I love how he's smoking a cigar whilst building his own humidor! This project is simply amazing!
Gives me some ideas on building my own!
Thanks for a great video! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Awesome job. Beautiful to watch. But you should have filled it with cigars for the final reveal. ;-)
Great video! I enjoyed seeing that dad had help from his girls. Smoking a cigar while putting the finishing touches on was perfection.
Wow...........
You made something look simple and easy to do while also doing an amazing job at it! I’m a neurological surgeon and I could never attempt this and even get remotely close to what you created! You are very talented! My fellow doctors don’t always like to give out such high praise, especially neurological surgeons, when it comes to precision work that requires quite a bit of effort like this. Still, everyone should be able to see the skill demonstrated here!!
Very much appreciate your comment. Being a neurological surgeon I'm sure your precisions are above mine :)
Man this is mind blowing. This could be a big money maker to market prefab DIY kits and sell them on Amazon, Ebay, and Home Depot. I'd definitely be looking to purchase one.
Festool game is strong with this one
That is awesome workmanship.... It is obvious you are no stranger to woodworking.... And I especially like the moments when the little inspector comes in to observe dad's work...LOL.... Brought back some 20+ year old memories for me!! Thanks for sharing..
this man knows how to work with wood very very nice u are a master crafter of wood so glad to see people still doing things like this by hand and not some assembly line in a factory good shit man
allen juston I really appreciate your comment
No doubt, that you are a professional woodmaker.
Great ! I realize I will never be able to build one myself!
Lol right? "DIY" but only if you have $50k of fancy tools in your garage.
Bro. I'm about to start on my own Wall Humidor. I'm making a 3x4 ft with poplar and Spanish lined 2-door opening. You video showed me some details that I can use for mine! I wish you the best and thanks! Enjoy, and "smok'em while you got them!"
What a beauty,excellent work!!
this video combines three of my favorite things...woodworking, cigars and mid century modern stuff...great work, looks beautiful.
Thank you
Amazing work. Very clean!
I can't even deny, that it's pure perfection.
Great video .Some of the best joinery I have seen on CZcams
Work of art!
That's some beautiful work right there.
Fantastic work
Gorgeous work.
You have some fancy tools… but I’m glad we have the same drill. Like I have somthin in common with the master
I don't smoke cigars (and don't plan to), but geez this turned out great. I watch a lot of woodworking videos on CZcams, and without a doubt, this is one of the best completed projects I've ever come across.
Damn good job.
Gorgeous, Sapele is one of my favorites as well.
Stunning! That is a beautiful piece of art!
Thank you
Awesome! I want one. You the Man!
WHOA...WOW....great job/work...love it....
Love it. And classy to smoke a cigar while finishing the humidor.
Very beautiful of course
Dude!!!! Your workmanship is amazing!!!!!
outstanding!
great job!
Insane! Madman at large! Privileged to watch you build this. Thanks, mate. Rock on, star!
Thank you... Another video coming soon
fine work...well done
Great job bud
Gorgeous humidor. I'd like to own this.
Give that man a cigar!
I love how you smoke cigar while making this. nice size on this Humidor. very nice :)
Combining my favorite things to do :)
Pontus Åkesson I like seeing his little girl checking out what dad was doing
Excellent work, video is awesome too. More videos please.
Thank you
Anyone else start freaking out at 4:04 😂
Never saw a Festool and a Ryobi in the same wood shop....Laughing. Nice job on the Humidor. Awesome tools (Festool) also.
I do get a lot of shit for that but my response is always the same "don't let the tools you don't have get in the way of building stuff" :)
Ryobi though man. jeez throw it away.
What a fantastic wood worker you are. If you ever decide to build one smaller, I'd be interested in purchasing one. I live in a camper, so size is very important to me. Again fantastic job, I'm amazed at your skills....
Thanks, Craig for your comment. I do have a smaller one in the works. Video coming soon
great work! :-)
more videos like this please!
greats from Germany
Moving my shop at the moment but once back up I'll post more. Thanks for watching
This gives me the idea to take an existing cabinet and line it with cedar...
Doing that next weekend :)
Absolutely! How’d it work out?
Great piece man, Stellar work!! And nothings better than smoking a stogie during a humidor build!!
Kevin Schwy very much agree :)
I read that last message. just making sure I understand you correctly I'm having an issue with one of my pieces not sealing adequately enough. I was going to try and inlay a small seal around the door or should I cut it into the door stops themselves? and what should I be using for a gasket and how big? Sorry man for all the questions but you got the answers lol Mikka thank you again !!
Nice
Superb! Much inspiration in this video. I applaud and thank you for it. Would there be any way to get a copy of the CAD file for the shelves from you?
This is epic. Do you have the build plans for this? I’d love to make a horizontal version of this. Stellar work man.
