Youâve done an excellent educational video Amber. This looks like a great unit. I will be checking to see if they sell these in Canada. PS Your design suggestions are invaluable to OGO.
#CompostingToilet
A possible solution for red light: place a small mirror on the wall across from the light
I was going to suggest that! Glad I read comments first! đ€Ł
Hey, I was gonna say the same solution. haha Either a small compact mirror or a full side wall mirror just in case Amber likes to watch herself. haha j/k Amber.
I was just coming to suggest this! And dollar stores have little 4x4 mirrors. They're even framed so it would look like it "came" with the camper.
Great idea!
After almost 3 months - my red light always stays on. Would love to hear if anyone else has this issue and how to resolve!
What a nice friend of Kathy to have helped you out with your composting toilet.
I hope it works out for you Amber đ§Ą
Excellent video, Amber. It was a joy to work with you on this project.
Thank you for helping her. You are amazing! Wow! đł
Youâre my hero!
You are a superstar. I hope one day to meet you out on the road. This old grandma could learn a lot from you.
Iâm so impressed with your friendâs competency in getting your toilet in. She rocks! So happy you have her as a friend. Iâm sure you learned a lot from her. Your toilet room looks wonderful. Enjoy!
Cathy has got some skills! Glad she was able to help you! Now you can poop away Amber! :)
Lol
Kathy rocks !!
Maybe a Squatty Potty Porta Traveler Foldable Toilet Stool would raise your leg(s) up just enough so it wonât push the diverter lever in.
Kathy A++ and Amber A++ as you two work together to achieve a common goal and produce the video.
Kathy is an amazing and talented lady! You two work great together. Amber, thank you for sharing this DIY project.
The pullout door is a dealbreaker for me. Itâs going to weaken and break. Yes, you can do the gymnastics some of us would require to never touch it with our legs, but if itâs the middle of the night weâre going to forget. We shouldnât need to worry about it because it was a poor solution that never should have left the drawing board. Iâd be straight up shocked if, when it inevitably breaks, the company doesnât blame the customer and accuse them of being too incompetent to use a toilet.
Furthermore, not being able to line the bucket with a bag makes it even more unpleasant to empty it.
To be clear, Iâm definitely not criticizing you personally. On the contrary, your audio is good and clear and you did a great job showing exactly what you were describing. Great video.
That was a very helpful review! Lots of great details... and thank you for showing us the ENTIRE process, so we know what we're getting into. đđ
I was wondering if that lever would hit your leg. I know it would mine. Try putting a mirror on the wall across from the light. Also maybe a magnet on the lid and wall for maintenance work. Thanks for giving us an honest review. Can I just say your friend is super impressive. That lady knows her way around tools. What a blessing to have such an amazing community of women.
A small stick on mirror, the type placed on the side door mirror of a vehicle. Place on the wall across from the light button on your toilet will make the urine diverter light easily visible.
You 2 did an awesome job! Love the tile too!
Another good job!
Excellent!!
Love the process n the step by step as well as the review
Well done!!
Great video! Looking forward to see how you feel about toi toi in the future.
Thanks so much for all the details. I have been wondering exactly how it all works in practice!
Good info. Looking forward to the pros and cons of the compost toilet in future posts.
Installed an Ogo in our caravan in Australia a year ago. It is a game changer, easy to use, easy to empty when the time comes, and NO smell.
The cassette toilet we had was always a pressure in caravaning. When you get used to the Ogo you just forget about all the toilet pressures and enjoy the journey.
Buy one, it will change your experience.
Yay Kathy!!! Great job!
So glad you were able to make this change! It fits perfectly in the space. Thank you for clarifying the #1 and #2 at the same time question. I've definitely wondered this! đ
Awesome Amber and Cathy. đđâ€ïž
Cathy is a rock star.
Great thorough and detailed video, Amber! Kathy is the friend we all need, worth her weight in gold! đ Hope youâre having a great time at your sisterâs đ
Oh yeah, I like how the intake and vent are interchangeable, nifty and smart!
Great job you and Kathy did, it is a very nice looking toilet as far as toilets go. This was a very informative video. Thanks for sharing this video.
Creativity RV liked this toilet too. You two did a great job on the installation.
That's such a great job you did . Very impressive.
Thanks for your honest & practical advice.
Great job good information thank you
Thank you for sharing ...
Very good review, thank you
You guys did amazing job.
Excellent information! I have a natures head and you are correct when you say you have to take the whole bottom part of the toilet out. I really think this would work in my tiny, just have to save up for it. Thanks again.
đđđ€©đ WOW đ KATHY IS A BOSS!! đ She is a blessing! Iâm a handy person but I would be so grateful to have a friend like Kathy to help with projects. I want to suggest that the Ogo composting toilet is also a great idea for boats too. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Wishing you safe travels. đđ
Very well done video. Thanks.
I was just thinking if you put a small compact mirror on the wall opposite the light, you could stick the mirror to the wall with 2 way tape then all you would have to do is look down to see the light. That should work great .
