Season 1 Episode 5 "Damned If You Do"
Sister Augustine (Elizabeth Mitchell) arrives at the hospital with her hands covered in severe rash, which her fellow nuns think looks like stigmata and which House diagnoses as dermatitis caused by a dish soap allergy. When the antihistamines he gives her cause an asthma attack, House administers epinephrine, and she suffers a minor heart attack. An investigation of the convent reveals figwort tea, which explains only the reaction with the epinephrine. She is placed in a hypoallergenic room but inexplicably still has an allergic reaction. But when she begins shouting that she has God inside her, it allows House to find a copper IUD inside her uterus. The device is surgically removed and she fully recovers.

I love that house is so objective with principles. He might not like the outcomes of some decisions his team makes but he respects them when they stand by what they believe.
Or maybe it was just a jab at foreman
@@thisbevibhor I honestly do not believe that was a jab, I think he meant what he said.
@@thisbevibhor That wasn't a jab. It's called integrity.
Yeah. What was awesome was that House disagreed 100% with what Foreman did, but respected that Foreman did it. That takes strength of character.
Its not just that, he is considering that he himself may be wrong. That is a very rare thing. Most people believe they are right all the time, it is one of the fundamental steps of information analysis to completely reevaluate your hypothesis upon every new bit of information, since every hypothesis works with some assumptions, they can all become incorrect very quickly. Especially with handcrafted information built to deceive the analyst.
I love whenever chase enjoyes House's behaviour and goes 😃
You only really see this in early seasons sometimes I wonder if it’s the actor laughing
I think the progression of it becoming less to none in the later seasons shows Chase's progression into becoming House.
@@ameliarose47 Was that the reason why Cameron left Chase? Chase becoming like House
@@siniaura he didn't become like House, he basically became House 2.0
@@lewisbooth3917 he still does it plenty in the later seasons. the monster truck, the retractable wall ect lol
You know it's the first season when foreman has hair

@@colatf2 that's her point, it's the *first* season. You can tell because he has hair. Your point?
@@bgcanadianbacon6703 he doesn't get the joke. maybe it's lupus!

gotta love how House smiles when he gets taken off the case. He respects Foreman finally standing up to him and standing up for what he believes in.
7:39 Cameron once she finally got recognized by House: 🙂
*5 seconds later: 🙁
Hitting 2 with 1 stone
Well, I think House told her really good advice after all. He needed her to figth for her stands like Foreman did to be sure he can trust her.
@@piotreklaszczynski5398 I feel like that's hardly fair. House doesn't want people to argue with him or confront him, just to be extra sources of information he can bounce off of. Foreman stood up for himself and House basically said "Don't care, didn't ask, I'm right". Foreman had to go over House's head to get him to heel and even then he still spends all his time pursuing his own theories.
@@alexzander7629 what lol. House does want people to argue with him. He wants people who will stand up to him because he thinks conflict brings out the best ideas
@@Th3Gold3nB00m3r He doesn't though, he just says he does. "Standing up for yourself" isn't going to the boss of your boss to get him to listen to you. House wants people who will state points, attempt to sell them, and fall back when he decides they're wrong. HE regularly (even in this episode) tells people who provide different options they're wrong.
Needing to go to your boss's boss to get them to listen isn't "standing up for yourself", it's having a head strong boss with a superiority complex.
The ending of this clip is outstanding. He respects Foreman for turning him in, even though he still thinks he was right.
I mean he technically wasn't wrong, but yeah you gotta enjoy house using situations to teach a valuable hindsight.
In later episodes House trusts Foreman the most out of his team, even when he Foreman goes it alone and ends up killing a patient
Ok, there I was, in the clinic, drunk.... You know the rest))
Been there..
8.5 years later and this CZcams channel still goes strong :)
Because the episodes are still strong.

