I have been posting 3D videos to CZcams from around 2015 - 2021. I still have equipment, and I will probably do more, but it is not a priority. The problem is that 3D and surround video technologies tend to detract from story telling. It becomes the point of the video instead of the conduit. And as you use it, it becomes "transparent", which is to say, if you have a strong enough story, then you stop noticing the special presentation method and it becomes a wasted effort.
Well said! VR180 at least is a format that takes to much participation to look atoms. Have also been shooting 3D and Vr since 2015. I think straight up 3D is the future because we have 2 eyes- just like stereo music. Just not 180
The resolution of the R5C in VR-180 when shooting 8K-RAW-LT wasn't so great in my eyes. This is why I made only some tests with VR-180 and my R5C. VR-180 is the only case where I wish more than 45MP because you use only the half resolution per eye. Now, the R7 has only 32MP, so I think it will naturally be worse quality than VR-180 out of an R5C. So I'm not excited about VR with the R7.
Ps the Oculus Quest 3 at 499 is amazing piece of equipment with enough power to play the same videos and at a normal price point I'd go quest 3 every single day over the apples 3grand brick paper weight
How do you explain the lack of interest in the Quest at $500. The price point isn't the problem.

I have been shooting APSC for years, the R7 is great for me. I just don’t know which lens to get. My aim is simply to record the kids for what ever occasions. The only problem is, the headset as no one can consume it (as intended)

yeah major flop , here in Australia 1tb option starts at 6700 aud which is mental. 100 % agree with you needs to be $500 usd which is about $750 here to be even close to viable. and apple should of brought Canon and then it could of injected money into canon for it to be the lead for the content creation to happen. And even with new lens announced wont really be out there till 2025 so a couple years of people working out how to do it means 2027 before any real content starts arriving i would say . they should of held it back its not ready except for millionaires who have money to burn
Vr and 3d headsets for content or gaming like the apple one will never be mainstream if they continue to be headsets. We need extremely light devices like glasses or maybe retina laser projectors or neuro wave links, you would only put your earbuds and they'd synchronise with your brain waves to send content. Maybe in 30-50 years? 😅
Ugh so annoying. People bought to try with no intention on keeping it. I’ve had mine since day one and use it all the time.
I think APPL will need FB help to make the content pervasive. The types of content will be different for immersive video. It will be like going to the strip club vs hanging out with wifey. Wife and stripper are optimized for two types of experiences. The immersive stuff needs to be new, precocious fantasy experiences where you could never witness with novel camera angles (e.g. concert front row, nba courtside, rocket launch, Antarctica expedition etc.) pedestrian experiences that don’t cater to fantasy (e.g. news, CZcams rant content etc) will be suitable for non-immersive. This will make production cost for immersive content acquisition more expensive due to grip equipment. Also, porn will need to be part of the mix. Gonzo porn experience will cause and explosion (no pun intended) in usage.
There is a myth of if they build it and they will come. VR has existsed in many different forms over the years and it has never taken off. Sci Fi movies can make it look cool but it's not practical in real life. £500 to watch a movie by yourself or some kind of multiplayer experience, or go out for a meal with your friends and go to the cinema? The latter is going to win every time.
I own an r7 and it's a pretty stout camera especially for still images it has great image quailty and takes good video but the video isn't like cinematic crazy good but for the price point of the r7 it's alot of bang for it's buck for cameras in the same price range. Ilyour right it's not an r5 but it can hold it's own with photography and video if you know what your doing and have good glass

Have you guys even heard of Quest 2 or 3? Quest is what 249$? It can comfortably play 8k vr180 content.
I get that you are hyped up, as I was in 2015 when I got started with vr180 and the big jump in I mage quality that 7k brought, but brah, it won't change the world. Maybe just porn, which actually could work :)
