- This video shows how easy it is to prepare a normal cheap canvas so that it is ready for a resin pour. Using this method eliminates the risk of your canvas having ridges and dips. My how to prepare a canvas for a resin pour video to prevent ridges and dips is easy to follow and works every time, as you can see from the quick pour I do towards the end of the video. I also show how you can simply create cells in resin on a canvas.

Although I often talk about health and safety in my videos, please make sure you do your own research and take the relevant precautions to ensure that you are protecting your health. I am not responsible for anyone using resin and not taking the correct safety precautions. Resin is a chemical and as such should be always treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken.

I had terrible trouble on a large acrylic pour. Wasted tons of paint and the canvas [I thought] because of major pooling, until I saw this video. You have inspired me to give it another try. THANKS so very much!
Easiest, fastest way to prep a canvas for resin, pour a thin layer of cheap resin on the back of your canvas and let it cure.
Once it's cured you can pour on the front of the canvas with no sagging. I've used large canvases for ceodes with heavy layers of resin and crystals and stones, no sagging at all.
Also, if you want to cut a hole in the canvas for a geode, jigsaws work perfectly through the canvas and resin on the backside.
Just thought I'd share a simpler way to prep a canvas.
These are the best & simplest ways to deal with cheap canvas I've seen ‼️ Thank you ‼️😻
I wasnt planning on doing any canvases just coasters but when i watched this i think ill do both.thanks
Me through this entire video: "Smart, smart, ah yes, smart smart"
I am a fan of your easy and fun artistic style, thank you from Saudi Arabia
If you hot glue around the foam board it will stay in place much better 😊
Hello,
Oh my gosh I am so happy I discovered this video. I want to try this ...Thank you
Bless you Steve …. I love all your videos 💕 Katherine
Brilliant you solved all of my problems. I’m going to be doing a resin pour on a 24x30 oil painting on canvas. I was nervous but I think that this process will be perfect for even that size. I may add extra canvas support beams, and I will most likely use gesso on the back rather than water because it’s already painted. But the foam board will be perfect!!!
after watching this I felt stupid I didn't think of it myself. It's obvious. I was considering laying a thin layer on the back and letting it cure before working on the other side, this is much more cost effective, I think. Thanks!
How did this turn out so beautiful? Wow!!

Love your videos😊
This is amazing! I have a business with resin and I will try this technique! :))
Thank you
thanks for an informative share
Thanks for this video. I have been trying paint pours with acrylic paint and I don't like how matte they look. I guess I'm not doing it correctly. But I like this with the resin and how shiny it looks. Going to try this method since I have a few canvasas left from my Christmas presents. ( everyone knew I liked arts and crafts, they must have been on sale LOL)
Great thank you so much!
Great tip!
Thank you!
Very helpful Steve. I love using resin on timber boards but have struggled on canvases. I have a painting I’d really like to resin, but it has thicker sides than yours did (3.5cm?) and the timber frame leans in on an angle. I will figure out a way to adapt your method to get a piece of board in there snugly. Cheers, Kelly 🇦🇺
