I think you guys are giving more credit to the government of Finland in this case. I have a feeling that they don´t know or maybe don´t even care about mr. Ekba. I wonder if Nigerian government has even contacted the government of Finland. All I hear "Finland government this" and "Finland government that" but when I go to the government page and look any mention regarding this, there is nothing. No complaint, no communique, nothing.
But the government can´t even do anything regarding this because it is a judicial issue.
But A couple of points on why extradition of mr. Ekpa will be near impossible.
1) Well, as mentioned in the video, mr. Ekpa is a citizen of Finland and Finland in general does not extradite its citizens anywhere. In rare cases Finland extradites to other EU and Nordic countries but never outside of those.
2) In answering to 5:58 ,Nigeria and Finland do not have any bi-lateral agreement on extraditions.
3) Also Nigeria has not signed the European Convention On Extraditions (a convention that non-European counries can also sign).
4) Any crime done by a citizen of Finland abroad, who is now located in Finland, will be judged under Finnish law.
5) The only thing Nigeria could do is to make a request for Mutual Legal Assistance to the Ministry of Justice of Finland or to the court handling these situations.
6) There is no bi-lateral agreement about Mutual Legal Assistance and Nigeria has not signed the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (a convention that non-European countries can also sign)
7) Extrajudicial means? Good luck as currently the only overland way from getting out from FInland will involve an extra 2300km of driving.
