitation
