⭐⭐ How to be FAST: czcams.com/video/2nYpugwNWNs/video.html ⭐⭐
I like going into the “free roam” part, it’s great training. You can practice all types of stuff, and figure out how to take corners with even only just the throttle, with throttle control. Or just the throttle and clutch, and figure out the difference between clutch, handbreak, and gearing down affect the car. You can get so good with that stuff you can make full on “gymkata” edits😅. Try doing a continuous drift around a power pole for example, keeping the nose of the car real close to it. Stuff like that REALLY helps when you’re in the game, because you can’t consistently practice that anywhere else.
Thanks for the tip! 😁
You're absolutely right i spend loads of time in there just racing around learning to control the car .
This game looks and sounds amazing... can't wait to get a copy..
It’s hard but a load of fun 🙂
Definitely hard to get use to, but it gives me Colin McRae feels.
Just getting through a Stage cleanly is an achievement sometimes 😄
The biggest tip I could give anyone is just to get into Time Trial and just suck. Suck, crash, laugh, restart and try again, repeat until you start to get the hang of it. The moment you absolutely nail a corner is a reward worth the time imo :)
That's how most of us learn 🙂
TIP: Every time i get a new car I just go and drive it on dirtfish (free roam) to know how car reacts, brakes on different surfaces etc... Also sometime it is better to have manual sequential than automatic, because only you know what are you going to do, so what gear you need. Have a nic race fellaz :)
I downloaded this game for free, played for 20 minutes, felt like a loser... Quit
Start with the slow cars, you'll build up confidence 🙂
@@PJTierney I will let you know how that goes 😅
🤣 I feel your pain...
As an arcade racer I have it easier
for the 1st time ,yup i give up,then change my mind to use slow car ..nah i get the result now
Thanks! Best and most efficient tutorial on youtube for Dirt begginers!
Thanks 👍🏻
I'm making more videos now, enjoy 🙂
I just started playing DiRT Rally 2.0 and these tips actually helped me a lot. Thanks for this vid, man.
As a complete newbie your content is invaluable. I'm pleased if I finish an event even if I'm always last.
Thanks for the tips. Its my second day playing and I already know how to drive the Quattro without crashing. I got 2:13 in the 2 mile Spain stage with the Quattro.
Good job, keep it up! 👍🏻
This is a difficult game for sure.
I'm finding the rallycross events more fun as I learn how to drive in game.
There are lots of different techniques to master and they all apply in different situations. I agree it is very satisfying when you get it right.
Yup, when you get it right all the challenge is worth it 🏆
It’s really strange before I started playing Dirt Rally 2.0 I thought “what is the point in a co-driver” now I have actually started the season (in the low power car to learn it all) I realise the co-driver is the most helpful part of the game.
It’s not actually that hard a game, just take your time around corners until you get solid with the controls and then start hammering away at once you get a feel for it!
Exactly. Don't aim to be #1 right away, just get a little better every day and the pace will come 🙂
Thanks for the tips!
Great video! Dirt Rally 2.0 is a tough game and i was looking for some good tips on how to improve.
Thanks, keep at it 👍🏻
There's a Community Rally School thread on the DiRT forums too which is handy.
Thanks for these! I didn’t use the shakedowns before, but it’s a good tip. Even as a beginner in a Fulvia, it would’ve helped a lot to do a Shakedown the first time I entered Sweden, lol. Can’t wait to get better at this game.
Keep it up, you'll get there 👍🏻
When I first started doing shakedowns I didn’t realise there were any consequences, so it came as a bit of a shock when I had to pay for repairs after flying off a cliff at a hairpin.
Great videos and channel brother! You deserve more subscribers!
Thanks 🙂
Just doing my bit to add some value to those that care about racing and games 😇
Right now is my second day playing this thanks dude
Ratrid 52 Enjoy 🙂
These tips helped a lot, plus my past experience with DiRT 3 & 4. Now I’m amazing at this game! A tip I have is that you need to break early when coming to sharp corners, because you can’t brake and turn at the same time, unlike Forza or The Crew. (both of those games are great too.) hope this helpsb
Yup, brake early and yank the handbrake to swing the car round if you need to on slow corners.
nice video! can't wait to play!
