The explanation regarding this video will cut you to the bone. This song is now meant to tell ARMY how much the miss them but the MV meaning is extremely political, meaningful and heartbreaking.
Hearing the song makes you vibing like it's a fine song, but Spring Day is really deep when you dive in, the MV is a tribute to the Sewol Ferry tragedy, when you knew, listening to Spring Day again hits you hard. That's why it's still on Korean Charts almost 5 years now.

The MV is about the "Sewol tragedy" in which many people, especially young people, died. Bts wanted to draw attention to it with the song and give the bereaved with it a little comfort

This song holds a very special place in Armys heart.We call it the Queen. The song itself and the MV is almost sacred to the fandom coz of the connection to a tragedy involving hundreds of school age kids and teens.
This song is the one that makes Army especially emotional. The song itself is on losing a friend but the MV is layer after layer of symbolism about the Sewol ferry tragedy which was caused by layers of corruption (referenced in song and Mv with Snowpiecer and Omelas story) and the political fallout ended in the impeachment of the President. BTS risked a lot of political backlash and blacklisting making this MV and supporting the families of the victims with large donations. For me the sing has helped me through losing two close family members last year it’s sad but also healing in that it feels like passing through grief. Every Army is one “bogoshipda” in the chorus away from tears.

@@marirezende8478 actually the risk was pretty low - the disaster was in 2014, the song was released in 2017 and when the song was released, the former president was in the process or had already been impeached (would depend on the month of release)..

The TV show "Snowpiercer" you mentioned is the remake version of Korean movie, "Snowpiercer" made by Director Bong Joon-ho ( the winner of Oscar with "Parasite", 2021)

This is the story behind spring day. A little long but well worth the read. When BTS wrote this song they certainly were not talking about some lost love interest.
The sinking of MV Sewol, also called the Sewol ferry disaster, occurred on the morning of 16 April 2014, when the ferry MV Sewol was en route from Incheon towards Jeju in South Korea. The 6,825-ton vessel sent a distress signal from about 1.7 mi; 1.5 nmi north of Byeongpungdo at 08:58 KST (15 April 2014). Out of 476 passengers and crew, 304 died in the disaster, including around 250 students from Danwon High School (Ansan City). Of the approximately 172 survivors, more than half were rescued by fishing boats and other commercial vessels that arrived at the scene approximately forty minutes before the Korea Coast Guard (KCG)

Capsized due to multiple right turns, exacerbated by center-of-gravity instability due to illegal ship modifications and overloading of cargo
The students were ordered to remain in their seats at the same time the captain and crew were abandoning ship.
The sinking of Sewol resulted in widespread social and political reaction within South Korea. Many criticized the actions of the ferry's captain and most of the crew. Also criticized were the ferry's operator, Chonghaejin Marine, and the regulators who oversaw its operations, along with the administration of President Park Geun-hye for her response to the disaster and attempts to downplay government culpability, and the KCG for its poor handling of the disaster, and the perceived passivity of the rescue-boat crew on scene.
Outrage has also been expressed against the initial false reporting of the disaster by the government and South Korean media, who claimed everyone aboard had been rescued and against the government for prioritizing public image over the lives of its citizens in refusing help from other countries and publicly downplaying the severity of the disaster.
On 15 May 2014, the captain and three crew members were charged with murder, while the other eleven members of the crew were indicted for abandoning the ship. An arrest warrant was also issued for Yoo Byung-eun, the owner of Chonghaejin Marine, but he could not be found despite a nationwide manhunt. On 22 July 2014, police revealed that they had established that a dead man found in a field 415 kilometres (258 mi) south of Seoul was Yoo.

5 years and I still cry everytime a listen to this song no matter the mood I am! Thats exactly why this is one of my fav songs from BTS but I rarely listen to it! It is in my playlist along with Michael Jaccson´s cry, lost children, don´t walk away, Jhene Aiko´s Eternal Sunshine etc...

the cloths actually refere to every kid who died in the Ferry Traged
this song basically referse to ferry tragedy that happened in April 2014 in Korea. That's also why is it called spring day. many kids died because of the captain told them to stay where they are while he saved himself and let the drown, BTS basically represents those kids who survived, but now they feel guilty for being alive, because their friends did not. the there are also reference to some books and movies. One is for "The one who walks away from Omelas" it's a book about a perfect world, well almost perfect...a child has to suffer for other to be happy. There are also referneces to the fact how in Korea authority allways come first, even before your life and how innocent people suffer before of it. The kids could be alive now, if they wouldn't be afraid not to listen to the authority aka their captain and teachers. RM in the lyrics refer to the fact, that time goes on but the kids who died will forever be stuck in spring day...they won't be able to move on, to grow up, to experience the beauty of life. Time is so cruel. it's cruel because now the kids who survived had to grow up but there is no longer their friends next to them to grow up with them. But there is also the hope that one day the lost friends will come back, that they would be able to move on from the tragedy and trauma. one day

The song is about missing lost friends it's really sad but the MV references a sad tragedy that happened in South Korea =( RM talks more about the lyrics and how he wrote them in a vlive if you want to watch that to know the background story.

Everyone has lost someone dear and important in their life. That's why everyone loves this song and it hits you right in the heart. The song is basically saying "I am trying to deal with your death". Lost my dad 4 years ago (fu*kin cancer), it all happened so fast in less than two months, and Spring Day always reminds me of him. One day we will meet again...
