Smoothskin (the last boss) is traumatized by his abusive parents. The clay figures aren't parental because his actual parents weren't parental. So yes, him being infantile has no effect on gameplay and is just for lore purposes.

@@theStr4yD0g burnout, as the name implies, has stellar burst damage that falls off quickly
Burnout is great with both of his damaging attacks. If he gets lame exit, he's kind of... Well, lame. Reduces his damage potential and flexibility by a lot, and since he has red health, you don't get the pigment you need to use it when he gets damaged.

@@jimcrumpet7015 don't know if I understood that. but, what's true is that he solidly separates himself from engaging with stories in their context. He's never going to 'care' about the series of pixels that other people call 'a character'.

unfortunately burnout really falls off later since he cant one-shot most enemies anymore leading him to become progressively more useless over a run. hes great early game tho.

Its pretty sad you wont read the story which probably will only show up like a couple times and after the ending in the last video it seems like its trying something cooler then "whoops you just fall asleep" slay the spire style.
bro play it yourself if you want the lore (or watch like anyone else). NL isn't a lore gamer and never has been. The lore in this game is great but I don't know why you'd watch NL expecting any of it 💀

when you adress back seating, i agree, its hard to find a happy medium to humor people and to tell them to stop gas lighting lol. cuz what if you did exactly what they told you like 30 minutes ago? and their on about it again like you didnt, ive seen that n some streamers are 100% justified to call them shit heads for it id say.
my 2 cents is that backseating is just a gamble. by accepting backseating, a streamer artificially makes themselves better, but runs the risk of taking bad information. personally, i just wouldn't allow backseating, but the egg has decided that he wants to, and the run ending this time is simply a consequence of that.

For context, the attack the purple visage was doing would've dealt 20 damage to every enemy, which would have killed the boss

The entire reason the run failed was because there wasn’t a way to know definitively if the units were parental or not and he didn’t want to risk it

@@rmiah "no way to know if they were parental or not" my brother in christ they dont have the parental passive. thats the whole point of smoothskin as a character. hes a child with no parents
@@acherowyo7555 the problem is chat was telling him all crap advice, like some were saying "yeah they have no parental trait" others were saying "but look at their name" etc. It's confusing, but I guess that's the point and the backstory of the boss.
@@acherowyo7555 we have the benefit of hindsight as the very next run showed the parental trait but if you were thrown in there with hundreds of chatters saying they’re parental just from their name you’d probably have doubts too. Going into this fight blind too doesn’t put it out of the question whether their names make them parental or not.