It’s a hard game but the feeling when you get it right is great 😎
One thing I noticed that isn’t explicitly mentioned here (but is hinted at with shakedowns & time trials) is to get to know the level. Those with the high scores don’t just have the advantage of experience and technique, they also really *know* the stage to get those fast times.
I tried to start playing dirt rally 2.0, im not really good at it but because of this video i have more confindence and i think im gonna do just fine. Thank you for the advice it was very helpful to me and definetly to others
I'm glad I could help 🙂
I have an updated version, check the link in the description.
Great video👍🏼
Thank you 🙂
I was wining the first championat with Lancia HF, the lowest car of all, i did so well that i buyed directly the Audi quattro moster, after losing all my money on reparations i didnt menage to use the quattro properly, now my confidance is in shit i'm not as fast as i were in my lancia ! This game is Dark souls of racing games !!! Love it !
Keep at it 👍🏻
I started playing it yesterday and beat first category easily and got to Clubman. So I decided to buy a car and chose the Mitsubishi Lancer X, the thing is... The AI is much faster in Clubman and while my car is also fast I can't seem to control it at all. I'm destroying it every race and burning money to keep it afloat.
What do you recommend? Should I sell it and get a slower car or should it just try tuning it until it "clicks" and I start to perform better?
The order the Classes are displayed in is generally an order of speed, with the exception of Group B.
If you were in H1 FWD initially, move up to H2 FWD. Once that feels good, go to H2 RWD.
Try out the other Classes in Custom or Time Trial for now, as practice 🙂
@@PJTierney If anyones reading this:
Dont go to H2 RWD
RWD is really hard to control. Stick with FWD for a while
What you should do is:
H1 FWD -> H2 FWD -> R2 -> Group A (to get used to AWD cars)
from then on you can play either more AWD cars or move to RWD (H2 or H3)
punishing is an understatement, I've been playing this game on and off for almost a month now and always discouraged, I haven't started playing the real game only a few time trial runs with different cars to feel the physics first. learn how to drift corners without ebrake and not stalling while sliding, after a few hours, couple hundres of crashes and a few how tos about hairpins and you become a beast though
intercitty Keep at it, you’ll get there 🙂 A few months ago I essentially had to learn the game all over again as I started using a wheel for the first time. I was awful the first few days but now I’m faster than I was on a pad (and I was already quick on a pad) 🙂
Within a week I’m smashing the leaderboards with a controller, HUD off, Sequential-Man, no TC or SC. Or ABS for that matter. Like COD’s hardcore mode but in a game that’s Deserving. Defo need to get some videos posted of some of my runs!
Good stuff! 😎
Another tip I would give is to use one of the front camera angles to know where the corner is
I use the bonnet camera now, feels just about right. 🙂
I'd also recommend playing around with the tuning settings to get a feel for how each setting affects your car's handling, for example *Toe In* and *Toe Out* - go with a default tune and then take *one* setting and maximize it or minimize it and run a short course to see what it does.
Also, before starting a difficult championship, check out the details of each particular race so you have a better idea of what's coming and how to prepare; being in the middle of a championship is _not_ the time to learn how to drive in wet conditions :v
Checking ahead is a good idea, especially for rain in Spain 😉
Do you play with a steering wheel, controller or keyboard?
Nice work and love ur vids
I play on an Xbox One Elite Controller. 😎
Something that might not make you faster, but I recommend turning off the visual pace notes so you don't develop a visual reliance on them.
Yup, I cover that in my guide on how to be fast 🙂
If you playing this game u have to go to menu, options, and set Gearchange to manuell because if its automatik u can never stay in 1 gear around a corner and the game is much harder to play. Learn to shift right, shift before a corner and then brake, set turn in, and go fullgas after the corner. In the first place the numbers 1-6 gives u advice in which gear u can take the turn, later on u will become better and can shift higher above, so maybe instead of 3left closes und drive which gear 4 half throttle through...