Obviously, they are making money with this.
House doesn't know, he would want his chunk otherwise.
“…5…4…3…2…1…”
“…So there I was in the clinic-drunk-I open the drawer, close my eyes, take the first syringe I can find…”
God, I love House lmao
that quote that last quote
"take a lesson from foreman stand up to what you believe"
that hit deep
Love how in the end House basically admits that Cameron and Foreman were right
Foreman was wrong, but he has the guts to take a stand on what he believes is right. Foreman's got the proper amount of stubborn: if he believes House is taking too big of a risk without proper reasoning, he'll try to stop it.
Cameron, on the other hand, gives in too easily. In later seasons, her unwillingness to hurt the patients' feelings and lie to them almost gets several patients killed, and this kindness has saved nobody. She's worse than Foreman because at least Foreman can make hard decisions.
"Basically"? No, expressly.
He doesn't care who was right, so long as he gets the answer he was looking for.
What is good for them to have considered patients feeling when they are dying or dead in the end. the job for the doctors are saving lives not looking out for them and consider there feeling after they are stabilized there health
House praising Foreman and dissing Cameron at the end is such a powerful lesson. Cameron was more right than Foreman( exactly right, in the end), but it didn't matter because she didn't stick to her guns.
Such a good show.
"What's this, hemlock?"
Wow I don't think House is pissed enough to poison you
That smile from house when he stared at foreman was basically "let the games begin" lol.
@4:55
the humble beginnings of house are always interesting to look at. I mean the show itself. You can really tell they were just trying to find their footing with lighting, dialogue, and sets.
"Take a lesson from Foreman, stand up for what you believe"
House md will live on forever as one of the best written shows, who agrees? Btw happy new year you all!!
Never have I agreed more with a statement
So true
Well written but only until the end of season 5, in my opinion
Can’t like your comment because it said 200 likes so here 👍
Happy new year again!
0:44 Allison still laughing makes my heart melt
You must be the only one who calls Cameron by her name, Allison.
I didn't notice that!
I wonder if that was an outtake
0:44 cameron is shaking from laughter! Definately not scripted!! :D :D :D
Nice catch!
Depends. What House said was hilarious, not only out of character, but in-character as well. For all we know, she was supposed to laugh from his statement from the moment the script was written.
...Thaaaaat being said, an argument could be made for the camera's focus being on the group as opposed to specifically her alone, which implies they did not felt the need to actively show her laughing, which in turn may suggest she was indeed not scripted to do so. As far as I can tell, it could easily be one as much as the other. I would say 'possibly' more than 'definitely'. :P
It was just kind of a perfect moment where it was both scripted to be funny and the characters would laugh, and funny out of script as well. Whether it's a fake laugh or a real laugh it was well done and fits the scene well.
That was so cute, I love this show
@@jessiehogue. 0:49 Cameron isn't laughing like that a moment later.
This episode was the first I ever watched of House. I was a child. A lot of the brilliance was lost on me. Now, I never miss a new clip on this channel.
I like how he lectured both Foreman and Cameron on something.
You know things are bad when Cuddy is treating a patient.
You know it’s a legal move, not a medical one when Cutty treats House patients
and you know she's gonna screw up and kill that patient, hence, why she's better off managing the hospital.
i really like hugh laurie's acting.
Who doesn't?
He’s also a phenomenal musician. Jazz blues R&B style.
Cameron is such a beaten puppy all thru the first seasons.
I think this is the beginning of stubborn Cameron lol
Whoever is still keeping this channel going.... Thank you. Youre a hero
His smile at foreman was creepy. He explained the reason in the ens
Past 3 days I've been plowing through House videos and suddenly a new one pops out! :)
I love the integrity that house has.
I love how desperate Cameron is for House's approval and she never gets it xD
specifically because she's desperate for his approval, House wont give her approval until she doesn't need it anymore, until she's only concerned with her own approval
@@DisKorruptd Yeah, I dunno wtf people are thinking when they say the OG team was boring.

I love that House loves Forman for sticking to his beliefs. He even reminds Cameron that at the end, she was right all along but because she didn't stand up for herself, the patient got hurt.

Happy 2021 everyone...
Me but in 2022, happy new year from the future
You can tell it's early in the show by how House actually gives them advice and tries to make them better doctors.
Just wanted to wish you a happy new year and most of all THE END OF 2020
It’s not the end of 2020, it’s 2020 December 32nd
@@noahhorsington4751 yeah, we're fucked
I’m not hopeful for 2021

I hope they dont just reset 2020 and turn it to 2020.0
Everybody saying House is always right and Cuddy wrong here, definitely never watched the show just the clips. Because usually House is wrong and based on how Cuddy stops him and makes him think he then finds the right answer in the end of each episode.
I think he even mentions in an episode how he’s always EVENTUALLY right
It usually takes some wrong diagnoses at first though!!
Yes she intentionally when he's doing dumb mistake intervenes to slow him down to make him think so he comes to right conculision
"usually house is wrong"
what?
But every time Cuddy intervenes she either doesn’t do any better or screws up worse.
@@JTKroll12 most of the episodes are House being wrong until the last minute. As House put it, “I am always eventually right”. Part of the reason why he has doctors like Taub is because they disagree with him a lot, his first guess is rarely correct.
I love how Foreman still has the balls to hold that 'Holier than thou' attitude towards House.
Gee, for hiring House because he's a brilliant diagnostician, Cuddy sure does get in his way & rail against him an awful lot.
To make him stop and think to slow him down so patient can live.
House causes an awful lot of legal fees because of how frequently he breaks the rules. He's also very reckless and tends to be wrong before he's right. If she didn't keep pressure on him, he would wind up mistreating a lot more patients.
Prime example is when they're stuck on the plane. House's first 4 diagnosis's were wrong and Cuddy methodically shut them down, and finally House gets it right afterwards. If someone doesn't keep him in check, he'll wind up killing a lot of his patients.
House is reckless and has made some very serious mistakes throughout the show. Cuddy was right here.
the difference in them getting help from the gang
house: bounce ideas off eachother and find the possible issues
cuddy: no nead for discussion because this one thing means that there can be no other possibilities
I first found out about House 1 or 2 years ago and it was on this youtube channel. Eventually I got so interested in the show I decided to watch the entire show from season 1 all the way to 8. One of the best decisions of my life. If you are watching these short yet memorable clips then good for you but watching House from Pilot to all the way to season 8 is such an amazing journey. Even if you don't like the show very much the music within each episode is very inspirational
I'm with this. I was kinda sad when I finished the show
The moment House smiles at you in a serious way... 😳
Chase’s sideburn game is STRONG yo!
The end of this clip taught me a great deal.
Wilson's hair looked so good back in season 1
Stand up for what you believe. Best House line 😁
Thank you 😊
Foreman in the thumbnail looks like a meme
1:56 House's eye looks so different with so much natural light and of course it is season 1

GREAT quote about the oath!!!!!
Ya know surprisingly, this shows how much House values Foreman's opinion, when even for a second, he might be wrong.
1 out of 10 chance.
And would out of care for the patient, step back.
Afterwards find out he might be right and without a doubt disprove any notion, that the 1% all it would take to find something

FUN FACT: Three years ago, a counselor with a wound clinic in Pennsylvania sold me on hyperbaric oxygen treatment for a small diabetic wound on my big toe. I took treatment for six months with little improvement to the wound, which returned several weeks later. What surprised me, however, was not the mediocre outcome, but breathtaking cost of the treatment, which I learned of only when it was all over: $60,000. If your MD won't assure you in writing that the treatment won't be better that a Band-Aid, JUST SAY NO, and buy yourself a Benz instead!
