Please somebody stop all this nonsense about us winning the world cup, it's not going to happen, getting out of the pool is touch and go and the prize for that is a date with new Zealand or France, sexton won't last the pace and byrne is not good enough, so having all this quality and depth is great but at 10 we're goosed if and when johnny gets injured, that's the big worry for me. A one off quarter final win is achieveable with 15 fully fit first choice players but it's inevitable that some will be missing through injury, here's hoping for the best.

in order for Ireland to win their first world cup they need to win their first quarter-final, first semi-final and first final. Its not happening. You the Springboks who know how to build, know how and when to peak and have players and coaches who have been in that position, you have wallabies who have the olayers and have the coach who can get them to the final, you have the ABs who are always good at world cups and then france is hosting it and still need to prove they can overcome a choke.

Well they haven’t been building very well this entire year. They got beaten by an under strength Ireland team in November. Teams know how to beat South Africa. They have no plan B and look so predictable. Rassie and Nienaber have clearly run out of ideas and are struggling to change the ethos and system in the team. No team has ever won back to back world cups. South Africa won’t win this World Cup. It’ll go to either Ireland, France or the All Blacks. Australia could do well but I just don’t think the South Africans have shown in real promise in the last 2 years. Their clubs haven’t been great either. Ireland have the coaches, the talent and the strength in depth to compete at this World Cup and the entire nation is behind this team and no one is getting ahead of themselves. The players themselves seem very confident in their ability and have openly expressed that they are going to win this World Cup. They aren’t settling for anything less. I’ve seen you make negative comments about Ireland regularly too. It’s no surprise that you clearly don’t like us which means you are fearful of us. And you know it. I wouldn’t blame you either, Ireland are a terrific team and this word cup is going to be a spectacle! 🇮🇪☘️💪🏻

It's not that important whether Ireland win the World Cup or not. It would be positive for the game if someone other than the four previous winners took the title this time, and imperative that England do not; their brand of rugby and disgraceful attempts to buy the last tournament are toxic influences on the game as a whole. However, even if this Ireland team not go all the way, they will still deserve to be recognized as Ireland's greatest rugby team (so far).

I'm not saying the Boks will win it, but I'd never bet on Ireland winning it. They were favourites in the last WC and as usual, couldn't even get past the quarters. 2007 was the oy time the Boks were seen as one of the favourites, 95' and 2019, no one gave them a chance. There's a reason they have 3 WCs and played 2 less tournaments than the other top nations. Knockout rugby is what they do best. 1 quarterfinal, the rest all semis and finals. We will know soon enough though. About 100 days to go.
