Coldplay performed this song at the Global citizen live and the boys were there in holograms and in a screen at the back, Hoseok killed it on the dance break at the end!!
Chris said it was a tough journey because he had to quarantine himself when he arrived to Korea for 2 weeks in a hotel as it is mandatory.
Something he said for Apple Music is:
"There was a point where I was locked in a little hotel room, was like a cell & I was like; I have no idea what’s going to happen to me, I don't understand what anyone says, but I hope I meet BTS tomorrow, and it happened."
And the one you thought it was Coldplay’s drummer it was just a staff, only Chris went to Korea. They met the whole band when BTS went to New York.
when i watched this i held my tears until 13:48 when tae looked so proud when chris complimented jungkook. idk it's smth about how taehyung supports jungkook so wholeheartedly in all his endeavours and how he's always hyping the other members up especially during their solos (and ESPECIALLY during rap line songs lol). they're so supportive of each other and this mini documentary was so well put together and showed both artists and their messages. the song is so beautiful and i just love how well both their energies go together. hopefully we get to see them perform it together soon (maybe at the LA concert who knows???)
I loved how you can tell that Chris obviously did his research on BTS, and knew who he thought would be good for specific bits, considering their individual vocal tones etc.
He could have easily been much more passive about which BTS member was going to do certain things, and not bothered to get to know them each individually when it comes to their musical tones, timbres etc, and let them figure it out themselves, but you could see from how he was like 'no, I think V would be good for this bit' he wasn't just going along with what they suggested, he knew the character of each voice and knew what he wanted in that specific place 😊💜
Because he is sincere with his admiration of BTS and this collaboration.
he's one of the most genuine person I've seen while interacting with BTS along with Halsey, I appreciate him searching about BTS before coming to record the song with them
Chris saying jk is so impressive was just a wholesome...I mean whoever meet this guy like charlie put lauv Jason they all became a fan of his voice...and the way Chris went to j hope was another wholesome moment
Charlie Puth was dismissive of Jungkook until he met him. He was clearly taken aback when JK proceeded to discuss his ideas on how they should perform it.

When two genuine artists find each other they create the most safe and wholesome atmosphere around them. BTS and Coldplay are those type of artists; who appreciate one another to the max. Chemistry like theirs is just so incredibly hard to come across. Happy they did this collaboration together and that they took us with them on this journey. My universe is AMAZING
This is a powerful collab in all aspects . As a Coldplay fan for nearly two decades you have to know Chris Martin has made his whole musical life dedicated to uniting ppl through music. Positive , comforting , realistic , with a message of love and togetherness . The man is a beam of light .. to have two groups who authentically share the same values it’s beyond the music it’s self this is just beautiful . I really hope ppl get a lot of joy and fun out of this track but also a better understanding of the deeper message :)
Chris Martin is so humble and has such kind genuine energy. You can tell he made our boys feel so comfortable and happy. This documentary warms my heart. I really hope BTS gets to continue to work more with Chris. He seems like he would be a wonderful mentor to them
There were rumors of a Coldplay collab w/ BTS for months since Chris Martin was randomly spotted at Incheon Airport during this COVID pandemic. Respect for Chris to fly to SK and quarantine for two weeks to only actually work with them in person for 2 days.
I’m 71 and never liked rap music, but enjoy there rap with the vocals combined. You wanna listen. It’s their time and love it 😍

Chris Martin directed the whole thing, Jungkook’s name pop up all over his guide for the song. he said tell Jungkook that he is very impressive 💜🤞🏻
He knew jk voice has that magic that draws you in immediately which his voice did it, his voice has the ability to collect new fans.

Chris Martin went to South Korea in April 2021 to work with BTS. They shared with Butter with him prior to it's release on May 2021.

Waleska I agree with you 100%. and I am 70, so I have been through very many generations of pop, from my first love, the Beatles, Queen and so on. My happy genre is Blues/Jazz, but I really love BTS and Coldplay.
This is/was an historical moment in music, and it is hard to imagine it not continuing in one form or another. Amen, and if fate allows I hope to be at that concert colab. 🥰

I think the guy setting the "gang vocals" mic was Oscar Holter, a Swedish producer who often works with Max Martin and is on the credits with him and Bill Rahko, Coldplay's main producer

BTS are truly taking over the world, back then 2015/2016 when I was in highschool there was barely anyone knowing who is BTS
I found them and told the whole school about them😂
Last year my sister went to the same school even tho she is a casual listener not a bts fan she came back so excited the first day and told me that nearly all 50 students in her class are BTS fans and those who are not fans know who they are
This year she still go to the same school wearing my BTS Merchandise just to show off
remember there were videos of BTS spotted at that concert i Korea five years ago and they were all fanboying over Coldplay so i can only imagine how surreal it must've been for them to actually be able to do this collab in the same recording studio as Chris.

Love your reaction and insight! One reason BTS's music is inspired and has purpose/meaning is how they were "raised"/"trained" by Bang PD (the man who discovered/recruited all 7 members and created BTS). Right from the beginning as young trainees, he would ask them: What is the purpose of this song? What is the meaning or lesson you are trying to convey? What is the story? What healing will this song and these lyrics bring to the listener? Bang PD talks about how he would always ask them these questions to train their minds to see music as a healing tool, a storytelling tool, a way to communicate a message with meaning. Bang PD's philosophy and approach to music creation and production are inspired by Live Aid. When he was in his early 20's, he watched Live Aid on tv and was inspired by how music brought together the entire world for good.

Historic Collaboration: This one is right up there with Michael Jackson and Sir Paul McCartney!
I loved the reciprocal admiration of each other. Chris for BTS's unique talent; BTS members fanboying over an idol of theirs. You can see in our BTS men how they still do not see themselves as "the biggest band on the planet". They're in awe that a "celebrity" of Chris's magnitude would want to work with them. I also loved seeing Chris sitting on the studio floor as if he had just become 20 again! The other thing too about his "directing" or encouraging BTS members as they sang, well he is a dad of teenagers so maybe that experience helped as well - how to connect with 20's something BTS members.
I first saw Coldplay at their debut concert in Toronto, February 2001, in a rave/edm hall with 2000 people. To me, seeing this collaboration speaks to me of how the universe conspired to make this happen. We're students and teachers every single second of our lives and there was a need and a purpose to give life to My Universe. For me, it's not a coincidence that Chris had a melody and name stuck in his head. He was asked to connect with his kindred spirit (BTS) and bring this song to life. I'm happy Chris heard the call and BTS answered it. When kindred spirits finally hear their whale song being answered, they're no longer the loneliest whale. :)

When namjoon said chris "looks like someone who doesnt have any prejudice" makes me think of his experience when he was with other westeners. From your opinion, I really understand that there will be no second BTS, an ambition their country entertainment's industry are trying to achieved. First, there are not many teenagers who have the right attitude, the right mindset towards the job. You know, being a musician, or being a celebrity are two different things. Second, there must be a very good environment for the rookies to grow up and flourish, but also to have a bit shelter from the harsh of the sun and wind, the criticism, the crazy fan, the pressure of the gatekeepers. Many kpop rookies I know, no matter talented they are, are dying under their own label/agency's pressure. BTS are the top now in South Korea, so I am happy they have direct connection to Coldplay because at this moment BTS cannot ask advise or look up to their senior artist anymore. They grow above anyone ever.