First I would like to say WOW !!! With out a doubt a beautiful piece, what a skill set you possess great job awesome layout of tools were can I buy one. ty for the video JC RI
EATSHITFUKRS I build these to order. Pls look at my website and email me if you want more information. Thx
What tools do you think are absolutely mandatory in a build like this? Looking into a similar project.
Hello beautiful work friend what type of wood was used?
$500 in materials. $20,000 in tools and jigs
Your work is amazing! Those joints were so nice and clean... all of them. I agree with you on the tilt box for setting up the fences and blades. Such a great tool! Well done and thanks for sharing.
What type of humidification system are you using if you don't mind my asking. Do you find the seal to be adequate even without the traditional lip on a humidor?
All the best! Thanks again for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Fking balls!! Great work!!!
I'm going to build something soon, can you elaborate on the humidification system you picked and how is it working? Did you only use Spanish cedar veneer on the inside?
If you email me at olssonmikka @ gmail.com I will share everything I have
What type of wood glue is acceptable for humidor? Titebond 2? Also it’s one to stain the outside and door and just leave the Spanish cedar unfinished? I am planning a built in wall humidor
TB2 is just fine. I have a build video I can share if you email me. the email is on the website Mikkaolsson.com
Amazing job! Do you sell your products? website?
Very nice work. As chance would have it, I was smoking a cigar while I watched you finish it, while smoking a cigar.
Very nice!
Finnish first name, Swedish surname, living in the US?
Beautifully made! Where is the humidifier hidden?
It is placed in the bottom. I use an Oasis plus which works well.
Wow great job! The slots in the shelves are for air movement?
It is. It important to keep air flowing at all time
you have my total respect. you are so good. how much did you spend in total?
Around $500
Did you encounter snipe by planing after you crosscut to final length? If so, how did you deal with that?
I put a light upward pressure on the rear of the board entering and the same when they come out. So I don’t have much issue with a snipe
@@mikkaolsson434 appreciate the tip!
Fantastic work! Why not build exactly what you want if you have the know how!
Agree
did you make your own soss hinge jig? Tell me more!! lol
Really nice work. But wait a minute. You don't own a lathe? What's the matter with you? I need to build something like this, and your video gave me lots of ideas. Thanks!
I don't have room :(
yes, nice, beautiful, do you make these for purchase ?
Jeff Dingman. I do but I only have one available right now and that's the one in the video.
Absolutely beautiful. Maybe I missed it, but how to do you create a seal with the door? Also, how long did this take you?
It is with a silicone rubber bulb seal recessed in the door stop. It continues all around for a 100% seal. You can see more detailed pictures on www.mikkaolsson.com/new-gallery/ . I never logged my time but probably around 40 hours. Glad you enjoyed
Impressive. Thanks for sharing!
Imagine, a cabinet just for cigars......
Just curious, but what kind of glass did you use and how did you fasten the glass into the door frame?
Nada Robot I used 3/8 tempered glass and did the sand blasting of the edges in the shop. I use a glass/metal epoxy
nice, thank you.
Nada Robot - this video shows how it might have been done - czcams.com/video/QRHpw-i8PKE/video.html
are the plans available?
Great video and awesome work!! I have been looking for plans and ideas to build my own Humidor cabinet, any plans available for this specific build?
I, unfortunately, don't have any plans.
how can i buy one? the workmanship is second to none.
Please email me at mikka.olsson@ebbex.com and I can give you the details
Stunning in every way. I am amazed by the craftsmanship and the masterpiece you've created. Well done, brother.
How has this performed since?
They perform great. I have built a total of 7 and couple of my friends has them. They hold humidity very well. The main reason for that is there is no break in the seal for the door
Again, you're very talented. If you sell these, please PM me.
Hello,
thats a wonderful masterpiece. I'd like go buy one! Could you please contact me to talk about the rest?
MT, please email me at olssonmikka@gmail.com and drop me your number, then we can discuss one of these for you. Thank you
Mikka Olsson Do you use any weatherstripping at the door ledge, or do you just rely on the friction fit between the door and the cedar stops to keep humidity inside the humidor?
What you used to seal the door
Seal 1/4" Bulb Bubble Kerf Mount www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1RJH3L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_Kju0Fb4E3ZZEN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
howd you keep the door sealed when closed?
Kevin Schwy you can see more details here www.mikkaolsson.com/new-gallery/ it's a recessed rubber seal
Hello, I have a couple questions for you in regards to humidor construction. Is there ever any issue with the glass fogging up or any condensation forming on it due to humidity or is that just a non-issue with these types of humidors? I believe from what I understand that typical humidity and temperature should be 70% at 70 degrees but am not sure if that's even enough moisture for that to be any concern at all. I'm building my first humidor out of an old grandfather clock in a few days and the clock has a glass door in front and then two glass panels on the sides and I wasn't sure if that will be an issue or not. Also, I was concerned about using any products with chemicals in them like silicone caulk to seal certain parts to make them airtight and if that will have any effect on the flavor of the cigars over time or if using any other oil or water-based sealants or stains on the wood would pose a potential risk for them off-gassing over time as well. Any help or info you can give would be greatly appreciated or if you know a good website or forum perhaps about the do's and don't of humidor construction being that this is my first time building one and I am just trying to get as much information as possible as to not ruin the entire project and potentially thousands of dollars worth of cigars. Thank you in advance and great video by the way. Very nice job.
