Thanks for watching! The full timelapse of the descent down Angels Landing is pretty cool, so I've uploaded it to Adventure Know-How as a bonus video for members 👍
At my age (79), and condition, I could not come close to following you on your adventures. But I really appreciate you providing your audience the opportunity to vicariously live them with you on videos that I think are very well produced, including the narration. Looking forward to seeing more and more. Great job!!! Be safe. 😅
I did this hike in 2015. As a 62 year old (at that time) with joint, muscle, and balance issues, it was a challenge. On the narrow ridge portions, I had to often get down and crawl on hands and knees. It took me 3 1/2 hours to get up as I recall, and about the same to limp back down. Worth it? Hell yes! Thank you for the video. 👍
Wow, glad I didn't try it at 68, but watching is great for me to enjoy.
@@victoriamaaske7420 If you liked this video, you may enjoy the Angels Landing video by Poultron, who documented every step. It is the video that inspired me to do the hike.
I'm so glad that you did that amazing hike up to Angel's Landing so that I never have to. It looked terrifying to me!
It's not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it! Thanks Helen.
I agree with you both lol.
Lol exactly!!
I was in Zion for one day. Did this hike without prior huge experience. Isn't that hard at all, just keep your pace and stay safe
yep - got vertigo watching it!
Tristen, without a single doubt, this is amongst the most spectacular footage you have ever shown me, your fans, or for that matter, you have ever recorded. I'm 72 years old now and will never try that hike due to my age and increasing issues with vertigo that have been brought on by age. Also, I appreciate your efforts to visit these sites when there is less of a crowd of people. I'm not sure I understand why, but for me, so many people detract from the outdoor experience and add to the Disneyesque-like atmosphere. I guess it just boils down to the fact that the world is just too crowded for me LOL...
I went to Zion in May a couple of years ago. The main canyon was so insanely crowded that I didn’t even bother. I had a really nice time in the Kolob section. The drive in in the Mt. Carmel highway was incredible as well. It was blocked by a rockslide when I needed to leave so I drove around and then circled back East at cedar city. This led me to discover the plateau and lava fields north of Zion which are a whole other brand of awesome. Basically the entire southern half of the state is incredible. I don’t know how anyone who lives there gets anything done.
I'm glad I got most of the main canyon stuff done years ago before it got too crowded. Though I still wanted to check out the hidden canyon hike. Best thing to advise is weekdays and get there when it opens. I'm a morning person, so not a problem.
@@jimmym3352 by all accounts I’ve read winter is the only time it is not overloaded now, and even then you have to start popular hikes early. I think eventually they will have to have a reservation system just to enter the park.
@@jimmym3352 I just looked up the visitation stats. December visitation increased from 70k in 2010 to 170k in 2019. This past December it was it was 230k. The big bump last year was probably from the pandemic.
I would be out and about every day if I didn't have to work. I live in Cedar City. We could live in Cedar Breaks.
@@virginiaallen4723 yeah I think the growth of St. George contributed to the explosion at Zion. Lots of locals making repeat visits. I certainly would if I lived there.
Getting close to 80 years now, so your hikes are a wonderful way to get to places we probably would never attempt. That said, Zion is one of our favorite haunts, we did the river walk about 20 years ago and look forward to seeing the ghost town on our next trip. Thank you for taking us with you.
I've been up Angels Landing 3 different times when I was young and strong. Each time was terrifying and I had a hard time understanding how the park allows anyone up there considering the litigious nature of the world.
What an amazing trail!! My knees got a little rubbery when you hit the top! Thanks sooo much for taking us along!!
My brother who not an experienced hiker did this once and was totally amazed and terrified. John died this year and I’m missing him so much this first Easter without him . Thank you,Tristan, for posting this now and bringing him close today. You have a gift for taking us along on your adventures and sharing them in such a kind accessible way.
Betsy, So sorry for the loss of your brother. My condolences to you and your family
@@matthewh3528 Thank you Matthew.
So sorry to hear......I lost my sister this past year to a brain tumor....she did Angel's Landing before I did and convinced me that I needed to go to Zion and do it too!