That’s a good tip, manual gears help a ton and aren’t hard to learn 👍🏻
I know im little late to the party but im not crazy about car games, after all I don't even have a car. BUT my god is this game something. I think I find myself my new souls game and I love souls game
This game is something special; from talking to hundreds of players over the past few years that's a common trend in how they talk about the game.
I can't recall but what do the numbers mean you see on screen. By that i mean the 30, 50 etc etc. Sometimes they after corner angles are called
I would recommend turning off all assists from the start. Learn to hear your co driver without on screen prompt. Make sure ABS and other driving assists are off too. Slightly more difficult to start, but easier when you learn how.
Are you maddd??
@@hanstonra Hahahaha--it seems that way.
@@hanstonra Jon Armstrong gave me that advice. It is actually easier after you get used to it. You can focus on the road while just listening--instead of reading the pace notes. With ABS on and other assists--the car doesn't drive right IMO.
He's not wrong though, a training wheels off approach does get you more in tune with the car. it's harder to start but can produce better results.
Can you make a video about the setup of the car? E.g. i would like to improve the front grip in slow corners with a little overstearing but still a stable car in fast corners. Looking for a setup of the Fiat Abarth.
Many thanks for sharing.
You got a new follower!
Thanks for the follow 🙂
I’m not an expert at tuning (especially off-road tuning) but if I learn enough things along the way I’ll share some notes.
it pays to learn the weight transfer and tuning things as they are shared across games. What you are basically achiving with suspension tuning is the same as on track what happens if you let go of gas or slam down on it: you shift weight and grip around.
More weight on front: more grip at front, less at back. Tuning is moving it around.
Stiffer springs can handle less weight and shift it over to less stiff springs so if your car understeers ,stiffen up rear ARB and suspension and you have more grip up front.
Camber usually is tuned by monitoring tyre temps and pressures to make sure entire tyre heats up evenly.
Toe adjust wether wheels form an A shape or V shape. A shape makes the turning sharper but makes it less stable. V shape makes it more stable but harder to turn.
Differential, I dont have a clue I guess it does some magic spinny things with gears or something?
Yup, weight transfer is important. Suspension tuning makes it easier but it’s important to know *where* you want the weight to be at various phases of a corner before tuning to encourage that behaviour.
Hi pj
How are you ? What do you think of WRC 9 or 10 ?
I'm good 🙂
I haven't played either game but I've spoken to a lot of players about it. They do some things better than DiRT, and some things not so much but seem like good games.
Omg! I love this game ps plus btw! (This is so hard ;-;)
Keep at it, you'll get there 🙂
great video thanks :), i have 2 questions . List signs> R3
100
What it means?
what is the best wheel rotate for this game ?900? 360? 520?
> it means that turn is narrowing and < that it is opening. So it's easier if it is opening you can go faster and opposite in narrowing ones.
Number are the distance between turns. So 50 means that there is 50 meters from first turn to another
Kondi got it right.
Also, wheel rotation, whatever you are comfortable with. I use 360.
What about breaking vs handbrake? What should I do?
It’s largely dependent on the car and the type of corner but what I tend to do is brake in a straight line, and then handbrake to swing the car round for the corner.
Mainly use it on Hairpins.
@@PJTierney do you handbrake while on the throttle or purely handbrake I just bout the game and I'm getting used to the physics I play arcade racers like forza and need for speed so a racing sim is very different the cars in those games are like tanks compared to this i can drift and power slide with minimal effort worh this you have to be self aware of the break hand break the throttle your co driver the track its alot on your senses
It's a lot to take in, I agree. I'm a Forza veteran too and DiRT Rally 2.0 can be exhausting at times 😅
The approach varies as I said before, but this is one way for me to go about it:
Approach hairpin on outside line.
Brake hard, downshift to 2nd.
Release brake, pull handbrake and steer hard into corner.
Once the car's rotated, full throttle, correct your angle and power out of the corner.
♥️❤️
How do you change your car in career mode? I have purchased several cars but can’t seem to find the option to change it! I’m still with the Lancia.
If you’re in a Championship you need to finish it before switching cars.
How do i not slide alot in the other race vs AI? I cant even a turn a simple corner without sliding off too much.
Sliding is a part of rallying, and often the fastest way around a corner on gravel.