It’s not an issue at all. Condensation forms when there is a high difference in temperature on each side of the glass and higher humidity exist on one side.
You will want to use solid Spanish cedar on the inside as much as you can. Also keep in mind aromatic cedar is not the same as Spanish and can’t be used. Sealing a crack with a silicone is not an issue. Over time as silicone hardens it stops giving off any gases
If you tell me the interior cubic feet of the clock I can recommend a humidification unit
@@mikkaolsson434 Thank you very much for all the information. When I get to the shop I will measure the inside of the clock. It's not very big and the customer already purchased a unit for me to install but I have all that in my shop and can't remember the type or brand off-hand but once I get that info I'll let you know and maybe you can tell me if it's any good or not. He also has some small digital hygrometers that he wants to be installed as well but I assume those will be ok. Thank you for mentioning the aromatic cedar. I didn't realize it was so bad to use. I know Spanish cedar is the industry standard from what I've seen in order to make humidors but I only have a few board feet of the aromatic as well as some 4x4's of western red cedar that I was going to use for the internal framework to be able to attach the removable shelves that I'm building for it but if you say that it's not good to use then what do you think of Honduran mahogany? I've heard a few other people say in some videos that I've watched that mahogany can be used as an alternative to the Spanish cedar but what do you think? I have a few 12in by 6ft slabs of some 8/4 Honduran mahogany but other than that, if you think the cedar I have is no good then ill have to see if I can find some Spanish at my hardwood dealer. Was hoping not to have to buy any wood for this project to keep my costs down but I also want to build the best cabinet possible. Thanks again for the info and again I'll get back to you with the cubic feet as well as the brand of humidifier that I received. ok, talk to you soon.
@@mikkaolsson434 Oh one other thing, What can I use around the frame of the door to give a good airtight seal. Will just any weather stripping work or do they make some special thin gasket or something. The door and its hinges and the way it closes onto the face frame of the clock is a pretty tight tolerance and I'm afraid any old weather strip will cause the door not to close all way which will obviously defeat its purpose. What would you suggest I use?
How can I get one made?
saiful alom please send me an email at olssonmikka@gmail.com and I’ll share details. Thank you
very nice .. do you sell them.
I do. You can find my contact info on my website mikkaolsson.com. Thank you
I'd like to buy one. Can you please contact me?
Kind regards & very well done work!
MT, please email me at olssonmikka @ gmail.com and let's see how we can make it happen. thx
You wouldn't happen to have plans for sale ?
I don’t have finished plans but I’ll share anything with you that can help you build one
I dont know anything about a humidor. A coworker asked me to build him one. Is the Cedar veneer enough or would it be better to build it solid cedar with a hardwood veneer? Also did you seal the glass?
how do I buy this
Please email me at mikka.olsson@ebbex.com and I can give you the details
Hi Mikka, what are the dimensions of the interior of the cabinet, roughly?
The standard cabinet is H36xW22.5xD11.5. Feet adds 10" to the height. The inside dimensions are H33.5xW20xD10. The dimensions between the shelves are 5". It will hold about 600 cigars.
You need to build more of these and sell to those without the skills...
Thanks. I do and have built several
asking price?
They have been selling for $3500
I love it it looks so cool
It's spelt Sapele my friend! Nice work.
Very cool, but it hardly qualifies as DIY. These are pro tools.
Umm lets see hater....DIY. I'm pretty sure he did it himself.
buying the materials, then measuring, cutting, routing, dry assembling, connecting, prepping, finish coating and completing and final assembling it by yourself, regardless of using manual hand tools or using power tools and other equipment to have the best possible result, is still DIY because he done it himself.
@@WillieDines1 That's all fine and dandy and I applaud him for it. But alas, DIY means a little more than literal interpretation of the three words. It means something just about anyone can do with little to no special knowledge and/or tools. A carpenter with carpenter tools building a chicken coop for example is not DIY, even if he does it himself. Do you understand?
@@QualeQualeson wrong, DIY is abbreviation fkr "Do It Yourself" and that is already self explanitory.
@@WillieDines1 Nope. I'm sorry but you can't look at the words alone and think you know what it means. DIY means something you can make or do yourself that is normally made or done by professionals. If you're a professional or if you have access to special knowledge and/or tools, it's not DIY. If you think about it, your interpretation makes no sense. It would mean that say a gunsmith made a gun himself, it would be a DIY.
Nice
Hello beautiful work friend what type of wood was used?
Sapele, it's native to tropical Africa
Amazing job! Do you sell your products? website?
Thank you. The site is mikkaolsson.com. Since this is a hobby I don't make many but they have all sold except this one which I just finished.