@@vickitatum540 I also lost my husband to a brain tumor. I am so sorry for your loss. How wonderful that you and your sister had that shared experience of Angel’s Landing.
Oh my, so much loss...
Very appropriate tone throughout the whole video: dangerous places... in your car you said "something mortals can do" and I started laughing out loud for real... to prove they are mortals? you cracked me up!!! when your camera dropped I gasped! By far the best video I have watched of Angels' landing (and I have watched a ton!) I think I have completely scratched that hike out of my bucket list... do not want to kick the bucket there for sure! although as you very well pointed out: it wouldn't hurt for too long, LOL OMG, so many funny comments rushing through my mind. And then you kept going with the decimation of the crops and the little cemetery at the end. You could say this is a very existentialist video! What did I like best? The whole thing, one of your best for me. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for filming this. It’s the first one I’ve watched that made me realize I’ve missed my chance. Too old and off balance for this one. Other videos fooled me into thinking I could do it. Yours was reality. Thank you, I felt like I was there with you. Would love to see you do the Narrows.
No no, it's not a bad hike. Its actually wayyy easier than people make it out to be. There's so many kids doing Angel's Landing
😎👍 Thanks for bringing us along on your hikes!
From someone scared of heights and who suffer from vertigo, who will never do these hikes, thanks for the point of view shooting.
two years ago, these old people (80s) hiked the river walk - it was truly lovely and easy. We admired Angels' landing from afar! thanks for taking us along, Tristan!
I hiked to the top of Angels Landing three days ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. And I'm two months shy of 74. I first became aware of the climb last February from Tristan's excellent video. Over the last year my wife and I have become big fans of his adventures which I usually watch while walking a treadmill. And was sufficiently inspired by them to take a trip out west this summer. The week before going to Zion we drove down the Shaffer Switchback and entered the White Rim Trail for three days of camping and sightseeing. I want to say the hike looks a lot scarier on video than it actually is. Remember, you are not being sent to your death by the park rangers. The trail is sufficiently safe if you don't do anything stupid. The chain is placed where you need it. Watch where you step so you don't trip or get your foot stuck between rocks. Eat a good meal prior, bring at least a gallon of water, wear hiking boots or sneakers and stay on the trail. Do not go up or down the steep sections with the chain like you would walk a stairway. When going up face the rock. When going down do the same. That is, repel down using your arm strength. Trust yourself and good luck.
When I taught school in St. George, I'd take my kids hiking in Zion weekly in the off season. The best hike is The Narrows. Either direction is awesome. A side hike to Orderville Canyon is a must. The hike down from Kolob is another incredible hike and can be done in a day. After the hike don't miss a meal at the Bit and Spur. Best Mexican food outside of Mexico!
Over a period of decades I spent time doing many backpacking trips into Zion and exploring many of the canyon systems. The places there are so spectacularly beautiful it is like you are transported to another dimension. The adventures I had there are among my most cherished memories. Thanks for showing us this; it was over 35 years ago I did Angels Landing and it is still as beautiful as I remembered.
Great video!
FYI for viewers - The Kayenta Trail is a nice option if the Angel’s Landing heights freak you out. It starts in the same place (the Grotto), gets you up 100-200 feet above the valley floor and meanders south along the west wall of the canyon. It eventually ties into all of the various Emerald Pools Trails and will dump you back out near the Zion Lodge along the Virgin River.
I dont think I can do this hike, my heart would drop to the bottom of the cliff. Thank you for amazing video and being so brave to go up there and filmed for us. You are always honest & sincere to watch.
"Then again you'd probably be dead before you felt anything so it isn't so bad..." LOL. Such a romantic...
Yes, .... definitely a "glass half full" kind of guy. 😂
It’s not the long fall, it’s the sudden stop.
I did the first bit of chained trail, but chickened out before the knife edge. Even so, the hike and views up to that point are amazing and well worth it. Much respect for those who make the top.