If you want to slide less there’s a few things you can do, but the simplest would be to brake in a straight line and not turn until you’ve slowed down enough.
As for racing vs AI, Rallycross cars are meant to slide. You will need to learn and understand about countersteering and how to control a slide.
Sadly that’s a topic too complicated for a simple CZcams comment, but if you check out the DiRT Rally Tutorial Videos (the first game had videos teaching you how to Rally) that will help. The rest comes with practice.
PJ Tierney Oh i see. So the cars slide no matter what even on asphalt race tracks? I thought i could change that by tuning my car.... Im slightly better on dirt rally but vs AI i lose immediately after the first turn lol
If you look at real FIA World Rallycross events they’re throwing those cars around. They’ve got so much power and grip that the best strategy tends to be to drift it round the corners since you can just floor it on the exit and the car will hook up.
I haven’t done much Rallycross yet in DiRT Rally 2.0 but I hear the AI drivers are pretty strong on some tracks compared to others.
@@PJTierney Yeah I'm getting used to drifting around now haha. On the other hand I play ForzaM7 and no car wants to turn! lol
Can you do also a guide of WRC 9? another rally game but that is quite different
I haven't played WRC9, got enough racing games on the go 😅
@@PJTierney Ok. I'd love to see that. I can be quick in the game but I crash endlessly. Do you have a tio on how to stay concentrated? I drive with a clean screen but I just lose focus
@@galdror9001 I try to find a few things to concentrate on, like listening to the co-driver.
@@PJTierney Trying. He sometimes reads the corbers wrong, or too late
That's a problem at Scotland, I know. 😣
hi I just got the and it is GREAT but a hand full to drive it is a lot harder than the first game Dirt Rally more realistic and harder to control
Yup, it's not easy. Keep at it though and you'll feel at ease 👍🏻
Whats the number before the turns mean?
The number indicates how tight a corner is. A 6 is nearly straight, a 1 is nearly a hairpin.
Well. I maybe gonna break something when I finished downloading this game and played it
The road to success is littered with broken rally cars 😉
Also drive like you own it not like you stole it.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Yeah, i wanna learn, but i started doing the races, and i felt like a looser because i couldn't make a right turn and i would spin out, or take it too slow and ill see everyone else pass me and ive felt like quitting, im just tryna understand like when to slow down and when to accelerate and how to drift, shat gear i should be in how fast or slow and its a lot to soak in for a beginner especially a beginner at racing games that are realistic, ive just playes mario kart for about 2 years and i have to take everything i learned from that and apply it in reverse, i cant slam the gass through corners i cant drift as easily and i can go into a corner at full speed and not spin out
I have a second Beginner's Guide video that might help. The most important thing, listen to your co-driver.
@@PJTierney im playing on controller (this is my first time trying out sim racing of any sort) and i finally beat the computer at a race, that actually helped out a lot, i stopped looking at the signs and just listened and i won, (ive played for 3 days and i havent won) and if i do start investing a lot of time i to this game i might have to start saving up for a wheel and pedals, than you so much
This game is free on PS PLUS this month! Go grab yourself a copy!
No excuse not to play now 😎
Are you playing with a Controller or a Wheel?
In all of my videos so far I play on an Xbox One Elite Controller.
I have a Fanatec wheel setup that I plan on getting used to soon 👍🏻
@@PJTierney Nice, I have a wheel but honestly I'm just way to Bad when I'm using the wheel so I just stick to a controller even though I really wanna play with the wheel
@@glmn.visuals It was quite difficult for me to transition from a controller to a wheel aswell. Something that helped me a lot was to reduce the wheels turning degree to 540, which seems to be what most rally cars use anyways.
It's a ton more fun to drive with a wheel, you just need to get in there and practice!
@@M18_CRYMORE Thx for the tips, I appreciate it
what is that number for like 30 with an underline
I assume you’re referring to the pace notes.
A number with a line under it and no arrow is the distance between 2 calls.
A 50 for example means there’s 50 metres between the previous corner and the next one.
It’s to help you gauge how much time you have coming out of a corner to either get the car straight again or line up the next turn.
PJ Tierney thanks
I've not managed yet to take a single corner and not crash.
