- Here's a little presentation of who I think I am, because I thought, hey, you guys don't even know who I am!
I forgot of course so many things now that I think about it, like, how did I discover Ram Dass, how did I got into spirituality... but that could be the topic for another video!

I think you’ve made a very good point. People do tend to make life about work. Living to work vs working to live. I work to live. When people ask what i do, I don’t tell them I deliver furniture and manage a warehouse. I tell them that I paint and perform music and draw, because these are the things I’m passionate about. I simply work so I can have money to do what I love. It feels so much more freeing to live this way.

having graduated a year ago, and wondering employment endlessly i know what i would rather be doing all day, i just wanna create. wither its music, art, pictures, films. i have no clue what i want for a career and i don't really care to be honest as long it supports my hobbies and those whom i love. music is my whole life. I LOVE NIRVANA!!! i am a nirvana fanboy. but anyways, i know my hobbies is what makes me the most happiest, not my job, but if i could make those two the same i would be so grateful!!

Sadly thats the time we live in and one of the stuff that i hate about it. We are our jobs, we are what we look.. whats inside isnt important. Even that i was liked because of my physics since i was training my whole life i really hated that. I wanted to be liked because who i am inside and not outside.. not because how i look. Even thought to stop training because l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.. or it was..
I think you are correct when you say that people are asking about your job when they ask "what do you do" but I think it can be taken as an invitation to talk about what you're most interested in. If you were an aspiring author or musician then that's what you say you are, you wouldn't describe yourself by your current job but your aspirations.
Maybe spiritual and wellness stuff will be your next hobby or maybe yoga and philosophy :)

if you do have ADHD (neurodivergent guy here), using spiritualism, the teachings of the old gurus, teachers to make ADHD guide your life would be a serious mistake. Think of school and work something to build your life on (not your identity or self-worth), like a stepping stone to other locations, jobs, other "you"s.
edit: What you say about people just being interested in other people's job and social status reminded me of this quote from The Little Prince:
Grown-ups are very fond of numbers. When you tell them about a new friend, they never ask you the kind of questions that should be asked, such as: “What kind of voice does he have?” “What are his favourite games?” “Does he collect butterflies?” Instead they ask: “How old is he? How much money does his father earn?” They really do imagine this is the best way to discover what sort of person he is!’

ok so i live in Chicago, obviously a big city and not what you’re looking for, but it’s surrounded by the midwest you’re talking about and there is tons of it to wander through but i hesitate to say it might not be as romantic as it seems haha. and i loved true detective season 1 so i hear you on the vibes in that. but certainly plenty of dive bars and probably spooky churches! maybe traveling around the state of Indiana would work?
Well I’m not from the Midwest, but I’m from Louisiana, the same state as New Orleans! 😂 I would recommend coming here, we have the very rural type of area you’re looking for and also some slightly bigger cities. If you want to see some of the country side you’ll love it here!

I also sometimes hate it when people ask about my work. And whenever I get to know people, I love asking deeper questions, like what music do you vibe with, or what are your goals? Aspirations? Just like you, I love to separate what a person truly likes from what society expects of them because its only a job.
However, personally speaking, I think its also important to decide what it is you want from life. Not in a selfish way, but what you really aspire to have or become as a human being. I know you're still very young, so it doesn't have to be decided now, but something to explore for your future. At the end of the day, we may be free to dissassociate from our job, family, or other ideas, but we are also molded by ideas in the end. We have to make decisions and our thoughts and feelings influence others. That's what makes us human. The sense of who we are may be social but its still significant. We are social beings. As much as I love "free-floating" thinkers like Watts or Krishnamurti -- I really love them BUT -- considering what's going on in the world these days, I think a more relevant thinker by the name of James Baldwin said it best:
"You have to decide who you are and force the world to deal with you, not its IDEA of you."

I know krishnamurti, ive listened to quite a few of his talks. He definitely speaks truth, even if it comes off a bit harsh sometimes lol. Not sure if you've heard of or listen to Thich Nhat Hanh. He did a beautiful interview with Ram Dass thats well worth listening to and he has so many of his own teachings on yt. Eckhart Tolle is another good one. Ramana Maharshi, although he didn't speak very much has so much to offer. There are so many, choose your favorite flavor of truth. Also if you or anyone else knows of more like them I'd love to learn about them. Sometimes I feel like I can't consume enough of these teachings