As British people we were lucky to get numerous visits to ZNP in before Covid hit. We made it up to Angels Landing in August 2014, by which time we were already in our mid-50s. Watching this video makes me wonder how the hell we managed it. Not only were there numerous people but also a father had insisted on taking his terrified handicapped son up which was causing quite a few issues. We get a guy who was Chief of Police in Provo UT and had come over from Maryland to take up the post - told us all his stories of trying to get to grips with being a cop in UT where the whole station went to breakfast on Sundays. We were finished for the day after the hike so we're amazed you were done with Angels Landing before 10am! Hopefully we will get back one day if we're ever allowed, but we long since learned to visit other quieter places and state parks. One of our most memorable Zion visits was at night in a full moon. That was truly astounding. We recommend Observation Point as a terrific hike.
Someone just died recently there on angels landing. May she Rest In Peace
This is so gorgeous!! and there’s no way I could do this hike 😂
So beautiful! I've done this hike 3 times over the years. When you're on it, somehow it feels quite safe. It definitely looks scarier in the video!
I did NOT feel safe. But I do want to hike it one more time.
I never felt unsafe while I was hiking. The footing is solid the entire way. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another wonderful video adventure. Not going to lie, I had to close my eyes a few times watching this video. Thanks for sharing such spectacular footage with those of us who will never do this hike. I live in and enjoy the beautiful state of Utah and am trying to get to as many nooks and crannies as possible now I have the freedom of retirement. I was able to enjoy Zion back in the 70's while attending Dixie State College, long before Zion became overcrowded. Zion is one of the many places of breath taking beauty in our state. Grafton is a fun stop as well. Your videos are truly some of my very favorite, thanks again for sharing!
I'll stick to seeing Angel's Landing through other people's eyes (or camera, to be precise). Lol.
The palms of my hands and my feet were sweating just watching your footage.
This has to be my absolute favorite video you've done and you've done so so many beautiful videos!! All I can say is you have a big pair to do that first hike!! How magnificent!! Much respect!!
Thanks Deb!
I hiked Angel's Landing and The Narrows on consecutive days. Along with Skyline in Glacier NP, three of my most memorable hikes in North America. Thanks for sharing, Tristan.
Did The Narrows day after hiking the Angel's Landing. Ziploc bags are priceless to protect valuables like a phone and camera from getting them wet. Unfortunately, phone and canon cam took a dip😢.
Kudos to yo for bringing us along! At 66 a 2 time cancer survivor with chronic dizziness and skiers knees, I could never take this hike anymore. KUDOS too to the folks who lugged all that chain and posts up there. Hiking up there is dangerous. How about drilling all the holes and setting all those posts? Amazing work!
My all-time favorite hike! I've always said that this hike isn't dangerous at all if you are in good health and make good decisions. I also recommend to others all the time to try to complete the hike as late in the day as you can. This allows for the most beautiful light for capturing photos/video, the temperatures are cooler, and you also have far fewer people to contend with while traversing the chains. Awesome video as always!
Absolutely beautiful, and being honest to myself. that would be a no , not doing it . Glad i got to see it through your eyes. thank you
Loved the Angel’s Landing hike going up but it would have been nice to slow the camera while hiking down so that we could see more of the scenery. Always enjoy your hikes because it’s something I’ll never get to do in person because of my advanced age and health. Thank you for your knowledge and wonderful videos!
One of the great things of America is you can drive to warmer weather.
Very true!
Yes! There are so many American countries that have that feature available, I've done it in several myself. Also driving from one country to another if you want warmth in the winter.
@@arandomevent Living in Canada, driving for hours still going to get to places as cold or colder.
It is a great country with countless gorgeous National Parks and National Forests that have such diversity in flora and fauna.
"Guess you'd be dead before you felt too much pain..." I laughed out loud at that!
This hike must have been a piece of cake after previously climbing straight up that wall.
Well done!
It was much less strenuous, that's true 😁
It certainly lives up to its most dangerous tag, I can't help noticing that it looks scarier going down than up. The other hikes look fantastic too.
My wife and I did both of these when we were 69. Would love to go back. Your video is great ... good memories.
Done Angel's Landing twice. It's a great hike. I need to do High Line at Glacier and Half Dome at Yosemite.
