I have been following your writing since the old Listener days! You and Art Dudley are my favorite writers on the Stereophile staff! I too have the hi-fi bug! My three-room condo down here in Florida has been taken over by audio gear and guitars - two rooms look like storage lockers! As an audiophile one can never have too much stuff (including LP's and CD's)! I used to live in CT for 40+ years and finally moved down south to escape the weather and high cost of living! Hope you continue writing for years to come!

I see you have those smaller Harbeths. I listened to them the other day and I cannot stop thinking of them. They remind me of older quad ESL 57's. I Have a smaller room and they may really fit the bill... They are very nice amongst the best I have heard with that sealed cabinet.

so are we to gather that Herb and "The Mistress of the Garden" hooked up once? I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that. I just think that I might want to hang out with women who run chili-dog shops from now on, just in case they find me attractive. I'd rather get a free chili-dog every so often than a loaf of bread.
okay - on a more pertinent note - it looks like Herb and Steve both have Magnepan's in their listening setups. Why haven't I heard more about those? They are quite reasonably priced and I remember when they were blowing people's minds. Is it the case that many of us audiophiles are more hooked on novelty than we are on fidelity?! Say it ain't so!
Funny how audio products from Brooklyn always get rave reviews at Stereophool(sp?). Now we know why.

i am a fan. so i certainly don't mean to be discourteous. but you say there's a battle going on pitting various stereo equipment --
speakers, specifically, it appears -- against your painting studio. well, the way you have those poor, lovely speakers stacked up one on top of the other, helter skelter, it very much looks like the speakers are losing, badly.
Not to be contrary, thats not a fly rod, sorry. Great place though, lots of interesting junk.

Those poor people have records , material stuff they own.......the new generation will have nothing left besides the ( payed )memories of faded away streaming.......
Record nuts are all the same. No room anywhere because the "normal" room most people have is sublimated by gear and RECORDS!!!!

This is not interesting. Reviewers act like entitled influnecers at times. What are we watching here? The majority of people aren't interested in you talking about stereophile or the reviewing process.