đđșđđșđ at 11:42 minutes, I suggest you mount a tiny mirror on the wall so you can see the light when it turns RED. Thanks for sharing your video đđœđđœđșđș
This video was oddly captivating! Good job showing us everything we need to know. one thing I would have liked to see is how the urine diverter is removed when you dump it. Thanks Amber!
Nice design!
Nice video, thank you for sharing.
Suggest in your bathroom that you put a small mirror tile opposite the agitation button so you can see the light
great job ladies thank you
Great review
Tip: maybe hang a small mirror opposite the red light so it can make it a little easier to see!đ
Put a little mirror on the wall opposite of the light to reflect the light on in the daytime.
Thanks for the video I am looking at replacing my comode with the OGO or the Cuddy toilet and eliminating my black tank. Appreciate your insite.
very informative -- glad you are going to do more reviews -- seems like many RVer's think this is the way to 'go' đ
Nice job with the instillation.
Iâve had a composting toilet in my cabin for years. It works great and is SO MUCH cheaper than a septic system! Youâll like it!
Great install video Amber & Cathy. Does OGO sell individual parts, for example a switch or maybe a second liquid container? This one seemed so much easier to install than the Natures Head. I'm eager for your future reviews. Thanks.
You could put a small mirror on the wall facing the button/light to see it easier.
It was nice of Kathy to help you install the new toilet
What a nice friend Kathy!
You may want to mount a little mirror on the wall opposite the light.
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to install and use it.
Wow, got to be saving pennies for that baby. $1,200,00. Give or take. Depending if you buy their extras. Which should come with it for the $1,189.00
I'm not exactly on the price, to shocked to remember but got close ball park figure. Guess I'll be painting the old wood frame red, buying new 3 gallon jugs and call it good. For now. Glad you could get a good quality one. It is on my wish list for sure.
nice job
Wow..Kathy is REALLY something!
Glue a small mirror on your wall across from the red light. Helps to see it better
A small curved mirror should do the trick. Walmart in the automotive section. Iâve seen something like that for side view mirrors I think.
Quite a fancy toilet!
You can put a mirror on the wall across from the light so you can see it better
Just an idea. Hang a small mirror on the wall opposite the button. Hopefully that makes it easier to see urine warning light.
Oops just saw suggested earlier in the comments
Thank you for this nice review. Do you have an idea how much it consume in electricity..?
Stick a small mirror in front off the light
That Is SO easy!! I would also be concerned about the longevity of that poo-shoot lever. No matter what height/size someone is, it would seem a personâs right leg would put pressure on it and, perhaps, damage it. I donât really see how theyâd place it elsewhere, though.
Ok.. I read the comments AFTER postingđ. All I can say is GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!â€đđ
Kudos on this informative practical review! How have you found cleaning? How about acceptance by guests?
Does Kathy have a how-to van channel? if not she should!
Lol no sheâs fully retired.
Hi Amber (lovely name) Great video. Really hope this toilet works for you. Xx
Perhaps you could put a little mirror on the wall where the red light is going to show. That might help you be able to be able to look at a glance more easily.
As I'm watching the rest of the video and looking at the comments, I realize that several people have said the same thing.
Full length mirror can also make it look like a larger room... and have something to watch while u do ur thing. haha ;)
You could mount a small mirror to the wall opposite of the indicator light...
put small mirror on wall by the light. Should do the trick
Thank you for this info. We will either get this or an incinerating toilet. I've never seen how it works. As to the light, maybe install a little mirror on thE wall. I think a little adhesive tile should do it.
We lived on a fixer upper houseboat for several years, and I know itâs a pain to pull things apart, dreading to know whatâs underneath. So I feel ya. Glad you had good help. An incinerater toilet is very expensive. But so worth it.
Great video! Iâm wondering if you can use other composting media than the brand that came with the toilet? Or do you have to specifically use theirs?
Having had a composting toilet on two different rigs and really liked it, I do have a question on your vent location. Do you get any odor outside in the general vicinity of the vent? I ask because on our previous rig a truck camper, I vented out the back and ended up moving the vent hose by tapping into the black tank pipe so no smell at ground level only when I worked on the roof?
I live in my RV with my son full time. I have a few composting toilet suggestions.
And I want one like yours. Love the look also compared to my rough 2x4 plywood home build.
I built a solid wooden frame, (son is a heavy man) with padded reg toilet seat. I use 2 plastic bags close pin clipped in a 5 gallon bucket with any kind of shavings coconut core is ok, but one brand I purchased for compost, dampened and left in a bag, suddenly had coconut maggots living in it and it freaked me out because they were big and ugly, and traveled. I am using hamster or rabbit litter at moment, but it takes up to much toilet space.
Anyway, I can throw tp, and whatever in the bucket as I do not have an agitator which would be a real game changer! It takes me two weeks for it to need emptying. I open lid, pull and tie off bag and out it goes to trash into another trash bag as well.
I created a urine diverter out of free unused poop collectors from hospital, that were given to me for getting stool samples. They are the perfect shape as designed to fit on a toilet, but flimsey. A proper one cost $78.00, I was not impressed. And it had to have edges to bolt under the wood frame. I Drilled a hole carefully through 2 of them glued together then glued and siliconed a hose to go into large random plastic containers I had from malfunctioning water distillers. I like reusing things that are still very useable, and see through.