When you dropped your camera I thought you were about to become #11😳.
Lol!
Great series of videos. Thanks for taking me with you, the best of several angels landing videos that I have seen. Thanks again I would never have gotten to these places on my own. Great work!
Great video!!! Love watching your hike. I am scared of heights, so probably would never attempt Angel’s Landing. Thank you for this amazing footage.
When I did it as an add-on to an ultra-distance trail run called, Zion Traverse (from one side of the patk to the other in one day), I came to Angels Landing mid-day. There were TONS of people and, as this is very narrow, and even the narrowest parts are two-way traffic, that might be were the real danger comes into play. Yes, definitely not for anyone with vertigo! Take your time. Be patient! Bring water. Wear appropriate shoes, not sandals or flip flops (saw some weirdos in those). For you, me, and those in halfway decent shape, it is definitely doable, but if one is not in shape, do your loved ones a favor and stay away from it, and only virtually attempt it by watching Tristan's video. 🙏😊
Thanks for including the Ghost Town as well. Really enjoyed that part of the video, too!
This was my first ever NP hike. I loved it and plan to go again within the next couple of years. Good episode.
Awesome hike/climb! This is one I'll have to live vicariously through you. I don't think I could handle those narrow parts near the top. I got a little dizzy just watching the video. And my heart skipped a beat, or two, when your camera fell. Logically I knew you didn't fall since you posted the video but still...
Thank you for having me along! I have been to Zion on a work retreat and can hardly remember where I went exploring. Members of my party did the Angels Landing hike but, at the time, I was too intimidated by the descriptions of it to join them. I did a short hike and then ate at a local restaurant that served a bacon and cheese encrusted pancake which was good. I want to take my wife there for at least the experience I had (and more). That ghost town was pretty cool. I love to be in places that tell our history. Thank you again.
September of 19 my wife and I rented bicycles at Zion Cycles. Free all day parking which was great. We rode to the park entrance and put the bikes on the front of the shuttle bus. Did the hike up to the narrows then biked all the back down to town with a stop at the lodge for lunch. We had a great time and I highly recommend it. Thanks for stirring up some great memories.
I proposed to my wife on top of Angel Landing, so this park and this trail has a lot of memory for both of us
Awwww, how romantic💓💕😊
When I reached the top, witnessed a wedding proposal in 2018. It was cool to watch❤
@@francesplazabashark7148 July 10th, 2016 for us i was so nervous because i did not know if she was going to complete the hike, and the large amount of people on the top.
The content lately has been 🔥🔥🔥 Oregon coast with a drone to this. 💪
That hike was a bit shocking. So many drop offs.
Omg at 71, I would
Never! In my 40’s probably, but with these old eyes looks incredibly scary . You take care to shoot, secure the camera, then walk; worried about the camera shot you give and you become distracted. Thank you ...STAY SAFE! utterlyAMAZING!!!!!
A nice combo of a challenging high hike and a peaceful flat walk. Great videos of all!
I enjoyed a return to Zion. Enjoyed that place as a child. We camped and wore the bottoms out of our bathing suits sliding on the rocks in the river. Went back a few years ago with my husband and just couldn’t believe the crowds of people ! You picked a good time to go.
Angel’s Landing is easily one of my favorite all time hikes. For anyone wanting to do it, I suggest riding a bike in at like 5am and to start hiking up in the dark to beat the shuttle crowds. You can rent a bike or pedal assisted e-bike nearby in Springdale. Sunrise on top of Angel’s Landing is AMAZING!
Great video as usual, Tristan!
I really want to do this hike, but i have a bad ankle that I’ve broken more than a dozen times so it’s very weak. Is it as hard going down as it looks? That’s what I’m worried about.
@@ivybrooks7963 It is not nearly as bad as it looks, but I would recommend bringing along trekking poles, especially for going down all of those relatively steep switchbacks before the “climbing” part starts. If used properly on the decent, you can take a lot of pressure off of your knees and ankles with trekking poles. I also put “climbing” in quotes because most of it is all kinda just like steps and the chains made me feel very comfortable.
