I remember when Barry fry was in charge and we had a fairly young squad who were big and strong with a mixture of skill and goal scoring ability around the team. The players were from lower league's but did the job, that would be my brief with a manager like chandler. I would take a look at langstaff from notts county upfront for goals, many other clubs are looking at him.

Get your facts right boys, Dave Challinor’s managerial career has been entirely in the north west not north east, apart from a short spell where he got Hartlepool promoted from the NL.
You can forget Challinor as a candidate as Birmingham is not in Cheshire; he turned down Charlton last season, and left Hartlepool firstly because County’s potential was far greater, and secondly was much closer to his Chester home (the County in Stockport County = county borough of Cheshire).
Challinor would get the blues promoted next season, and as a manager who has finished above Wrexham the last three seasons (twice relegating them to runners-up) that is some achievement.
I don’t think he’s the ‘big name’ Blues are looking for, just hope you don’t make the Rooney mistake again and think that razzmatazz trumps a very successful manager like Challinor, but the bottom line is that Chester to Birmingham is more than twice the travelling of Chester to Stockport so it’s a non-starter as he ain’t moving, and as it stands, it’s not clear that Birmingham City will finish above Stockport County 2024/25.

Liam Rosenior tops the list as Potter and Cooper won’t drop that low to the 1st division but Rosenior will have higher ambitions. There’s not a great pool to pick from but they will have to be a manager who plays possession football. No to Lampard as he did his best to get villa promoted in the play off final

I hate the saying "safe pair of hands". If you want to stay in league 1 forever that is the type of manager you take not a winner. Here is the true stats on Rowett, ... manager since 2012.. never won a league, never won a playoff game, never got promoted from any level, made playoffs 1 season on last day, could not get Birmingham to win crucial games against other relegated teams and hence got Blues relegated. sacked 5 times. His honors? won manager of the month 1 time in 2012 and 1 time in 2013 both in league 2... that's it! This is a caretaker mid table manager who hides behind sensible interviews and just tries not to get embarrassed on the pitch which is why he is so defensive. Not a winner... just say no

Lee Carsley for me, though it won't happen. Rowett, too defensive for me but ok. Rosenior, I don't think he would drop a division and again too defensive. No one stands out really. Carsley has done very well with the Under-21's, he's ex Blues, so knows the club but only has experience as an assistant manager. Ashley Cole?. Can't see that at all. Frank Lampard ?. I would go with that, but again I don't think he would come to League 1. So for me Carsley, Lampard, Challenor

Challinor - neal - lampard -bruce again - no no no
Got to go for a young passionate influential coach , who is going to guide this club for the next 10 yrs , and raise standards throughout
Some of these names are pub team managers ...sorry but they are .
The blues team walking out at anfield ,the etihad , or old Trafford, with these names as manager , I dont think so
Its scott parker for me ...played and managed at the highest level, got Bournemouth promoted , carries himself well , and will live the job ...if not him will still , a highly qualified young coach ...potter or Cooper.
If this club is to move forward , and any optimism to continue , then most of these names need to be put in the bin .
Anyone who doesn't raise the pulse of the fans shouldn't even be considered .
Its a new birmingham city now .
    I reckon 2 - 3 seasons in league 1 , and a chance to re build the club .
All this nonsense about blues coming straight back up ....we haven't even got players or a manager.
    This appointment is massively important.
We shouldn't want a manager to get us promoted
We should be looking at a management team for the next 10 yrs plus .

We can do a lot better than Lampard; I would go for Mike Williamson he would be a much better choice IMO. Williamson knows the league plays good procession football wins more than he loses with average players he would have better players to work with at blues with a full transfer window to bring in the players he needs to fill any gaps. if not Mike Williamson then Dave Challinor very similar to Williamson in style of play he likes to use young players and we have a lot of them he also knows the league and plays good football. Mike Williamson or Dave Challinor for me both could get us back to the championship on the first attempt with the budget we can back them with. KRO

I'm not inspired by that list at all, I wouldn't have any of them. I'm finding it all quite tiring, I would like to see some innovation, not just selecting from the same pool of failure.
Also, I couldn't give a damn what the supporters think, I've seen some ridiculous reasoning that has just proven we know little about managerial selections (on the whole).

The thing thats annoying me is..... if we have the ambition we claim and appear to have. Go and get a big-name proven manager. Potter or cooper. Give them money and get us out of this league and the next whilst giving us stability. Not one of you lot on social media has mentioned this. Surely if we are big, thats what we would do?

    • @mzaking
      @mzaking Před měsícem

@carlgill1386 I did try sniffing glue until my dad caught me. The bag got stuck to my nose....
A young manager would be a risk, and if we are ambitious enough, why wouldn't a big name come to us? Maybe wait it out to see if they get offered jobs over the summer and then make a move. Anyone can join the merry go round but, maybe they want to create something bigger.
It's certainly less likely to happen now that we have been relegated for sure. So would be a massive coup if we could and would be a statement of intent. Fans and players would get behind that which is what we want. I feel like we need some stability over a good 2 to 4 seasons as we have been swapping and changing managers for fun for years now.