It feels like it's uncontrollable.
I'm using a Xbox One controller. Should I change the sensitivity?
Well I watched some more instruction videos and gave it another try. Seems like half of the steering is done by playing with the throttle. Starting to enjoying it now.
Luckily my real life car is not so difficult to drive.
Sorry for not getting back to you earlier but glad you figured it out 🙂
Steering with the throttle is important especially on a controller. In FWD and AWD cars you’ll want to ease off the throttle a bit to give the front tyres more grip for turning, and in RWD you can gently add or reduce rotation with a similar method. It takes time to get your head around it.
@@PJTierney Hi! I really got into it and bought a g29 wheel! I was never that much into car racing before but now I play in VR and it's the most fun I ever had in a game! (I'm 40) I'm playing this and Project Cars 2.
@@vandorpemichael It's great isn't it? 😄
Download the game for free. The game needs a tutorial mode
None planned in-game, but there are videos on the official channel that offer tips.
It's currently free on ps plus. I wonder if its really worth downloading 😂. I dont want to download a 90gb game just to go suck at it. I only have a controller 😭
It's fine on a controller, I even have settings available in another video 👍🏻
Played for 3 days , now am f legendary level
Good stuff, keep at it 👍🏻
Can i be good on controller?
Yes.
Is a mic so expensive
This video is a year old, check the latest videos on the channels if you want to listen 😉
2:37 he fucking drove over a baby duck......
😮
I want this game so bad, but I don't know how to use a manual.
Instruction manual? Just read 😀
Manual gears, honestly don't worry about them too much when you start out, auto is fine.
@@PJTierney you a nut lol. But naw I was do it on a wheel and stuff. Because I actually want to get the feel on what's it like to be a rally driver.
@@javierteel-dupree9060 : Upshifting is easy, just shift when the needle is at redline or the number on the gear indicator turns red.
Downshifting, you want to do it when the needle is about halfway, though that's vastly oversimplifying things.
@@PJTierney Then there's how to downshift from 6 gear to 2 gear if a turn coming up. And how to use the clutch and gas together. Do you use your left foot for braking as well? I've seen multiple people doing it that way.
@@javierteel-dupree9060 : I'm left-foot braking, no clutch pedal.
It was so tough I deleted the game only 🤣
F
Cant play this game with keyboard
I'm afraid I don't have any keyboard tips, but I do know one or two drivers who are faster than me with one.
@@PJTierney I don’t know if there is a setting which i need to change or something but I couldn’t make it work, thanks for your reply
2:40 this corner is awful >.
Tricky one indeed.
here because its free on ps plus...
I imagine you’re not the only one 🙂
Have fun with the game 👍🏻
@@PJTierney i am enjoying the game so far ..😁
What’s this? Don’t you have a voice?
Go check the official DiRT channel, you may see me there 😉
many like to hear people explain so you lost me I hate reading.
Fair enough, sorry it wasn't to your tastes. May look into commentary in future 🙂
If you feel confident since you have played almost all motorsport games............ HA sucks for u (cant relate whatsoever)
I have a ton of racing game experience, yes 😅
The fundamentals don’t change however. Start slow, don’t go full beans until you’re confident, and pay attention when you mess up, so that you can diagnose what you’re doing wrong.
Seriously if I wanted to read text I would just look it up on Google not CZcams
Thanks for the feedback.
@@PJTierney I appreciate that you are adding text in your video. I'm Deaf and I always have to turn on auto-generated/auto-translate subtitles - they are not always reliable.
@@espressoguy1 Glad it's helping you 🙂
These take a long time to do and I may be experimenting more with voiceover in the future, but I'll keep captioning in mind for videos where I can support it.
There are 3 things that piss me off in Dirt Rally 2.0. The unfairly high difficulty in the career mode, the ridiculous prices on upgrades and repairs on every car and the physics of the cars feel so unrealistic. I’m on the verge of uninstalling the game from my PS4 because I’m not really enjoying this game anymore.
Tip 1: get Dirt rally 1
Tip 2: Enjoy a better game
I went back to it for some Pikes Peak last week, still holds up 😎