It gets crowded early, making going down a fairly slow process, so you can take your time and take it easy on the ankle. The hike is incredible and a workout for sure with many switchbacks leading up to the actual chain section, but not as dangerous as some make it seem.
If you are in relatively decent shape, then I highly recommend grabbing some trekking poles (and a backpack you can store them in when you get to chains), wrapping that ankle up, and giving it a go! It’s amazing!
@@ManivanAdventures thanks so much for the info! I’m gonna go for it! Have a great day!
We went to Zion in mid-May of 2017. It was to warm and to crowded for us plus we travel with dogs so this wasn't going to work. We did eat our lunch in the shade by the stream near the parking lots and it was just far away sort of from the crowds. We left and went to the other side of Zion to the Kolob section and had a fine time (more elevation and a nice cooling breeze and way less people). We later went towards Cedar Breaks and saw Navajo Lake and snow alongside the road and lava fields.
Seeing you tubers doing Angels Landing is scary enough for me. When Bex the cat herder did it; the only way I was sure she survived was that she posted a video. When it’s crowded the chain people are using seems to offer very little as it gets jerked back and forth. Thanks for going and doing what I am clear I will never do.
Oh - NO! I just about 🤮 just looking at those drops!🙈 I give kudos to you for your courage. It’s almost the same feeling just looking, that I got on a roller coaster ONCE! Never again have I ridden one. So this type of hiking I guess is out for me?😂
Me, too!!! Seven minutes in, I almost quit watching because I felt so queasy. (I've hiked half dome twice.)
@@may-julymoney295 Half Dome on my bucket list. Cousin and I only made it to top of Vernal Falls and took JMT back to the valley.
@@francesplazabashark7148 Your shoes will be your best friends; make sure the tred will grip and not slide and that you can prevent blisters, etc. Might want a spare pair of socks? Bring enough water and start out EARLY (not 9 a.m. like I did the first time - it was dark climbing down from vernal falls). Respect the risks involved and may God be with you. :-)
Thank you for sharing this video. Brings back great memory. Hiked Angels Landing in 2018 and forgot to use gloves for those chains. Glad I did it!
Made me miss Zion. Both my favorite hikes. But you made it look so easy. I was holding my breath when I saw the chains. Another wonderful video. Thank you.
You were so fortunate to have almost nobody at the trail. When I did it, it was like the picture on the trailhead. You have to come down in the same trail , so that’s the problem. A lady was freaking out and she clogged the trail! I did 4 years it in my early sixties,, so most people can do it. Love your videos! LOVE UTAH AND ALL THE COLORADO PLATEAU!
I’m proud to say I’ve done this one. What an amazing experience!
Enjoyed drama of reaching Angel's Landing, then the relaxing exploration of the deserted historic village.
Angel's Landing 30 years ago on our honeymoon. My wife opted out of the last section. Definitely one of my most memorable hikes. We did it on Halloween so there was snow and ice in parts. That narrow canyon section was serene!
Thanks so much! Utah native “stranded” in the Midwest. Your great video made me homesick. Actually taking some friends to so. Utah in the fall. They’ve never been out west so this will be a great thing to share with them.
As always, I enjoyed the whole video, Tristan. Never been to Zion so especially liked seeing that up close. Rockville was very cool also. Thanks again!
Soon after my wife and I got married, we camped at Watchman Campground in Zion. I think that was in the late 70's. I remember that in the evening we walked around and picked cherries off the cherry trees - it was very romantic. Yes, the campground used to be in the middle of a cherry orchard. I think the trees are gone now.
Awesome views from the landing. And when you panned straight down the side I got a real sense of vertigo. Thanks for sharing.
I agree that if you’re not scared of heights Angel’s landing hikes is not dangerous if you pay attention and don’t do stupid things like selfies on the edge on top. Yeah, I did the Half Dome hike last year and halfway up the cables where you have to step up a thick slab I really got scared for my life but managed to pull myself up. It’s one of the scariest hikes I’ve done.