My
#1 suggestion from me to you is, write the company and order a 2nd pee collector. You will thank me later, believe me..
#2,. Constantly check your pee level light!!!! Because of midnight spillovers, we use multi newspapers under the tanks, because of stupid wood floor inlay that buckles and peels when it gets wet.
I will be replacing after all this use, the bathroom floor soon. with water proof linoleum.
While stick down wood laminate flooring looks all nice, it is NOT waterproof. Think rain, snow, spills, enough said.
#3. Use lime away, or a dab of white vinegar soak when interchanging the bucket. Urine scale will build up on the walls of your pee container causing the red light to not see urine levels.
Which is good reason to own 2.
Source extra caps because you will in time misplace the one I got with compost toilet.
While I am 70 and diabetic, I guarantee you anyone can fill that bucket up more then you will want to go dump it, especially if you are sick, tired in middle of the night, or traveling in rain or winter. A 2 nd pee container is mandatory!
Before you move on order another while it can be delivered where u are at.
We use 2, probably could use 3, 2 gallon containers so we are not daily dumping. Pain in the butt. My son takes them both out at night as his chore and waters rat holes, plants trees Which love the nitrogen in urine. Doing plants a great service sharing that gold. My grass never looked that healthy ever!
Tip#4. Dump urine discretely, around the circumference of your van. No it's not gross and won't stink. But it keeps ants, mice, rats, coyotes, crawling bugs and snakes from entering into your van. Trust me I know!!
I am the Only one who didn't have deer, gofers groundhogs Chipmunks and whatever, eat my garden this year. Better, and cheaper then a fence!
I guarantee it will keep the rodents and ants at bay. In Fla, snakes spiders, and other creepy things get into RVs. Pee is plentiful, and cheap.
I know it sounds gross to many people, but I used it in my garden and am the only one who had big flourishing veggies.
That's all my composting tips.
You will love not dumping. Looking for dump stations, clandestinely trying to haul a cassette tank into a Walmart or a cracker barrel or even a rest area bathroom to dump it. Hah. Good luck with that.
I look forward to your next reviews.
Friend from Maine.
I want this
Looks like way better model than the one you had in it
Itâs a game changer.
@@AmberJBaldwin definitely
Glue a small mirror on the wall across from the urine diverter light.
Amber stick a small mirror on the wall next to the small light maybe a 3X3 inch and you will be able to see the light.
You could put a small mirror on the wall opposite the button to give you a different vantage point.. You would probably see the lighted button better that way..
Looks like OGO could make some improvements to be a good choice.
Could you install a mirror beside the red light,? Glad it works for you.
Amber, could you attach a block to the floor, raising your leg up and away on the right side where the latch is? That will take your knee area away from that latch. Before you actually attach the block, just put it on the floor to see how your right leg moves away from the latch. Also, maybe 2 blocks may be the right height to work
Hi Amber Judy here was going to tell you about a little mirror next to the wall but somebody already jumped into it. Also for the right leg they sell styrofoam yoga blocks they're like $4.99 and you could put your right leg up on it and it would take up a very big footprint you could slide it up against the wall when you're done. Didn't read all the comments so don't know if somebody already suggested that
Maybe glue a small mirror onto the wall that allows you to see the red light when it lights up betterđ
Hang a small handheld mirror on wall opposite button/lightđ
Thank you re the pvc pipeđđœđđœ
Hi Amber, I think I would glue a mirror tile on the wall to see the red light easier. Also, get a Squatty Potty for the front (or make one yourself) it would fix the leg problem. Love your OGO!! I have cassetteđ„. Judy in Florida... my_van_wolf
Can u put a little mirror on the side where the red button is and u could see it better?
Add a small mirror to the wall across from the button to make it easier to see the red light on the button.
A stick mirror tile for light night help.
just a thought.... place a small mirror on your wall across from the red light to reflect it. It might be easier to see when the urine tank is full
Mrs Harris hereâŠ. Try a small stool to put your feet on when you are sitting on it. It will raise your legs a bit. Just a thought. đ
Looks like a very good option. Is there a way to keep bugs from coming into the tubing? How large is the urine bottle? Does smell come up thru the thin cut for the urine diverter? Since itâs not a hole, you canât plug it. Can the fan be â onâ intermittently so itâs not a constant draw on electricity? Thanks.
They need to have the trap door open when you lift the cove up all the way!
Do this to find your urine level without raising the lid. On the front of the unit cut a small vertical strip, just enough to show the top 3 to 4 inches of the urine collection container. It doesnât have to be wide, about the width of a pencil. This way, anytime you walk into the bathroom you can easily see how much space you still have. You can still incorporate the mirror idea to alert you, but you will have a clear visual path to actually see the true level. If you are worried about smells leaking out, you can place something none abrasive on the inside to help create a seal between the container and the opening. What comes to mind is the packaging electronic are wrapped in; that thin solid packing material.
Could you put a small mirror at the side of the wall that it will reflect the light then you would see it
I think that thing is fantastic...then I looked at the price and thought it was way too expensive...I'll stick with my luggable lou, but thanks for the excellent video.đ
