Wish they had sold these D5 in North America. Looks like it was a great engine for sure. Be sure to check ALL serpentine belt pulleys on these D5 (alternator, compressor & tensioner). It wraps around the crank pulley and kills the engine when it fails (only on the D5). ABS/Anti-Skid light is very common on these, not ABS sensor, most probably a yaw or clockspring sensor, or even just a cracked reluctor ring.

@@BarrieCrampton Barrie, that's what all salesmans say (unfortunately). But that's not the real life because you guys are not mechanics and also of course you need buyers to think they are buying a gem. All I'm saying is just to warn potential buyers about what to check on these cars so they don't get into bigger problems. Same for the AWD system which almost always goes bad and cost a lot - but usually it can still drive in FWD

They really should have made the 3rd row seats removeable. Theres probably a load of people like myself who never need to ferry more than 2 or 3 passengers and would thoroughly appreciate being able to offload all the weight and extra machinery that in most SUVs never gets used!

I bought a 2005 Volvo XC90 I’m having an issue rn were the car will turn off after running for a bit. It starts again perfectly fine after waiting a couple min but it keeps doing that. There isn’t any weird noises coming from the engine. Turns on perfectly fine it’s just that turning off issue. You have any idea what it could be?

  • @tellyonthewall8751

"wheel wobble" .. it's kind of normal .. not "wobble" (wheel balance issue) ... but "kind of loose steering wheel" but nothing loose I'd say ... living in a country with R.H.D. and elevation issues on 4 lane roads from x (depending where you live but about 100 m) to 2.000 m in between Vulcanic made mountains (and very curvy road guidance ) ... knowing my fellow engineers here in road constructions they try to get the elevations and angles to fit 90 km/h .. hi hi have to say my 2014, XC90, D5 AWD makes no issue driving the roads at 110 km/h on cruise control .. I just have to steer the car .. and NO ISSUE what so ever, solid as a rock, even at the 180 degr, turns they make here on the highway (they put up signs like 50 or 60 km/h but 110 kmh is bringing me safe and secure (because it is the VOLVO XC 90) through the turn .. not even reveal the "edge of the envelope" yet .. OK OK a little sound from the tires, but not "the slip sound" ... driving YOKOHAMA SUV tires ... 235/60 x 18 .. them or MIchelins SUV again .. hi hi know Yokohama and Toyo tires .. in the late 70 start 80 to get the VOLVO 240 serious quiet in the steering wheel .. because of their "loose" / weak front wheel suspension

They are notorious for the diffs going, and its about £1500 to repair, i would check the tyres to make sure they arent worn and castellated and the source of the wine, could also be a wheel bearing, but id bet it was the Diff myself