I've done Angels landing 3 or 4 times. It literally gets busier each time I do it - as the whole park has steadily increased it's visitation over the years. I think at some point it will become a permit hike, like Half Dome in Yosemite. I'd think you'd be able to hike to the overlook, but the chains section would be the permit part.
Thank you for sharing. This is the best video explaining the entire angels landing hike that I’ve seen on CZcams. If you are thinking of doing this hike and are not sure., this is the one to watch. Great job!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks for taking us along on that hike. The views were awesome! Not sonething I would ever do. Good for you!
Thanks for watching, Linda!
I loved doing Angel's Landing! The worst part was trying to navigate the trail and the chains with absolute hordes of people all trying to pass each other and hold on to the chains at the same time.....that was the terrifying part...It was great to see your video of Angel's Landing without the crowds. Thanks!
You sure do a lot in a day! Thanks for taking me along.
Gotta make the most of the time I have!
Highly recommend doing "the narrows"... really amazing hike through and along the river. Went in late October couple years ago. Mid- week it was a little busy but not overly crowded.
Zion was incredible! Good memories. 🙂 thank you!
We have been to Zion many times since 1987. I really love that park, but I'm afraid it is now way too crowded for us. We are glad to have seen many State & National parks in the 1980's and on before they became so crowded. Nowadays we just drive to out-of-the-way off the beaten path places where there are no or very very few people. We enjoy your videos very much and relive many of our memories reminded to us by you!
Thank you Tristan.
I do the same most of the time!
I've done this hike 4 times over the years, first time at age 26, last at age 64 or so and it looks scarier on videos than it is in person. The stretches with cables are fine if you do not have inordinate fear of heights and take your time. The biggest danger is the rude hikers who hog the cables and make it dificult to pass. Take your time and you will have a great time on a hike that is not too difficult and has great views.
The best depiction of the trail I have seen.
Thanks T, Being 74 & traveled, hiked & camped extensively without having made it to ZNP, I appreciate you having checked it off my bucket list. Wow what a climb up Eagle's ridge!
Thanks again ~
(Angle's?)
One danger you didn’t mention is lightning. My campground neighbors went up in beautiful weather. They got to the top as the the first thunder arrived and then nearby lightning. They are, of course, holding onto the metal chain part of the time. Then heavy rain...9 people died in a flash flood thru the Narrows that afternoon. Every ravine on the trail had its own waterfall. They ducked under most w’falls as most shot out into space. They didn’t get electrocuted and they didn’t get washed off the cliff. There’s a bridge by the largest campground, with water higher than the underside of the bridge span. They got back to their campsite next time to discover they had left their car sunroof open partway. They had pitched their tent in a 2” deep ravine...everything was soaked. I entered Zion from the east. It was the only time in my life that I really wanted a convertible. Or bike.
Hazard: the NPS required a canyoneering safety presentation. In 2013, it was offered only in the morning. The 9 hikers who died that day went to the safety thing, then started hiking in the afternoon. Summer rains (cloudbursts) tend to be in the afternoon...best to do safety, then hike uphill or read a book, but go canyoneering the next morning. Great video!
When the camera fell over, my heart skipped a beat. Gorgeous formations and views, thanks for the hike so I won' have too.
I've been on the lower trail back in the 90's. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!
Zion National Park is just amazing and has the best trails I have ever seen. Great film ;-)
Funny thing. My old hiking shoes started to fall apart hiking up the trail. So I stopped at Scouts lookout. Didn't even try continuing up to Angles Landing with broken shoes lol. We camped in beautiful Zion canyon 3 nights. It was about 100 degrees so we chilled in the river. Great relief. Hiked up the narrows wearing shorts. Fun times😉
I was at Bryce Canyon on a 25 degree morning with the wind gusting close to 50mph, 3 days after a big snow. The ice crystals were like needles. I drove from there to Zion, did the Virgin River hike, the temperature was close to 60 and I didn't see a Virgin the whole time. Walked down the river quite a distance. Elevation does make all the difference in temperature.
I enjoyed seeing the trail up to Angels landing. That's definitely a place I wouldn't see with my own eyes. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Canyoneering in Zion is awesome. Mystery canyon is a great way to avoid crowds in the park right up until you rappel down a waterfall into the narrows right into the touristy spot.
