This is not just a Coldplay song. It's a Coldplay X BTS song. BTS are even co composers on this and co producer too if I'm not mistaken. Also, the color coding isn't exactly right. There's lots of backing vocals and vocal layering that they missed. Chris even sang in Korean in part. The last instrumental section was specifically included by Chris as a dance break for when they perform this song live together. You should watch the documentary. This is one of the coolest colabs ever. The amount of respect these guys have for each other was so heartwarming to see.

Its co-wrote by bts rapline, but it’s fully vocal directed by chris martin and the producer is mainly from chris team. This is based on song credits and documentary.
I think it's understandable that people see it as a Coldplay song, since it's on a Coldplay album and not a BTS album. I agree that the documentary makes it seem much more like a proper collaboration (not just a feature), I hope he watches it.

This song is amazing. If you watch the documentary you can see that they discussed a lot and had such great chemistry. I’m so happy. You should watch it, they recorded together and I CRIED. Maybe.

K-pop is a large, varied category that contains many different genres within it. It's true that "Gangnam Style" is the go-to touchstone reference for "K-pop" for people who are not familiar. "Gangnam Style" would fall under the genre of idol music within the broader K-pop world. It's very different from K-pop acts like The Rose (emo), Busker Busker (indie rock), Se So Neon (acid/art rock), Sik K (hip-hop), IU or Chung-ha (solo/diva), Sung Si-kyung (ballads - the MOST popular K-pop genre by far in South Korea), and more.
You are doing a review of just one genre - "idol music". You aren't actually doing an exploration of K-pop as a whole. When you get around to "Love Peace" (Tiger JK), "Sorry" (The Rose), "Midnight Train" (Se So Neon), and "Ultramania" (by Seo Taiji, who literally invented K-pop in 1992), you'll have a better idea of everything that K-pop has to offer.
As for BTS, well... They are their own genre. They are definitely K-pop, even though some fans like to say they are not. I think what they mean is that BTS are no longer just an idol music group, and that is true. They have grown beyond that description.
But K-pop is not defined by a musical genre. It's unique because of how the artists integrate music, visual storytelling, clothing aesthetic, color, and the attention to live performance - which often incorporates dance. These elements separate a K-pop artist from other pop artists - no matter what genre their music falls into.

I agree with most of the things you said, but I'd like to add that not every Korean song is k-pop. There are Korean artists that operate entirely outside of this industry (or category, as you said). I think that would apply to Tiger JK's "Love Peace" (and probably BTS' mixtapes as well).
Also with BTS, I think it's important to differentiate between their releases within the k-pop industry and those outside of it. While Butter, Dynamite and PTD do have choreo, I don't think those songs are k-pop. They're simply full English songs released by artists that happen to be from Korea.

Coldplay, as you can guess from my pfp, are my favourite band. Have grown up with them and their albums are always the biggest musical event of the year for me. They just mean so much to me.

When i first heard the song i was disappointed there was so little BTS lines in it. But after breaking it down i realized Chris essentially is only on the chorus/pre-chorus, the rest of the track was distributed between BTS, of course with Jimin n Jin getting the least lines but you can hear them harmonizing in the background throughout the entire song. And Joonie (RM) co-wrote the song specifically with ARMYs in mind so the YOU-niverse (ref Heartbeat) and stars they are referring to is ARMY. Of cos for Chris, he said this song is about love, not love for someone in particular but love for love 💜 I've been listening to the song with different ears & loving this collab more and more! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This song is so brautiful and the lyrics makr me both cry and smile at the same time also i love how the song shows just how much respect Chris has for BTS.
Also this is a dream collab for me as I'm a massive Coldplay fan as well as an Army since 2014.
Both these groups mean so much to me as they both have helped me thru dark, difficult and tough times I'm my life and I'm just glad I have them both I my life as they make my life complete and happy and without them I wouldn't be here today.
Also eventho Jimin and Jin don't have many lines you can clearly hear them in the background vocals and tbh their lines are my fav from the song.
Do watch the INSIDE MY UNIVERSE documentary on BangtanTV (BTS official youtube channel) so you’ll appreciate the song more, some members may not have enough lines in the song on first listen but everyone had a hand on it, the lyrics, back vocals, producing etc so YES ITS A COLDPLAY AND BTS SONG. 💜

The colour codes were not proper for this video. Jin had more verses but this video didn’t highlight him when he was singing.
But it is their song, they wrote part of it. It may be on Coldplay's album but it is very much both a BTS and a Coldplay song.
The Korean lyrics u were pointing at were written by Namjoon, J-Hope, and Suga, all of them are credited.
BTW, as of September 2021, Namjoon has 177 KOMCA credits, making him the second and youngest most-credited songwriter in KOMCA's (Korean music copyright association) history.
There is stuff can only hear with headphones and it makes for fullest lift with this beautiful song. The back and across with all of them is beautiful and the feeling of the lyrics are great! These smiles we might just have needed☺ ❤ the reaction
You may also want to check the documentary made for this song... thank you for your reactions.... also, they may have incorporated the sound of the " 52 hertz" whale... you can hear it as well. This whale is very huge in BTS world...
The fade-out was a whale sound, it is a reference (?) to BTS's song Whalien 52 where they sing about a 52Hz whale, i would highly recommend you to listen to it

Right when you said you wanted to hear Jin...he was singing the only phrase he has in the song. The acoustic version is really good. You can hear all of them clearer. It's my favorite version. Check it out.

Coldplay is the one who came out with the demo. Although the rapline did contribute with many lyrics, Chris was the one who arranged the composition of BTS' members in the song.

You really had to put quotations on rap line? They are rappers, you just haven't heard the rap line do their thing. You hear that vocoder really forward like that a few times because of the crappy audio used when this CZcamsr made the color coded video. It blends in better when you listen to the official recording released by Coldplay. Also, some of the attribution is wrong. There are a lot parts that were attributed to just one voice that are actually Jin and Chris, or Jimin and Chris, Jin and JK, Jimin and JK, Jimin and Jin, etc... Again, it's much easier to hear these pairings when listening to the official lyric video on Coldplay's channel.
Ngl, I was getting tired of BTS reactions, despite being a fan of BTS myself. I appreciate yours. You give more commentary, notes on interesting things…like, the way you appreciated “Black Swan,” for example-you knew some of the cultural references behind it. You actually add to the experience. You will see how much time and effort was put into this and how much BTS also contributed. Chris Martin originally was just going to gift the song to them, but decided to record it with them. In the color coded lyrics, they don't represent the members correctly when the chorus is being sung.