Thanks for the tour of the ghost town. I really enjoyed it ☺️. I have been to Zion but only rode the tram. I loved the tram ride since I don't hike. Thanks for the hikes. I enjoy hiking with you. You show me things I don't see since I don't hike. I have been to all 5 of the Mighty 5, but no hiking since I am 70.
Thank you for showing me something I'll never do!!!
One of my favorite SUV RVing videos. Thanks
How wonderful!! I’m planning my first trip ever to Utah later in the year and obviously Zion is on the list. Really appreciate your insights and suggestions for visitors of varying hiking abilities.
We spent one day a week in Zion from Feb through March 15. We like to drive up canyon. With limited hiking due to age, we like to walk the Sand bench Trail. We stop at Menu Falls. I walked the whole road in sections one year. Next time try finding the stairs along the road near the Grotto. Our favorite hike is Emerald Pools but it has been closed and now super busy. Bike the Parus Trail. Observation is another nice trail outside the tunnel. Would love to find the petroglyphs in that east area. Bighorn sheep are often sighted. Before the Weeping Rock area was closed due to a rockfall, Hidden Canyon. It is a trail that you would like.
So very cool! Great video of Angels Landing hike. You made it look so easy! Winter when you went looks to be a better time to go to avoid the crowds.
And finally a hike that I've also done! This brought back great memories. It was on my bucket list.
Interesting fact: Up until the "spine" part of the hike (which begins at sign at ~5:30 in the video) much of the trail is paved with concrete. The concrete prevents any more erosion for the very high traffic this trail endures.
Loved this! When I did it, the hardest part was making my way down from the top of Angel's Landing with all the human traffic going up, fighting for the chain and space to get down. I felt like, one little bump and over you'd go!
Nope nope nope!! Vertigo just from the video!! (Fantastic!)
Just did Angel’s Landing last week and it was already way busier than when you were there- I think the most nerve wracking part was just trying to strategically make room for all the one-way passing (including some traffic jams that took forever)! Incredible trail though- amazing how the NPS was able to make this hike (fairly) comfortable/accessible for the average person! Thanks for the great tour, as usual. I’ve been covering a lot of ground myself, and do a lot of photography, but I appreciate seeing your vids!
Also, that sign said 13 people died, as of last week. 3 in March then? Heard one of them was from hypothermia, got caught in a storm. Yikes.
@@amysanz One death in February and one in March. Deaths seem to be on the rise.

Hey Tristan...enjoyed your climb up Angels Landing...could never do it myself....afraid of heights as I get older....We did the Narrows in July a couple of years back, when the water was somewhat warmer....really neat in there as the canyon closes in on you....great pics in there!!!!And we went to Grafton many years back....still basically the same except for all the renovations...thanks for showing it again and for the memories....from Hank and Pam of South Texas
I went to Zion on a road trip with friends in 2016. The park is spectacular, even on the easy hikes like Emerald Pools and Weeping Rock, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for taking me along to see a beautiful new perspective of Zion!
I get goosebumps just thinking about Angels Landing. I've done the hike three times, and the third time was no less epic than the first. The first time I went to Zion, years ago, I didn't know anything about the park. But a friend said to make sure to go to Angels Landing. So I did, and it was the highlight of my visit. The second time I went, as I was admiring the scenery just a couple of feet away from one of the extreme vertical drop-offs, I began to have a strange sensation I had never felt before. I didn't know what it was, but somehow, in an instance, I recognized it as vertigo! I hit the deck so fast (on purpose) that I left my shadow behind. It scares me to contemplate what could have happened if I had not reacted instantaneously. I've done a lot of hikes over the years where there has been some degree of exposure. I am not afraid of heights. This was a one-time occurrence, never before and never since. Weird.
It's a shame they've had to resort to a permit system for the hike now. I understand why, but I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy it as much anymore.
You are just starting the scary part. My heart is in my throat just watching it through the camera! Beautiful but even scary to watch.
Thanks for watching!
